neupogen

414327 tn?1208306037 I am VERY proud to say that I am an AML survivor! I was diagnosed with AML on December 12, 1983 and did high dose chemo until March, 1985. I have been in remission ever since. Yeppers, that's right I am one of the unheard of "chemo" cures of AML and have been in remission 23 years. I contracted HCV from one of a zillion blood and platelet tranfusions that I received while on chemo.
493068 tn?1224765315 my stats seem to go up and down so I only have to take it now every 2 wks. It is unknown whether filgrastim (Neupogen) increases or decreasses an individual's risk of developing cancer. Based on limited long-term data from healthy people ( if a person is healthy why would they need neupogen in the first place ) who have received filgrastim, no long-term risks have been found so far. good luck to you....hope this helped!
Avatar f tn During systole (pumping phase) the pressure in the lower chamber increases in the left ventricle and that causes a prolapse of a mitral valve leaflet into the atrium (upper chamber). That is consistent with MVP, but usually there is some leakage of blood back into the upper chamber. The thckness of the leaflet may provide a favorable result that blocks any backflow!?.
9771234 tn?1405793808 s actually a measurement from the pubic bone to the fundus... not the placenta (which could be anywhere in the uterus!!) And AML got it exactly right as to why.
Avatar m tn My mother in law in the Philippines needs this medication. Then the doctor said she might be okay after that..She has Dungee..I live here in the USA and these meds just happen to be very high priced there. Please be serious.
Avatar f tn With this figures, I could surmise that the nurse is talking about your white blood counts or the neutrophil counts. White blood cell precursors in the bone marrow are usually affected by chemotherapy and this can lead to low levels of these blood cells. Since white blood cells are our body's defense against infections, the manifestations of low white blood counts would include fevers or any focus of infection.
Avatar m tn I have AML and am taking chemotherapy. However, as of the last 2 months, my white blood cell count escalates about 5 weeks after my chemo was last taken. I am developing lumps in my legs and arms which hurt, swells and turns red. They seem to go and come, but find this extraordinarily strange. I need to know if I should take chemo every 4 weeks instead of every 6 weeks as this would prevent my white blood count to escalate to these levels. My blood test this week had a WBC rading of 84.4.
Avatar f tn ALSO as women age, the incidence of twins increases. As for AML. there DOES appear to be a hereditary link. First degree relatives (such as sisters and brothers) of AML patients have a three-fold increased risk for developing the disease. I am very sorry to hear your story, and can completely understand your concerns. If you want that girl badly enough, it is probably worth the risk. But of course you must think in terms of what is best for the whole family. Good luck!

Avatar m tn He is diagnosed with AML (Accute Myleoid Leukemia) M-7 (Accute Megakaryoblastic leukemia) with 33% blasts in blood smear. Doctor suggested aggressive chemotherapy on him. Kindly suggest if it's right to follow doctors suggestion ? I'm worried about the stage of the disease and also the trauma that he has to go through with this kind of therapy. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I heard recently on a tv show that there are blood tests that will confirm whether you are likely to get leukemia. Both my parents died of leukemia in 2009. My father had AML, my mother had CML. Can anyone give me some information I am seeking? I was asked to have a blood test taken in 2009, and my doctor then said there was something they would watch, but then she retired, and I have no idea what she was talking about. Any info would be a benefit! Thank you!
Avatar m tn My doctor says it's just fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2003 and AML (Acute Mylogenous Leukemia) in 2008 (40mo remission). Over the past 6 mo or so I've had worsening symptoms with a gradual onset of weakness and fatigue in my arms, followed by muscle twitching in my right hand, some numness and tingling in hands, and cramping in the arms and right hand.
Avatar n tn Filgrastim is also prescribed as pegfilgrastim (called Neulasta). My doctor used the 500 neutrophill count as a cut-off, so every time I got down around 500 I used Neulasta. The interferon drops neutrophils and platelets. Some people can do okay with low neutrophils but just as many end up with kidney and sinus infections, etc., that make you even more miserable.
Avatar m tn It was wbc 3.3 and plateletes 160000. I am afraid of Aml or cll. Please tell me about it.
Avatar m tn Interferon can cause a condition called ‘neutropenia’ or the suppression of white blood cells necessary to fight infection. In some countries, the drug Neupogen (filgrastim) is available to combat this, and to keep patients on full dose HCV meds. Filgrastim and PEG-filgrastim are relatively expensive; and they might not be available in all areas.

Avatar m tn Taken 21 injections of Pegasys 180 mcg till date. i am having very wide fluctuations in WBC and ANC. The range is between 6500 and 1400 for WBC and 4700 and 260 for ANC. Doctors unable to give any explanation for such wide variations on a dose to dose basis. Till date, I have also taken 5 doses of Filgrastim - the WBC Stimulator. Can you pleae advice possible reasons for such wide fluctuations.
Avatar n tn Pt has acute leukemia, AML. Symptoms are worse with exertion so I am thinking it is due to low oxygen levels. Has anyone else experienced this?

Avatar m tn Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim) or NEUPOGEN® (Filgrastim) may reduce your chance of getting an infection, but it does not prevent all infections. An infection can happen anytime your neutrophil counts are low. Look for signs of infection, such as fever, chills, rash, sore throat, diarrhea, or redness, swelling, or pain around a cut or sore. If you have any of these signs, contact your health care professional immediately. http://www.neulasta.com/starting-chemo-with-neulasta/about-neulasta-neupogen.
1986676 tn?1329862471 Bone pain associated with filgrastim usually has localized in the lower back, posterior iliac crests, and sternum. Bone pain primarily occurred at initiation of therapy due to a transient increases in white blood cell (WBC) count, 2 to 3 days before a rise in peripheral blood neutrophils, and occurred more frequently with higher dosages. Analgesics may be helpful; however, pain may resolve with continued therapy and generally resolves within a few hours following discontinuation of therapy.
