Common Questions and Answers about Finger amputation guitar

Avatar f tn I am pretty worried about losing mobility in this finger due to the fact that I am a guitar/bass player and it plays a pretty necessary role in that. Do I need to try and make another appoinment with a doctor? Could this be tendon or ligament damage? Or am I just freaking out because I haven’t played music in over a week? I refuse to believe the medical info I’ve read that says a dislocated finger may never regain full mobility. I need it! Thanks for your advice.

Avatar n tn My son is 13yrs old and his finger tips are peeling (healthy skin not dry), I haven't changed anything as far as soaps go and it doesn't hurt him. I don't know what to do as far as treatment goes.....he is self-conscious about it, what can I do? Thank you, R.
Avatar m tn I'm a musician. I play guitar and cello. Now, I've played guitar long enough where I over time developed calluses on my finger tips. However, now for cello I need a callus on the side of my thumb for a certain technique but I don't have time to develop it for weeks or months. If I regularly cut away at my thumb with a razor or something will a callus still build by means of artificial friction ?
Avatar f tn I have a middle finger that twitches and my right hand had action tremors , what can be going wrong and a warm painful sensation in the hand and finger
455167 tn?1259257871 hi all. i was just given a probable diagnosis of dupuytrens contracture, as a guitar player i am incredibly concerned now that i have researched it some. i went to unc orthopaedics in chapel hill to address a node on my left index finger (see photo) today, and they tried to aspirate it with a syringe with no success. then they shot cortisone into it. now it hurts so bad that i can't play the guitar at all now.
4100205 tn?1349787589 May be you are growing an early callus possibly relating to your guitar. Alternate diagnosis would be pompholyx relating to fungus elsewhere.ok?
Avatar n tn ve developed red, small, itchy spots on my palms only and about one or two on each finger around the cuticle. They are under the skin, and do not bulge, blister, scale, peel, or burn at all. They aren't very noticeable unless looked at closely, and they do not itch much except occasionally and when they do itch, they itch very, very badly.
19606750 tn?1480880764 Appears to have healed incorrectly, with knuckle bulging towards little finger, and the top of ring finger leaning towards middle finger somewhat. Finger works well enough though weaker/clumsier than normal it seems. Main motivation to fix is to make it easier for typing, and playing musical instruments (piano/guitar/violin) where I find it hampers progress in terms of agility/precision (I'm right handed, so use left hand for frets).
572547 tn?1218924130 First, I understand your frustration. Before I found out what my first trigger finger was, I was fully prepared to request amputation because it was making my entire hand useless. I've had 3 surgeries over the past 2 years, freeing 4 fingers and removing a ganglion cyst from one. Did your surgeon send you to physical therapy? You need to keep moving your hands and fingers, despite the pain. Scar tissue (adhesions) starts to form a couple of months out from the surgery.
Avatar n tn Several years ago I was indirectly struck by lightning on my finger. Ever since I have had severe nerve pain. Cold is simply unbearable let alone if I hit my finger on anything. I have been to several doctors and NO one can help me. I have even attempted accupuncture to no avail. I am currenty taking Lyrica, which helps a little, but not much. I have tried topicals as well. I am to the point where I just want my finger amputated. The pain is just too much!! Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn However, I am unable to comfortably use a guitar pick when playing guitar. What is going on? Should I see a medical doctor?
Avatar m tn Need help in directing me to specific therapy to work on residual paralysis/weakness in my left hand due to a bout of Parsonage-Turner Syndrome. My grip is weaker but improving. The specific issue I'm having is in playing the guitar, which prevents me from forming a full or partial barre chord (where the first or first and second phalanges press multiple strings against the fretboard).
Avatar m tn I cut my left index finger on the second joint, its healed so there is no scab but the scar keeps callusing and it aches a little specially when i play bare chords on my guitar did it just heal wrong? might there be stuff in there still? or do calluses caused by cuts on your palm skin always keep callusing forever?
582281 tn?1267822196 I've never heard of it, maybe it's barely coming out as a Phase I trial drug, I don't advise being that much of a test subject, but the choice is yours. You wouldn't want to grow an extra finger unless you play guitar or work in a carnival. lol You can check this site out and see all the new drugs currently in trial. Hey maybe someone else will chime in with some good news. good luck http://www.hcvdrugs.
Avatar m tn I have 3 herniated discs one which causes nerve pain - This became much worse after a car accident but it started before that I have osteoarthritis - This is directly linked to guitar playing and the fingers I use most are the ones that are most visibly affected. I also get this kind of pain with doing anything too much with a specific finger, say using my pointer finger to control my laptop mouse pad.
Avatar f tn The last couple times I went to donate blood something odd happens. When they prick my finger on my left hand no hemoglobins show up but they do when they test my right hand which was still a bit low at 11.7. Is this a concern that I should have blood tests done? I tried searching the web about it and could not find any information.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 24 yo male and I play guitar. Since last year or so I have been experiencing pain in the ulnar region of my wrist. It worsens with wrist extension all the time and with turning doorknobs, when I apply pressure to that region or when I play guitar too much. This pain is present all the time. In the x-ray of my wrist the doctor did not find anything and he said pain would go away on its own but still it's getting worse each day.
Avatar f tn Having toe amputation in two weeks. Anyone know about balance,recoverytime,walking,reehab...Anything. I'M having no success finding info.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with herpes whitlow in my right ring finger...it is a very insidius disease as it is prone to secondary infections and is very costly due to loss of work and topical and oral treatments.Today I start suppression therapy on Valtrex and Zovirax cream if needed. In the last two years I've had at least ten outbreaks and it is really getting me down. Is there any new treatments being researched for this disease?
