fibromyalgia

Avatar m tn I had only once tested my hbsag quantity since my diagnosis two years ago. The test was done a few weeks ago and came out about 17000iu/ml. In other words quite high, that should warrant treatment immediately, in my opinion, though my dumb doctors won't put me on treatment yet. But I'm going to fight them and insist that I need antiviral treatment.
Avatar f tn I'm a 45yr. old female with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. I also have had a total hysterectomy in 1991. I take premarin for hormone replacement. Over the last 5 years or so I have noticed that the "peach fuzz" on my face, (blonde) was getting a little thicker. My hair was really short and my hairstylist at the time took clippers and shaved around the sides of my jawline near my ear lobe. I freaked out of course. He said it would not make it grow in faster.
Avatar f tn In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration approved Pregabalin (Lyrica) as the first drug for the treatment of fibromyalgia. In June 2008, a second drug, Cymbalta, which was previously approved for treating depression, was FDA approved for treating fibromyalgia as well. In 2009 the FDA approved milnacipran (Savella) for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Perhaps mention these to your doctor at next visit. Best wishes!

675329 tn?1297288378 boy o boy do I agree with VintageChicken. Your doctor sounds like a prescription nut!. Do you have a diagnosis? or is he just pulling the names of medicine out of his, ah, er, hat? I must say I've never heard of Gabapentin nor Zonegram. I'm sorry to say I have heard of Topamax-simply no place in Fibromyalgia treatment from every report I've heard, read, seen and made from personal experience. It cripples every mind that I've learned about.
Avatar n tn My husband was just diagnosed as pre-diabetic and has CFS, chronic IBS and flares of fibromyalgia. We both were put on metformin, strict diet and exercise to help control our blood sugars and thyroid medication because we also have high normal TSH. We are both feeling much better and will feel like ourselves after a few months of treatment. Look into it because fibro could be caused by both of these conditions.

Avatar f tn You could have Fibromyalgia or an Under active thyroid (Hypothyroidism) have a look on the Internet and you will find most of your symptoms are listed in both of these medical issues. I suffer from both and there is medication and treatment. An Underactive Thyroid can be tested for in a blood test and you can get a hormone replacement and you are usually on it for life. In the UK this prescription is free.

The treatment options are: Medications: • Analgesics : Acetaminophen, tramadol, NSAIDS etc • Antidepressants • Muscle relaxants. • Pregabalin Non Medication options: • Behavior therapy • Reduction of stress • Regular exercise • Healthy diet. You should consult your doctor about the medication and non medication options that are available for you.
4856774 tn?1360095016 Any injury can worsen fibromyalgia, so yes, a car crash can be a real set back if you have fibromyalgia. However, aches and pains can also be the direct result of an injury from car crash. So, depending on your symptoms this aspect should be investigated. If your symptoms are due to worsening of fibromyalgia only, then the treatment is a mix and match of analgesics, anti depressants, anti seizure medications, physical therapy and counseling. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

Avatar f tn I was recently told by someone that works with fibromyalgia patients that a gluten free diet could lessen my symptoms. Just trying to figure out what has or not has gluten has been confusing and a bit discouraging. But I am willing to try it if it works. Has anyone tried it? What were your results?
Avatar m tn It was my personal experience that immense inflammatory processes started in my body 90-days post cessation of treatment with INF / RVN. Anecdotal evidence on this forum confirms my experience. Anecdotal evidence on this forum suggests about a 60-day post-cessation of treatment onset of similar symptoms with the newer drugs. In any event, I came across the article below re: brain inflammation and its symptoms. https://www.dropbox.
1522259 tn?1291211339 He told me that he would only believe I had fibromyalgia when I showed that I have changed my diet by eliminating things like caffeine, sugar, processed food, drink lots and lots of water, etc., started light exercising, sleep and eat on a regular schedule, and all that fun stuff. I explained to him that I already eat very healthy, drink nothing but water, but I smoke somewhat and exercising is nearly impossible with my pain (but I would start trying to do it and work through the pain).
