hi. you might get more help if this wasnt posted in the dental forum. my mom just started taking cymbalta its an antidepressant but it seems to help her pain. i am not sure if its been approved for fibromyalgia but her dr had read a few articles about how it might help so he told the insurance company it was for depression caused by her pain so they would be sure to cover it. if your current dr isnt up to date with treatment options i would go to someone else. good luck!

Has anyone tried Celexa or any other anti-depressants for their Fibromyalgia? I was told it was approved this past June, of 2008, for the "treatment" of Fibromyalgia. If so, did it help any?

ve read that doctors say that taking opioids for the pain have not really been proven to help with fibromyalgia pain, but for me they do wonders. Not only do they relieve my pain substantially, they give me a boost of energy I have never had.

m not dealing with Fibromyalgia myself, but the same pressure is being applied across the board for any non-malignant pain treatment that is narcotic in nature. The migration towards pain management clinics is a reality now days, so you need to find yourself a good doctor, someone who's willing to fight against the restrictions that are being applied. The medications they have me on are for treating fibromyalgia but they are not saying that is what I have. My pain management dr thinks it may be from my treatment so he is sending me to a rheumatologist. I have tried the tramadol but I found myself in the bathroom at work crying my eyes out, begging the pain to stop. That is why I went back to the Norcos. It is a neurontin that works on nerves that create the pain of Fibromyalgia. I started out with a low dose and he has me continuing to add in doses until the pain is under control.
