Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia update

fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn Fibromyalgia may be that to some extent (considered a diagnosis when doctors run out of ideas), but in order to definitively diagnose you with fibromyalgia, you have to have a minimum of a certain number of positive trigger/tender points to test positive for that painful condition (I have two sibling diagnosed with it). There are many causes of fever and low grade fever (see private message) and if what you've listed is all they checked on, they were not thorough by any means.
Avatar n tn Pain with skin and pressure points can indeed be a sign of fibromyalgia. Please stop back and give us an update.
Avatar f tn My ligaments were large and arthritic and wrapped around things so he had to take them down a bit. He said that arthritic ligaments can be a sign of fibromyalgia(?). So if I still have pain I will get that checked out. Not one headache yet! My tinnitus is almost gone! My neck is stiff and very sore, but they don't want me to do much more than movements I can tolerate until the staples are out (9 more days). So I consider it a success at tis point.
Avatar m tn Well my doctor said i definately have fibromyalgia he said i have 18 out of 18 trigger points.... i'm on lyrica twice a day and peroxatine at night before i go to sleep and 4 lortab a day.... i still hurt but i am getting a lil bit more sleep :O) and that is great! he is also sending me to a physical therapist for myofacial pain, back pain, and manual therapy....so atleast finally they are listening!!!
Avatar m tn I have a friend who is diagnosed (several years) with Fibromyalgia. She recently had an endoscopy procedure, came home (I was designated to watch her due to the drugs would cause temporary amnesia) and was suffering neck pain that she placed a pack of ice on and slept for a couple hours. I helped her when she awoke with some breathing excercises, laying on her back and stretching the neck muscles out. This lasted about 45 minutes.
8248462 tn?1406996016 t think it affects me. Do others feel pain like they have been beaten all over? I used to be treated for fibromyalgia so I am not sure if that is what is causing the pain now. Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians on here.
Avatar n tn but with this new diagnosis of possible rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia i am at a complete loss. what if they want to put me on pain meds, which i obviously need to function, but i know i can't handle the responsiblity of taking the prescribed dose. i am used to taking 70 -75 percs when i was addicted. ugh. this is actually the very first time that i would need pain meds for pain, not to catch a buzz. how ironic is this? wow. i am speechless. i am at a complete loss.
Avatar f tn I was referred to the Mayo Clinic where I was diagnosed with evidently a derivative of Fibromyalgia called Central Sensitivity Syndrome and not given any prognosis or plan of action. All of the testing showed a slight narrowing of my spinal canal, an extra vertebrae in my lumbar spine, thoracic scoliosis, degenerative discs, bulging discs, no nerve damage anywhere, and only very mild structural issues in my feet including low arches.
Avatar f tn Hi eveyone:-) I just went to my first rheumy appoiintment at virginia mason in seattle on Tuesday. He drew 44 vials of blood, lip biopsy, xray of hips and urinalysis. He thinks I have an overlap of things with secondary sjogren's....spondyloarthritis, fibromyalgia, RA, secondary sjogren's, antiphospholipid acid antibodies (sticky blood), Lupus are the ones he threw out at me, but he is testing for a bunch! Had a vasovagal response to the smell of the suture....

Avatar f tn d come and give a little update. Jen and Maria, you mentioned fibromyalgia as a possible explanation for some of my symptoms so you might find this interesting. I saw my rheumatologist this past week. I have all sorts of ongoing symptoms so it's always hard to figure out what I want from an appointment with her or any of my other doctors. What I really want is answers and a diagnosis, but right now I would settle for some good symptom management. I never get either!
Avatar f tn Hi kristin That sounds like a positive neuro appt. That's interesting info about fibromyalgia and it must be reassuring that your neuro is so knowledgeable and supportive. And lovely to hear that you're feeling better! Thanks very much for keeping us updated. Let us know what your doc says about the FMS... I hope all continues well....
Avatar f tn Hello Deb, I do not take lyrica but my mother does and she has alot of health issues including fibromyalgia. She said it helps the pain but does not always last long enough. However, she is having back surgery in the next week or two so she has alot going on.Also, she said the lyrica makes her dizzy sometimes and sleepy.:( So becareful Deb and if you have other questions the pharmacist can give great info on meds etc. I'm glad you will be seeing the RA doc next week too!
Avatar m tn pinched nerve, arthritis and mild bulge disk in my lower spine, fibromyalgia, lupus and CNS lyme. MS kept poping up in between all those other thoughts, but your doctor is correct, there are lots of other things it could be. If you need to hope for something, hope for lyme, its the most treatable and be done with it of most the possible resolutions they offered me! But, that was my list, your doctor may have entirely different thoughts.
Avatar f tn Hi Quix, Yes, I agree with you that I gave the Lyrica MORE than its fair trial. It was prescribed for pain that I've been having on the bottom of my feet and "zaps" I've been getting in some of my toes when I wear certain shoes. I was really doing well on the Provigil and Amitriptyline prescribed for my Fibromyalgia, but - my GP thought the Lyrica might help w/ the foot pain - and it didn't. At this point I told him NO to more drugs for now.
Avatar m tn My doctor says it's related to my fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2003 and AML (Acute Mylogenous Leukemia) in 2008 (40mo remission). Over the past 6 mo or so I've had worsening symptoms with a gradual onset of weakness and fatigue in my arms, followed by muscle twitching in my right hand, and cramping in the arms and right hand. I have also noticed my right forearm, wrist and thumb are now considerably smaller than my left (I am right handed).
2010625 tn?1329372056 Pain is often part of depression; there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. It can come and go and sometimes changes. Your description sounds a bit like fibromyalgia, but I'm not a Dr. Have you tried pain meds...tylenol, ibuprofen, naprosyn, aspirin. If so, keep track of the pain, activity and meds to take to the doctor; it would be helpful in diagnosing you. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Work is getting worse for me I have to check my work over and over and I still find mistakes. I think I might need to resign. What kind of DR to I need to see for the fibromyalgia, does that have anything to do with my memory. I have tried to talk to my husband about all the things going on. He doesn't seem to want to listen. I don't know if its because he doesn't knoe ehat to do. I do not get much sleep at night the sleep.
Avatar f tn i have fibromyalgia amongst other complaints.fro about 2 years i have had a swollen abdomen-lumpy and tender which progressed to sore and protruding ribs.have had ct and mri scans which gave no clues.doctors seem to ignore symptons, now i have a feeling of tightness around my ribs and am sore all around them.it feels like ribs are digging in me.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia and so does my mother. From what I have learned it can stay the way it is now for the rest of your life or it can get worse. Try to stay on a daily routine sleep when your tired and don't overdue yourself, the best you can do is take good care of yourself hoping to help it not get worse. Very true, as bad as it gets for you.
4861077 tn?1360156139 I have now seen the rheumatologist and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia can any advise me as to what help I can get as some days these pains can be life limiting am finding it hard to even peel potatoes need advice thanks

Avatar n tn I can only turn my head to the left so far and I am getting pain and it goes up behind my ear and into my head could this be coming from my fibromyalgia? I have never had it there before. Mostly elbows and knees and shoulder sometimes.
Avatar n tn I have had fibromyalgia for 10 years. This past August of 06 I filed for short term disabilty, then when to long term disabilty. For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. Back in October I fell and broke my right leg. My question is loosing your balace, falling, etc. part of the fibromyalgia.
