Avatar f tn Hi! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I have horrible pain and my doctors are trying to work with me to find a treatment that doesn't involve heavy pain meds. I have serious issues with my digestive system and so most pain medicine such as vicoden(sp?) or any of those types constipate me. I was hoping for a natural suggestion to talk with my doctor about.
Avatar f tn It is a neurontin that works on nerves that create the pain of Fibromyalgia. I started out with a low dose and he has me continuing to add in doses until the pain is under control. Today is Monday and I feel 50% better. Also, Tramadol is recommended for pain relief with Fibro. He said opiates such as vicodin, oxy, morphine don't work well on nerve pain. Fibro is believed to be caused by over active nerve receptors in the brain so the gabba works to calm them down.

Avatar n tn hi. you might get more help if this wasnt posted in the dental forum. my mom just started taking cymbalta its an antidepressant but it seems to help her pain. i am not sure if its been approved for fibromyalgia but her dr had read a few articles about how it might help so he told the insurance company it was for depression caused by her pain so they would be sure to cover it. if your current dr isnt up to date with treatment options i would go to someone else. good luck!
Avatar f tn HI I would recommend a book for you----the metabolic treatment of fibromyalgia by Dr. john lowe. i would assume you can get it from amazon. they seem to have everything. good luck.
Monster ### FIBROMYALGIA SYMPTOMS Pain — The primary symptom of fibromyalgia is widespread (diffuse), chronic, and persistent pain. 230948 tn?1235844329 Any treatment you have should not be painful. You have fibromyalgia. Do you get flare ups after a treatment? I would die if somebody did a treatment like that on me and it was painful during. So be careful and don't be afraid to say if it's too painful. You don't need intense deep massage. Myo fascial release can help, fibro is a connective tissue dis-ease so of course myo fascial is involved.
1023657 tn?1251844941 One of them is exercise. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar f tn More over i found a higher connection of my pain problem with fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome (which i guess is a part of chronic fatigue syndrome, if i m not wrong)... I also tried to find treatments for these problems and found tht, my pains hv no origin and thy start anytime and go away anytime without any sensible explanation...so i thought may b cognitive behaviour therapy, graded exercise therapy or therapy for nociceptive system might help...
