981885 tn?1248585122 I have been putting up with this pain on and off for a year now and now it is spreading to my shoulders, back, knees and ankles but the pain is most dominate and painful in my ribs. Only one doctor said that it could be Fibromyalgia but he basically said that the pain will come and go for the rest of my life and I will have to learn to deal with it. After hearing that I gave up going to the doctors, but now the pains are getting harder to handle and I would really like help.
Avatar f tn im tring yoga, but after a couple days i am ready to quit from the pain. does it get better or should i quit.
723959 tn?1314744225 Dusty brought up a great point. I use to have private pilates, yoga classes and I had to stop everything. For years I would say I couldn't exercise. I even stopped massage therapy. It was all stressing my muscles and I would get one flare up after another. Seven months ago and 205 pounds after 5 surgeries on my back/neck I had enough. I though I'm exercising if it kills me. I had to take that weight off. I started on the bike at the gym. It started low back pain, my low back is fused.
Avatar f tn Once I addressed the underlying problem that caused my Ptsd, I stopped using medical mj and started doing yoga and practicing mindfulness meditation. I got out of a very painful fibromyalgia period with the things I mentioned above, and have not had an episode in over a year. Like I said before, I stopped using med. mj but then started again for my back pain thinking I might have another episode about 10 months ago. When it never came, I stopped again.
Avatar n tn i want to ask that if yoga therapy is the best way of losing weight.
7864743 tn?1394869696 It's possible that you are just a little toxic. You might try a green smoothie with parsley (removes chemicals and drugs) and cilantro (removes heavy metals). Add whatever else you want, but be sure to use these two herbs. Take probiotics also. If you have taken antibiotics at any time in the past, you have probably killed off the friendly flora. Stay away from Aspartame (diet drinks and chewing gum). Wishing you the best - please let me know how you fare.
336415 tn?1212359542 I am new to it...but I have also been doing light yoga. I am not a yoga type. But if you have a good guided practitioner in yoga, then you will walk away feeling sedated without drugs. It really takes effort to focus but if you roll with it, it helps you to settle a racing anxious mind. It is almost like a massage but on the brain. Again, I recommend a stress relief type of yoga...it may not be for you but give it at least a couple of sessions.
675329 tn?1297288378 boy o boy do I agree with VintageChicken. Your doctor sounds like a prescription nut!. Do you have a diagnosis? or is he just pulling the names of medicine out of his, ah, er, hat? I must say I've never heard of Gabapentin nor Zonegram. I'm sorry to say I have heard of Topamax-simply no place in Fibromyalgia treatment from every report I've heard, read, seen and made from personal experience. It cripples every mind that I've learned about.
Avatar f tn I also have been prescribed a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (Tens Unit) by my Pain Management Specialist as well as complete Physical Therapy and Pool Therapy.

Avatar f tn Hi, I am wondering if fibromyalgia can be missed for years before being diagnosed? When I was a kid up until now I have always had muscle pain. Charlie horses, cramps, tingling in my feet & swelling. No doctor ever said anything to my parents or me. Now I'm 34 haven't been able to work for the last 4 wks due to muscle pain, cramps so bad I'm unable to walk, confusion so bad it interfered with my work, my immune system is basically null & void.
Avatar f tn re in severe pain then you should come up with alternative pain management plans first (acupuncture, water therapy, yoga, etc). Are you taking the percs as prescribed or are you abusing them? It's important to be honest with your doctor and reach out for help. Good luck!!
398920 tn?1218779347 A change in place and short outings with family can be helpful to relax and bring down stress. Physical therapy and massage therapy should be tried for couple of weeks. Follow a healthy sleep cycle regularly. Keep updating me if you get your sleep study and the advice thereafter. Take care.
Dog I am 32 yrs old & have had a weight problem all my life. I am disabled with Epilepsy, Fibromyalgia, & Degenerative Disc Disease. So I am unable to work out anymore. What can I do to lose weight now?
Avatar f tn thanks for the feedback...i've read up on anti depressants for sleep and pain..i suffer from terrible insomnia(for years) i've also had adverse effects from anti-depressants.. another problem is anti-inflamitories...thay all cause severe edema and raise my blood pressure extremely high and i can't go there, as i've already had a mini stroke(even lyrica causes this. i've been on darvocet..(.the only medication that agrees with me) and doesn't fry my stomache...
Avatar f tn I am a 34 year old woman with diagnosed fibromyalgia. I went through many different doctors, many tests, etc to get this awful diagnosis. I was diagnosed about 8 years ago. The diagnosis came after shortly after having Lyme Disease. I have tried many different therapies for relief, but nothing has worked for any length of time. For example, I have tried massage therapy in combination with a chiropractor, acupuncture, lyrica, yoga, etc. I don't want to be on pain meds my whole life.
Avatar f tn There are not many healthcare providers really know how to treat fibromyalgia without giving you the side effects. There is a group of doctors that treat fibromyalgia using Brain Based Therapy. You can learn more about this group at the website http://lifechangingcare.com/index.php . Fibromyalgia is very tricky to treat because it is related to stress affected the central nervous system. Stress can be physical, chemical, and emotional.
