It can also be due to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, infection of the joint, tendonitis or inflammation of a tendon, or bursitis (inflammation of the lining of joint). As far as I can tell there is no swelling or redness in on the fingertip, unless the infection is just in the pulp area. Is it possible to get an infection in the pulp on its own without having a cut or injury? I had been working a truck and I am not sure if I damaged it in some way. I was connecting a battery and I am not sure if I was shocked while connecting the negative or positive volt. Could 12 voltage shock damage the nerve? Seems like I should see a doctor. Thanks.
