Avatar m tn I some times would run my finger over the edge of the card to get the pill residue on my finger and then lick my finger (in know gross, but I have a problem that I am trying to get help for so please do not make fun of me or judge me). I would run my finger over the card after I made the lines to snort, as an addict you do not want to waste anything. So, based off of that description does that mean "drug wroks" and should I be concerned with that credit card incident?
Avatar m tn Went to see an oral surgeon 3 months ago about a problem that had nothing to do with the root amputation he did on a tooth in my mouth that was part of a fixed bridge. He said I had an infection and he suggested that a root amputation be performed. He removed bone and gum tissue an amputated the root. 3 months later it still aches in the area he worked on. Went back to see him he took new x-rays saw no infection and said he didn't know why it is still aching.
Avatar n tn The dentist I saw yesterday recommended an amputation of the one root or see an oral surgeon who can a dental implant. He said there was no guarantee that the other two roots would hold up & that food & bacteria might collect in the tooth after the amputation. My question is which procedure is less invasive: the amputation of the one root or extracting the tooth & having an implant put in. Also, can a redo of the apicoectomy be done instead of removing the entire root?
572547 tn?1218924130 First, I understand your frustration. Before I found out what my first trigger finger was, I was fully prepared to request amputation because it was making my entire hand useless. I've had 3 surgeries over the past 2 years, freeing 4 fingers and removing a ganglion cyst from one. Did your surgeon send you to physical therapy? You need to keep moving your hands and fingers, despite the pain. Scar tissue (adhesions) starts to form a couple of months out from the surgery.
Avatar m tn I had a root amputation on a tooth that had a prior apicoectomy many years ago. Oral surgeon said I had an infection in the tooth. The tooth had a crown and was part of a fixed bridge. I had no symptoms, I went to see the surgeon for something else, he suggested a root amputation, he took cut the gum and bone and cut off the root. I had this done 3 months ago but it still aches and the bridge doesn't feel right any longer. The bridge connects from the 2 eye teeth and 4 replaced teeth.
Avatar m tn It looks like a 3 inch protrusion from his hip. Mistake or no, it does not appear to bother him in any way, and in fact I saw him use it to climb on the couch today. The rescue tells us he needs a second surgery, which they will pay for, but my question is, why is it necessary? If it's causing no pain, and it's not urgent (we were told it's ok to wait a couple months) why do it at all?
Avatar f tn Before she pricked my finger, I looked at the tray table where she had the materials needed to perform the test. I saw a little box with disposable lancets that looked grey with a purple button and purple base (where the needle comes out). These lancets were clearly unused as they still had the purple "stopper" on them, that needs to be pulled out before you can use them. Well, this phlebotomist did not grab a "new" lancet from that box...
Avatar n tn it is no nominal testing side, before me get into the room, the guy that lwas getting out, was complety upset(i saw his face) plus they took a while when he was in there, they took him to another room ( maybe this guy got(+) on his test. they i came in, ad they done my test ( it came by neg) but after couple hours thinking about this guy. and the procedd of the testing, i didt see if the lancet was knew or not,,she has it already on the table. with no cup on top!
Avatar f tn When i was 11 a girl broke my right index finger at school and no one believed me when I said it was broken. So obviously it wasn't splinted or even buddy tapped. In the eight grade my mom took me to a doctor that told her that my finger did break and that the bone healed eight degrees off. After six months of trying to buddy tape it and splint it, the bone only moved two degrees. The doctor recommended surgery to pin and straighten out the bone and my mom decided on getting me the surgery.
Avatar f tn Having toe amputation in two weeks. Anyone know about balance,recoverytime,walking,reehab...Anything. I'M having no success finding info.
Avatar f tn Our dog has an amputation scheduled for her front right leg, due to bone cancer. She is 9 years old, but apart from the bum leg, she is very healthy and active, (the cancer has not affected her behavior, energy, or appetite- just her mobility with the one leg). My neighbor was shocked when I told her we have an amputation scheduled, (since my dog is older). Also the diagnosing Vet told me he would not recommend amputation of a front leg on a large dog.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with herpes whitlow in my right ring finger...it is a very insidius disease as it is prone to secondary infections and is very costly due to loss of work and topical and oral treatments.Today I start suppression therapy on Valtrex and Zovirax cream if needed. In the last two years I've had at least ten outbreaks and it is really getting me down. Is there any new treatments being researched for this disease?
Avatar m tn Then I realized that I had not cut myself and that the blood had come from the underside of the table and was probably from the delivery men who were not wearing gloves – I looked under the table and saw additional small stain which was mostly dry. I didn’t make a swallowing action when I licked my finger but didn’t wash my mouth out immediately either – only after 10 minutes or so. Also, I have no oral hygiene issues that I know of.
Avatar f tn Yes, you should be standing with your feet together and your eyes closed.
280418 tn?1306325910 How is your husbands' finger? I also had a glomus tumor on my left ring finger just under the nail bed. I had it removed by surgery and it has now grown back. I was told that this tumor is very had to get completely since it is made up of a bundle of nerves and that there was a possibility that is could grow back. It is now more painful than ever. I bumped it just this weekend on a drawer handle and almost lost it.
Avatar n tn Hello! I hope you get a reply for I am going through the same thing with my 70+ yr old Dad! Told he won't live through amputation so he said don't bother but the gangrene in one area is spreading so quickly! Other areas are dry but I am thinking this is wet! It is getting worse everyday! He has dry gangrene that hasn't changed at all! Hospice is involved now....the Hospice nurse hasn't given you any idea? I am told that sepsis is a possibility....

630047 tn?1289248521 Well his wife looks like a Rottweiller to me if you saw her eyes in any of the close ups, sorry, i mean she is very vigilant,
Avatar n tn If your foot is actually black then you must be seen today or risk amputation. Bruising is to be expected. A doctor will make sure the bones are properly aligned before/after casting. If they are not aligned correctly then they will not heal correctly. Sometimes a break will not show on initial xrays.
Avatar n tn I too have a cut thumb from a table saw, and its been almost 4 weeks and the tip of my thumb looks as tho it wants to slide off due to scabing not keeping it attached. I had stitches but they were removed a week ago a which point i was alllowed to expose it to air. I dont see any signs of infection just concered as to if it should maybe be stitched back up for longer?
Avatar f tn I am looking to find a t-shirt that will fit my dog following a front leg amputation. The sites I've found don't have sizes large enough for my dog, (a big Chesapeake, just under 100 lbs). Any ideas?
Avatar f tn I noticed the worker had a band aid on her finger while I was getting dressed. I am concerned that the finger with the band aid is the one she put up my anus. Am I at risk for h.I.v. or any s.t.d.s from the encounter?
Avatar n tn I would say it would be a good idea to check it out, you may need a tetanus shot and it sounds like it is infected, put some OTC anti biotic cream on a band aid on it till you can get it checked out, Good Luck
Avatar f tn Hi, my chinchilla, Screetch, had an emergency amputation of his right hind leg approximately one week ago. He remained in vet care until three days after the surgery. He came home with antibiotics and needing to be force fed. My question is two fold. First, will i need to supplement "good" bacteria, to replace those destroyed by the antibiotics?
Avatar n tn After the nurse had pricked my finger, I accidentally touched the steel gurney that the nurse uses to administer the test. Because my finger had just been pricked, I had to wipe some of my blood off of the steel table/gurney. I assume these stations would be cleaned and disinfected, but would this be a potential risk for hepatitis? I'm certain there was no other blood or body fluids on the table when I touched it, and I assume it was cleaned because I was the first patient of the day.
