Avatar f tn I go into the Ortho Dr on the 12th, because my Dr said it might be a torn ligament or busted joint capsule. Has anyone had this type of injury and what is the typical treatment/recovery time? Thank you, Ms.
Avatar f tn Arthur Ritis has been known to take us from joint to joint. We never know which joint is next. Sorry, a little humor. MSM has been known to help with arthritis pain because it cuts down on the inflammation. I have recently started taking it myself, as I have Fibromyalgia and anything that cuts inflammation is okay in my book! If you decide to try it, 1000mg with the meal of your choice is recommended. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I have noticed that I am even guarding my shoulder also. The pain tends to radiate down to my pinkie finger and the ring finger. It hurts so bad to even try to raise my arm just a bit, for even a gap, to even try to somehow get some deoderant on. What is wrong???
Avatar n tn It appears that you have injured the capsule of the joint between the two parts of a finger. The capsule is protective of the movements and contains synovial fluid which provides lubrication to the joints and helps them glide over each other. This fluid is probably stretching some part of the capsule of the ligament and causing the swelling.
Avatar f tn Regarding the latter, possibilities include inflammation at a tendon or ligament or the joint capsule lining (tendonitis or bursitis etc) or a rotator cuff problem. If that is the case, anti-inflammatories such as NSAIDs (like ibuprofen etc) are often helpful and the problem improves with time, rest, and gentle stretching and sometimes physical therapy. If the problem is a rotator cuff tear, sometimes surgical repair is necessary.
Avatar f tn I dislocated my pinky finger 5 weeks ago. From joint to tip was perpendicular to bottom of finger. Was so horrified, I pulled up and put it back in place and iced it, but hurt so badly I went to the ER. X-ray showed no break and they said I did a really good job (straight). Taped it to a splint and told me to ice every 2 hours for 20 minutes and wear splint for 2 days.
Avatar f tn An x-ray showed no fractures but I was referred for an MRI about four weeks later due to continued pain and difficulty with lifting objects and weight-bearing activities. Results of the MRI indicated a “Focal full-thickness tear in the dorsal intercarpal joint capsule measuring approximately 0.5 x 0.3 cm with associated soft tissue edema and joint fluid extravasating into the adjacent dorsal soft tissue. 2. No acute fractures.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to squeeze primrose oil out of capsule into vagina she does not want me to leave capsule which is fine... but how do I rub it on to cervix? I dont touch myself so ill have hubby do it but do I just have him put his finger in like a man would if he was playing with u or how lol????
Avatar m tn Hello, These symptoms can be due to frozen shoulder in which the joint capsule of the shoulder joint has ligaments that hold the shoulder bones to each other. When the capsule becomes inflamed, the shoulder bones are unable to move freely in the joint. Sometimes an MRI exam may show inflammation, but there are no specific signs to diagnose frozen shoulder. Apply warm compresses and take some anti inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen/ Diclofenac.
Avatar f tn ve been having minor pain in the smallest joint on my fourth finger on my right hand. Because I work seven days a week during the school year, I never saw the doctor. But it started getting worse. It hurts, if my fist is closed, to bump the knuckle from above. It also hurts to stretch my fingers out (laying flat is okay, but if I try to stretch them at all, it hurts).
Avatar f tn All of a sudden the piece of skin in between my thumb and finger has become stiff. I don't think it would be trigger finger but i might be wrong. It won't go either. What can I do? It's hard to stretch my thumb away from the hand and spread my fingers without it hurting.

Avatar m tn m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn I'm 28 and I have joint pain in my finger joints and I feel it in my wrists sometimes too. And in the digits of my feet (I think). I have no RF in my blood and the doctor said just take Ibuprofen. I am slightly over weight because of bulimia. I've had gluten sensitivity problems (makes me sluggish and hungry). AND labyrinthitus in the past months. No thyroid problems. Not diabetic. Feeling it might be Fibromyalgia ? I'm lost.
Avatar m tn This fluid contains oxygen, nitrogen and carbon gasses. When joints crack, it could be the result of the joint capsule being hyperextended, which causes the formation and release of gas bubbles that make that "cracky" sound. However every time you crack the joints your naturally hyperextending the soft tissue with possibly damaging it so if you can stay away from cracking your joints voluntarily. Hope this helps!
612551 tn?1450022175 We have our Westie on a sweet potato fish formula kibble and I wonder if it could be improved by breaking open a one human (the type we may take 3 or more of a day) fish oil capsule and drizzle it over the main kibble meal. Yes, I have read the advice on feeding some canned food too, and am working my way up to that.
1427077 tn?1282913207 I have a lump on the top joint of my index finger which has been there for about 2 months now. Sometimes its sore but now always & its starting to get bigger. Is it worth getting it checked out?
Avatar n tn When there is a capsular injury to a joint in finger, it is best to give the RICE treatment for a few days such as rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can strap the injured finger with the neighboring finger) and elevation (keep hands elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Once the injury settles down and there is less pain you have to start physiotherapy.
Avatar f tn any amount of swelling in a small joint such as a finger joint can cause quite a bit of discomfort. It sounds like you "jammed" the joint(s). It can take a long time to resolve. Like 6-9 months. You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.
Avatar n tn You could have injured interphalangeal joint of your finger. The multiple joint involvement could also be due to infection or due to reactive arthritis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Wish you had received an answer I have the same symptom. Index finger near the joint with a burning sensation, not when touching it but when carrying a plastic shopping bag or when my purse handles lay across the finger between the first and middle knuckle.
Avatar n tn punctured my finger in the joint and now it is swollen and I cant bend it and it really is painful I dont know what to do
Avatar f tn Ganglion cysts most commonly occur on the back of the hand, at the wrist joint and can also develop on the palm side of the wrist. Ganglion cysts arise from the capsule of a joint or the sheath of a tendon. They can be found at different places on the wrist. You can ask your specialist to rule out spurs by an X-ray, infections due to the symptoms of inflammation and also any lipoma or giant cell tumors with the help of scans and examination. You can consider surgery for a complicated cyst.
