Finger joint nodule

Common Questions and Answers about Finger joint nodule

finger

I just wanted to know the symptoms for someone with a thyroid nodule. I feel dizzy, my left side of my body is in pain and I feel like throwing up at times. I wonder if these symptoms are normal. I just had a biopsy done and the nodule has grown to 3.3 cm from 1.3 cm, I also have a couple of other nodules, just not as big.
I recently shook hands and immediately felt pain as if a tendon or a ligament ruptured under the mid knuckle/joint on my right middle finger. It was a broad pain with noticeable swelling. Now when I shake hands or grasp something tightly like a handle the same pain occurs. Also, now on that same finger but on the right side there is a small pea sized bump or nodule. If I close my fingers tightly it produces an acute sharp, stabbing, burning pain as if be stuck with a hot needle.
I have a bump on my pointer finger right on the joint. I have rheumatoid arthritis. What is it? It hurts.
It may connect with the joint at the end of the finger. A ganglion cyst is a swelling that often appears on or around joints and tendons in the hand or foot. I would suggest a dermatologist’s evaluation for this. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

Trigger finger, or trigger thumb, is a type of stenosing tenosynovitis in which the sheath around a tendon in a thumb or finger becomes swollen, or a nodule forms on the tendon. Injection of the tendon sheath with a corticosteroid is effective over weeks to months in more than half of patients but surgical correction is required in some cases as yours, the problem is predictably resolved by a relatively simple surgical procedure (usually outpatient, under local anesthesia).
Not very much, but it is a little uncomfortable. The middle joint of my right middle finger has been hurting for about a week and is slightly swollen. It is getting a little worse every day. It feels a bit hotter to the touch, than the others. (I did NOT hit or twist this finger) Does anyone know what this could be? It kind of sounds like the onset of RA or RA in a mild form to me??? Could that be right? FYI, I'm seeing my doctor about it next week.
If the bump looks like a blister which is on the skin rather than a bump or cyst that is under the skin, it is probably not a rheumatoid nodule. Still, with your fingers hurting and the bump near a joint, I think you should have your doctor take a look at it. It is possible to have more than 1 type of arthritis at once. I know because I do (leave it to me to pick a short straw!) Please let us know what you find out.
I have a small bump that developed under my index finger ( on the palm side ), it is positioned just above my highest joint, when it first developed it was very hard to see because it was flesh colored. It has grown more white colored, and gradually more noticable. when i pull my finger back, it is very noticable, as it appears round and white. It is also very flat. It is not really irritating either, it is not itchy. I was thinking it could be a wart, but I am not sure.

Do you know if it's a nodule on the bone (aka a bone spur) or a nodule in the tendon or soft tissue? If it's a bone spur, surgery can help. If it's soft tissue, an injection of steroid along with daily massage, could help dissolve it. I've had nodules on hand tendons, and often I can get rid of them just by consistent massage.
specifically, the two finger joints of the pinky, the top joint of the ring finger, the central joint of the middle finger and sometimes the knuckle and central joint of the index finger. My thumb's central joint can be popped but causes no pain or tightness. Pressing my hand flat on a surface and forcing it to remain there causes tightness at the wrist and I can feel what can only be described as a 'spring effect' at the knuckles when I release.
I injured my thumb right after Thanksgiving and was initially diagnosed with a sprain. The worst pain was at the joint farthest from my wrist. New Year's Eve I was diagnosed with trigger thumb and prescribed 8 physical therapy sessions. (The tendon at the base of the thumb is noticeably thick) I had little to no improvement after the PT (over a 4 week period) and sought a second opinion.
I have been reading through this forum and I too have these red nodes on my middle finger only on my right hand. I have had chicken pox. I am not sick currently or under stress. I have not ever had HSV. However, I did notice that the very first one I ever got was on the front side of my hand near my first knuckle after a manicure. It came and went 3 times. Then it came and a second came on the inside of that same joint.
Joint pain yes, My knees and finger joints esp. Sometimes my fingers feel "squishy" at the joint. Fatigue, yes. Clumsy, yes actually have fallen several times this year, well, 2011. But my symptoms could all just be wear and tear. The only one I can't explain is the neck fattness, which is just so annoying! Periods normal. Horseness off and on, but I have a crazy 4 year old. I just recently found out my aunt has some autoimmune disorder with her thyroid.
They would be numb, tingly - very strange. Then I got what the doctor calls trigger finger. it almost feel like my thumb would pop out of joint.. Now the numb/tingly hands have become much worse. It happens a couple times a day. Im very worried. I dont know whats going on with me. I went to the doctor last week for the first time and they mentioned an underactive thyroid. They did a blood test and all I remember were my TSH levels were <.

I'm not an expert by any means. But a cyst on your finger joints (a rheumatoid nodule) seems to be possibly indicative of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Or at least suspicious of it. Have you been on a steady amount of prednisone for awhile? It's not fair, but I think doctors sometimes don't take you serious unless you really demand it so to speak. Have you thought about a second opinion? What I meant before is that a flair is not necessarily reflected in your bloodwork.

Incredible that this chain has been going on for 3 years! I too have the bursting blood vessels in my hands - mostly my fingers, but has happened in the palm of my hand as well. Many folks who are posting are thin & athletic... I used to be athletic, but never really "thin" more the muscular type. Not really athletic anymore as I just don't have the time to work out - wish I did. Latest burst was last night. Unscrewing the cap from a bottle of juice & "pop"..
The ring finger can just be numb down the middle finger side, or it can be the whole finger. The little finger is seldom involved.
Rheumatoid Arthritis which has impacted nearly every organ and joint in my body with possible RA nodule involvement in my Lungs, Asthma, heart Disease and thyroid involvement.
