Avatar f tn We rescued a german shephard puppy that needed a right front leg amputation from the knee down. That was three months ago on Aug 17th. He is now 7 months old and the wound is still not healed. About 6 days after surgery the wound burst open, had aslight infection. We cleaned it up got him on atibiotics and the wound was left open to drain. The wound then ulcerated to pretty good size. It has slowly since granulated some but it's still wide open. The outside edges of skin are white and hard.
572547 tn?1218924130 hi please could some1 help me asap ive had the injections for trigger finger and on the 9th of april this year i had the operation ((worst mistake of my life)) now i have a swollen hand my fingers r swollen and im in alot of pain i get bad cramp in my fingers my partner has to massage my hand and help me with alot of things as my hand feels so weak i cant even write a line on a piece of paper without stopping for a break sometimes i cant move my fingers n i get pain from my hand upto my elbow
572547 tn?1218924130 First, I understand your frustration. Before I found out what my first trigger finger was, I was fully prepared to request amputation because it was making my entire hand useless. I've had 3 surgeries over the past 2 years, freeing 4 fingers and removing a ganglion cyst from one. Did your surgeon send you to physical therapy? You need to keep moving your hands and fingers, despite the pain. Scar tissue (adhesions) starts to form a couple of months out from the surgery.
Avatar n tn Several years ago I was indirectly struck by lightning on my finger. Ever since I have had severe nerve pain. Cold is simply unbearable let alone if I hit my finger on anything. I have been to several doctors and NO one can help me. I have even attempted accupuncture to no avail. I am currenty taking Lyrica, which helps a little, but not much. I have tried topicals as well. I am to the point where I just want my finger amputated. The pain is just too much!! Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn You might end up with a toe, foot or leg amputation. This nothing to fool around with.
Avatar f tn I had an accident that resulted in a scrape across my face from contact with some loose bricks. I am worried that it isn't healing properly. The day after it happened, I panicked because I had to work all day, and covered it with makeup. It was cream foundation. I powdered it slightly. I am worried that I have infected it because of the make up. It is swollen around the bridge of my nose, and under my eyes. The swelling increased on the 3rd day, yesterday, and is about the same today.
Avatar m tn Now, she is having problems with nerve damage and the vet is considering amputation, with the alterntive being euthanasia. It has been 3 weeks since the injury and she has spent about 12 days at the vet. I know that cats can live comfortably with 3 legs, but I am worried that I am putting her through too much. I don't want to be selfish and keep her alive when it is not the best for her. Any thoughts would be welcome.
Avatar n tn We have two female 8 month old cats (sisters) that we just got spayed and declawed a few days ago. Atreyu seems to be fine besides her paws being a lil bit soar, but Lelu seems very tired still and kind of moody towards her sister. She doesn't really walk around to much just to get food and go to the litter box. Her paws and stomach look like they are healing fine. I'm just wondering if she will go back to her normal crazy, playful self once her paws heal completly.
Avatar f tn Having toe amputation in two weeks. Anyone know about balance,recoverytime,walking,reehab...Anything. I'M having no success finding info.
Avatar m tn I broke my pinkie finger in Nov. it was xrayed twice. 2 wks apart. The break appeared on the second xray. My dr had me buddy wrap it. The break is at the second joint right under the knuckle. It is still swollen. It is also red and very painful. If i bump it at all it is unbearable. I know I will need to go back to the dr but I would like to have some idea of what may be wrong in order to ask the right question. Can anyone here help?
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with herpes whitlow in my right ring finger...it is a very insidius disease as it is prone to secondary infections and is very costly due to loss of work and topical and oral treatments.Today I start suppression therapy on Valtrex and Zovirax cream if needed. In the last two years I've had at least ten outbreaks and it is really getting me down. Is there any new treatments being researched for this disease?
Avatar m tn Hi, I have a very small fracture(confirmed by x ray) of my little finger on my right hand and am wondering about healing time. I have had it strapped to a buddy finger for about 4 weeks now. There is still a small amount of pain, but I am very aware of how much strength I am losing in my finger. I am due to start a Masters in university playing violin in 5 weeks so need to start rehabilitation of the finger as soon as possible, but don't want to further injure the finger.
Avatar n tn s going to happen if this continues, and, depending on what originally brought all this about, you can actually lose function in the feet or face amputation.
280418 tn?1306325910 How is your husbands' finger? I also had a glomus tumor on my left ring finger just under the nail bed. I had it removed by surgery and it has now grown back. I was told that this tumor is very had to get completely since it is made up of a bundle of nerves and that there was a possibility that is could grow back. It is now more painful than ever. I bumped it just this weekend on a drawer handle and almost lost it.
Avatar n tn Hello! I hope you get a reply for I am going through the same thing with my 70+ yr old Dad! Told he won't live through amputation so he said don't bother but the gangrene in one area is spreading so quickly! Other areas are dry but I am thinking this is wet! It is getting worse everyday! He has dry gangrene that hasn't changed at all! Hospice is involved now....the Hospice nurse hasn't given you any idea? I am told that sepsis is a possibility....

Avatar f tn I am looking to find a t-shirt that will fit my dog following a front leg amputation. The sites I've found don't have sizes large enough for my dog, (a big Chesapeake, just under 100 lbs). Any ideas?
Avatar f tn The skin is peeling off and it causes non healing wounds. I tried to put some creams like Drapolene and Flamazine, it kinda heal the open wound but the peeling won't stop. I also tried to go to a Dermatologist but he just let me observe if its an allergy. I hope someone could help me with the problem. Thank you.
Avatar f tn t stick my finger inside and when I wipe sometimes it hurts really bad. It still stings sometimes when I pee too.
Avatar m tn The index finger is the worst, being numb during most of the day. The middle finger, ring finger and thumb also have burns. All fingers are dexterous, I can feel pressure when applied and nerves seem ok. The index finger is burned on the area near the nail bed including the nail itself, the burn is isolated to the right side of the nail and finger. My question being what will a Doctor do to ease my pain and help the healing process?
Avatar n tn I would say it would be a good idea to check it out, you may need a tetanus shot and it sounds like it is infected, put some OTC anti biotic cream on a band aid on it till you can get it checked out, Good Luck
Avatar f tn Hi, my chinchilla, Screetch, had an emergency amputation of his right hind leg approximately one week ago. He remained in vet care until three days after the surgery. He came home with antibiotics and needing to be force fed. My question is two fold. First, will i need to supplement "good" bacteria, to replace those destroyed by the antibiotics?
Avatar f tn There is no point in getting a second opinion. The xray would have showed a broken bone. Your finger would have been strapped up to the next finger to keep it straight and broken bones take about 6 weeks to mend. torn tendons take much longer. I damaged my fibrial posterial tendon (at the back of my leg) by using the treadmill at the gym. I couldn't use my let for 9 months because of the swelling and pain. As you are concerned, you should see your doctor to put your mind at ease.
Avatar f tn Our dog has an amputation scheduled for her front right leg, due to bone cancer. She is 9 years old, but apart from the bum leg, she is very healthy and active, (the cancer has not affected her behavior, energy, or appetite- just her mobility with the one leg). My neighbor was shocked when I told her we have an amputation scheduled, (since my dog is older). Also the diagnosing Vet told me he would not recommend amputation of a front leg on a large dog.
