Finger joint nodule

Common Questions and Answers about Finger joint nodule

finger

Avatar n tn specifically, the two finger joints of the pinky, the top joint of the ring finger, the central joint of the middle finger and sometimes the knuckle and central joint of the index finger. My thumb's central joint can be popped but causes no pain or tightness. Pressing my hand flat on a surface and forcing it to remain there causes tightness at the wrist and I can feel what can only be described as a 'spring effect' at the knuckles when I release.
Avatar n tn No, I don't think a nodule always means RA. My Mom doesn't have RA, but she has spent a lifetime as a very active seamstress, which means a lot of repetitive motion in her fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, etc. She also developed nodules. Do you know if it's a nodule on the bone (aka a bone spur) or a nodule in the tendon or soft tissue? If it's a bone spur, surgery can help. If it's soft tissue, an injection of steroid along with daily massage, could help dissolve it.
Avatar n tn I injured my thumb right after Thanksgiving and was initially diagnosed with a sprain. The worst pain was at the joint farthest from my wrist. New Year's Eve I was diagnosed with trigger thumb and prescribed 8 physical therapy sessions. (The tendon at the base of the thumb is noticeably thick) I had little to no improvement after the PT (over a 4 week period) and sought a second opinion.
Avatar f tn Literally overnight, I developed a hard nodule under my middle finger on the palm, and my finger started snapping into place and being stiff after waking in the morning. Some days the pain is pretty bad and other days it's hardly there. It is my right hand and I am right-handed. Is surgery the only option to correct this problem? I can't imagine being without my right hand. Thanks for your advice.
Avatar m tn I have a small bump that developed under my index finger ( on the palm side ), it is positioned just above my highest joint, when it first developed it was very hard to see because it was flesh colored. It has grown more white colored, and gradually more noticable. when i pull my finger back, it is very noticable, as it appears round and white. It is also very flat. It is not really irritating either, it is not itchy. I was thinking it could be a wart, but I am not sure.
1455116 tn?1330505417 Has anyone had a thyroid nodule removed with while having no other thyroid problems diagnosed, and had all your symptoms go away after surgery? my endo said this happens sometimes. I've had a myriad of now nearly debilitating symptoms for the last 5 years, and have finally found a GOOD doctor who found a 1/2" nodule on my thyroid just by feeling (not sure how these other doctors, who chose to tell me I was CRAZY and imaging my symptoms didn't feel this.).
Avatar f tn ve been having minor pain in the smallest joint on my fourth finger on my right hand. Because I work seven days a week during the school year, I never saw the doctor. But it started getting worse. It hurts, if my fist is closed, to bump the knuckle from above. It also hurts to stretch my fingers out (laying flat is okay, but if I try to stretch them at all, it hurts).
Avatar f tn All of a sudden the piece of skin in between my thumb and finger has become stiff. I don't think it would be trigger finger but i might be wrong. It won't go either. What can I do? It's hard to stretch my thumb away from the hand and spread my fingers without it hurting.

Avatar m tn m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn I'm 28 and I have joint pain in my finger joints and I feel it in my wrists sometimes too. And in the digits of my feet (I think). I have no RF in my blood and the doctor said just take Ibuprofen. I am slightly over weight because of bulimia. I've had gluten sensitivity problems (makes me sluggish and hungry). AND labyrinthitus in the past months. No thyroid problems. Not diabetic. Feeling it might be Fibromyalgia ? I'm lost.
Avatar n tn Hello It is likely that you might be having a keratosis or a rheumatoid disease around the knee joint. It is unlikely that it is a piece of chipped bone. It would apparently feel and look like so because of the paucity for something extra to grow in the knee joint space. You need to take some anti inflammatory and analgesic agent like ibuprofen..
757527 tn?1237893063 Not having the CT Scan of the Chest results, I will assume that the lung nodule is a solitary nodule, is not especially large (< 1” in diameter) and without any features to suggest a malignancy. Given those criteria, such nodules observed as an incidental finding in a non-smoker 29 year old person are almost invariably benign. So, please don’t lose any sleep over the nodule.
1427077 tn?1282913207 I have a lump on the top joint of my index finger which has been there for about 2 months now. Sometimes its sore but now always & its starting to get bigger. Is it worth getting it checked out?
Avatar n tn When there is a capsular injury to a joint in finger, it is best to give the RICE treatment for a few days such as rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can strap the injured finger with the neighboring finger) and elevation (keep hands elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Once the injury settles down and there is less pain you have to start physiotherapy.
Avatar f tn any amount of swelling in a small joint such as a finger joint can cause quite a bit of discomfort. It sounds like you "jammed" the joint(s). It can take a long time to resolve. Like 6-9 months. You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.
Avatar n tn You could have injured interphalangeal joint of your finger. The multiple joint involvement could also be due to infection or due to reactive arthritis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Wish you had received an answer I have the same symptom. Index finger near the joint with a burning sensation, not when touching it but when carrying a plastic shopping bag or when my purse handles lay across the finger between the first and middle knuckle.
Avatar n tn I have a nodule on my left palm, under my little finger, just above the crease at the palm. There is a clear swelling in the area obvious on touching and is sensitive to pressure. Gripping things tightly or pressing the nodule causes pain. I do not appear to have any limitations in mobility of the finger at the moment although there are the few occasional moments when I have felt some discomfort while typing.
Avatar n tn I am due for a ct scan in about a month. A 1cm nodule was discovered while I was having a ct scan with and without contrast for a kidney cyst, which turned out okay. What in size is the difference between a cm and mm? I was a smoker for years and started to cut down several years ago and now of course have quit. I had a ct scan in 2004 and 2005 for cancer research and nothing was discovered. Are there other causes for nodules to appear? This last month of waiting is starting to worry me.
Avatar n tn punctured my finger in the joint and now it is swollen and I cant bend it and it really is painful I dont know what to do
