Finger joint injection

Common Questions and Answers about Finger joint injection

finger

Avatar m tn Hurts to squeeze tightly, shake someones hand, and definitely cannot move the finger side to side. Moving the finger back toward the back of my hand doesn't hurt though. NSAIDS help only a little, but they tear my stomach up. Weird thing is that hot water makes it feel about 85% better instantly every time. Ice doesn't help much. Anybody have any clue what is wrong and what I can do to fix this?
467797 tn?1216211257 Previously the shots did wonders and I was pain free, but not with my last injection. My finger is stuck in a bowed position, the tendon is standing out and feels very hard and it (finger and joint) gets very swollen. Also, pain is radiating down into my palm In the past few days, my finger is now slightly tingling but I am not sure if it's from the TF or my Raynaud's. I am seeing my primary again in a week but this tingling has me concerned. Should I push to see her sooner?
Avatar n tn s rest just to find that I have a sore on my left pointer finger. Its mid-point on my finger preventing me from bending it all the way. When I attempt to bend my finger it hurts like crazy, this feels almost like a hair bump on the inside of my hand. Very uncomfortable. This bump doesn't have a head to it like other bumps I've experienced in the past.
Avatar n tn I am very concerned because it looks better, however, the lidocaine injection bruised and stiffened my pinky finger as well. Also, the lower joint (near the knuckle) is still swollen and I cannot bend it or the pinky (i.e. make a complete fist) all the way. There is still a little pain when accidentally struck or when I press on the ring finger. I really want to know if I should be exercising these fingers as I have been gently trying to bend them.
Avatar m tn Injections like Synvisc act as a supplement to the normal joint fluid and help in joint lubrication during the joint motion. They are usually given to delay the joint replacement surgeries. However, it does not replace the joint with the "normal" joint fluid since it is absorbed and cleared from the joint within a week (hence you have to take it every week). I would not say that it is totally useless since there have been observed benefits of this injection in some patients.
Avatar n tn t show anything except inflammation around the bottom joint of the thumb (I had developed pain in that joint by then). He did a steroid injection at the base of my thumb a week ago and I am seeing a little improvement. I also have a "nodule" between my thumb and index finger that he thinks may be sesamoiditis. I can't find much information on sesamoiditis in the hand. Would a cyst have shown up on an MRI without contrast? This nodule has not gotten smaller since the injection.
Avatar n tn I have had this for over a week, and it seems to be getting worse. I am 33 and in very good health. The 1st knuckle on my index finger is pretty swollen, stiff and has a fair amount of pain when I bend or touch it. I have already been to urgent care, and was told it was not infected due to no heat or redness. I was given Ibuprofen and a splint, told to follow up tomorrow if no improvement. They sugest bloodwork to test for uric acid or arthritis.
Avatar f tn they appear afternoon to evening lasting through the night.they are associated wth joint severely in the finger, wrist and legs.anyone with similar symptons please response. benadryl works but not for long.
534810 tn?1213327718 Now have left trigger thumb and right DeQuervains tenosynovitis (both treated with injection). Within last few weeks have a middle trigger finger and symptoms returning on left thumb and right wrist. Feet are painful; difficult to walk after sittting for few minutes; however, once moving they are fine.
Avatar n tn For example, taking a drug like prednisone has a much bigger chance of adverse effects on the virus than does a steroid injection for a trigger finger, for example. You really need to chat with your doctor about this. He/she knows your medical history and knows more about the risks and benefits of whatever it is you are treating.
Avatar f tn ve been having minor pain in the smallest joint on my fourth finger on my right hand. Because I work seven days a week during the school year, I never saw the doctor. But it started getting worse. It hurts, if my fist is closed, to bump the knuckle from above. It also hurts to stretch my fingers out (laying flat is okay, but if I try to stretch them at all, it hurts).
Avatar f tn All of a sudden the piece of skin in between my thumb and finger has become stiff. I don't think it would be trigger finger but i might be wrong. It won't go either. What can I do? It's hard to stretch my thumb away from the hand and spread my fingers without it hurting.

Avatar m tn m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn I'm 28 and I have joint pain in my finger joints and I feel it in my wrists sometimes too. And in the digits of my feet (I think). I have no RF in my blood and the doctor said just take Ibuprofen. I am slightly over weight because of bulimia. I've had gluten sensitivity problems (makes me sluggish and hungry). AND labyrinthitus in the past months. No thyroid problems. Not diabetic. Feeling it might be Fibromyalgia ? I'm lost.
Avatar n tn i have had multiple efforts at phyical therapy, multiple injections in my shoulder using different area for the injections and now have had a fluoroscopically guided cervical epidural steroid injection. this injection has not helped and in some area's have increase my pain and caused increased limitations (turning of my head left, right, looking down and looking up) i have also been experiencing tingling in my left leg with numbness.
Avatar n tn About 3 weeks ago I found a nodul on my finger. I went to the doctor's and he wants me to have blood test to rule out rheumatoid arthritis. I had an x-ray of the other hand because two of my finger's joints (the ones below the nail) hurt when I move them but he couldn't reveal anything important. I'm very worried about it I know it's a serious disease. It's a nodul on the finger's joint always means rheumatoid arthritis???
1427077 tn?1282913207 I have a lump on the top joint of my index finger which has been there for about 2 months now. Sometimes its sore but now always & its starting to get bigger. Is it worth getting it checked out?
Avatar n tn When there is a capsular injury to a joint in finger, it is best to give the RICE treatment for a few days such as rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can strap the injured finger with the neighboring finger) and elevation (keep hands elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Once the injury settles down and there is less pain you have to start physiotherapy.

Avatar f tn any amount of swelling in a small joint such as a finger joint can cause quite a bit of discomfort. It sounds like you "jammed" the joint(s). It can take a long time to resolve. Like 6-9 months. You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.
Avatar n tn You could have injured interphalangeal joint of your finger. The multiple joint involvement could also be due to infection or due to reactive arthritis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Wish you had received an answer I have the same symptom. Index finger near the joint with a burning sensation, not when touching it but when carrying a plastic shopping bag or when my purse handles lay across the finger between the first and middle knuckle.
