572547 tn?1218924130 First, I understand your frustration. Before I found out what my first trigger finger was, I was fully prepared to request amputation because it was making my entire hand useless. I've had 3 surgeries over the past 2 years, freeing 4 fingers and removing a ganglion cyst from one. Did your surgeon send you to physical therapy? You need to keep moving your hands and fingers, despite the pain. Scar tissue (adhesions) starts to form a couple of months out from the surgery.
Avatar n tn Several years ago I was indirectly struck by lightning on my finger. Ever since I have had severe nerve pain. Cold is simply unbearable let alone if I hit my finger on anything. I have been to several doctors and NO one can help me. I have even attempted accupuncture to no avail. I am currenty taking Lyrica, which helps a little, but not much. I have tried topicals as well. I am to the point where I just want my finger amputated. The pain is just too much!! Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn It is difficult to confirm and a lot of doctors are not qualified or sensitive enough to look for it. I got the RSD from a finger amputation, and several months after that started having pain in other fingers which spread up my arm, then my whole left side. Does your wife have variances in temperature of her extremities that are affected?
1284144 tn?1292181757 My thought is that it would be best NOT to push or force him to look. He may sense that it is best for him, and your relationship, for him to be able to retain in his memory the images of you "before," and then to enjoy with you the final "after" results, without other painful or disturbing images interfering... You and friends seem to have wonderful attitudes about your surgery and reconstruction process!
Avatar f tn Having toe amputation in two weeks. Anyone know about balance,recoverytime,walking,reehab...Anything. I'M having no success finding info.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with herpes whitlow in my right ring finger...it is a very insidius disease as it is prone to secondary infections and is very costly due to loss of work and topical and oral treatments.Today I start suppression therapy on Valtrex and Zovirax cream if needed. In the last two years I've had at least ten outbreaks and it is really getting me down. Is there any new treatments being researched for this disease?
280418 tn?1306325910 How is your husbands' finger? I also had a glomus tumor on my left ring finger just under the nail bed. I had it removed by surgery and it has now grown back. I was told that this tumor is very had to get completely since it is made up of a bundle of nerves and that there was a possibility that is could grow back. It is now more painful than ever. I bumped it just this weekend on a drawer handle and almost lost it.
Avatar n tn Hello! I hope you get a reply for I am going through the same thing with my 70+ yr old Dad! Told he won't live through amputation so he said don't bother but the gangrene in one area is spreading so quickly! Other areas are dry but I am thinking this is wet! It is getting worse everyday! He has dry gangrene that hasn't changed at all! Hospice is involved now....the Hospice nurse hasn't given you any idea? I am told that sepsis is a possibility....
Avatar n tn I had gone to palm springs california and what not, (did not wear any sun protection lotions) and a while after I started noticing spots on my left hand mostly on the fingers and a mark on my right index finger that goes from my knuckle to the middle of my finger. If anyone could please take a look at the images linked and please tell me if this is something serious i should worry about or only skin damage caused by too much unprotected sunlight. http://i288.photobucket.

Avatar f tn I am looking to find a t-shirt that will fit my dog following a front leg amputation. The sites I've found don't have sizes large enough for my dog, (a big Chesapeake, just under 100 lbs). Any ideas?
Avatar n tn I would say it would be a good idea to check it out, you may need a tetanus shot and it sounds like it is infected, put some OTC anti biotic cream on a band aid on it till you can get it checked out, Good Luck
Avatar f tn Hi, my chinchilla, Screetch, had an emergency amputation of his right hind leg approximately one week ago. He remained in vet care until three days after the surgery. He came home with antibiotics and needing to be force fed. My question is two fold. First, will i need to supplement "good" bacteria, to replace those destroyed by the antibiotics?
Avatar f tn We rescued a german shephard puppy that needed a right front leg amputation from the knee down. That was three months ago on Aug 17th. He is now 7 months old and the wound is still not healed. About 6 days after surgery the wound burst open, had aslight infection. We cleaned it up got him on atibiotics and the wound was left open to drain. The wound then ulcerated to pretty good size. It has slowly since granulated some but it's still wide open. The outside edges of skin are white and hard.
Avatar f tn Our dog has an amputation scheduled for her front right leg, due to bone cancer. She is 9 years old, but apart from the bum leg, she is very healthy and active, (the cancer has not affected her behavior, energy, or appetite- just her mobility with the one leg). My neighbor was shocked when I told her we have an amputation scheduled, (since my dog is older). Also the diagnosing Vet told me he would not recommend amputation of a front leg on a large dog.
2110593 tn?1334180717 The first one I noticed showed up in 5th grade on my middle finger. What could these be? Are they just harmless bumps or are they a sign of something else? Should I worry about them or not? Here are some images I took of them, I've not been able to find anything else online that looks like them, so what do you all think? Avatar m tn Went to see an oral surgeon 3 months ago about a problem that had nothing to do with the root amputation he did on a tooth in my mouth that was part of a fixed bridge. He said I had an infection and he suggested that a root amputation be performed. He removed bone and gum tissue an amputated the root. 3 months later it still aches in the area he worked on. Went back to see him he took new x-rays saw no infection and said he didn't know why it is still aching.
Avatar m tn hey um my i was bitting my finger nail and then it kinda came off, and now it wont grow normal like its not connected to the nail bed, a quick google search led me here with the conclusion on "onycholysis" my question is can it be fixed? images http://i45.tinypic.com/r8h4ow.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/2zew490.
Avatar f tn my gf was diagnosed today with a skin cancer under the pinky finer , under the nail. it has eat away at the bone and she is facing partial amputation....
Avatar n tn Please don't type in all Caps, that is akin to shouting on the Internet. You should get a second opinion from another doctor at another hospital. Its highly unusual to diagnose foot amputation one day after toes were amputated. Something is not right with this surgeon's diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Thank you for responding. but root amputation! I'm not gona lie that sounds scary! would you explain that a bit? Is it done out side of the mouth?
Avatar f tn Three days ago his bone with tumour (femur) fractured and now we are left with two options either rod insertion or amputation. With rod, chemotherapy wont be possible until the muscle heals properly. Along with that he has persistent high BP 165/110 high pulse 118 . On ECHO he has Little percardial effusion + hypokinesia with only 35% EJECTION FRACTION. We are only left with the option of amputation as the rod insertion will spread it further to other organs . Suggest me what should we do?
Avatar f tn It sounds like you need to get those results reviewed by a second vet, or better yet .. get a complete second opinion. Amputation is a very last resort. Cats do not do well with Amputation, but dogs do. Get a second opinion. You have a right to have those xrays an mri films looked at by someone else. If her CNS is showing some abnormalities then all the homeopathic and scientific medicine is not going to help. I think you know that.
Avatar m tn ve always noticed ghost images, except last night I noticed on this one particular street light that is naturally white-LED, from a certain distance - it has ghost images, although each image is blue/green/slight red, but as I get closer it corrects itself and the light forms all together just like all other ghost images I see on some things.
