Avatar f tn There have been increased incidences of fibromyalgia among people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Having rheumatoid arthritis can be considered as a risk factor for fibromyalgia. A lack of vitamin D is associated with higher risk of rheumatoid arthritis. A correct intake of vitamin D, along with calcium is very important in protecting the health of our bones. Low vitamin D may lead to early progression of the disease. You need to see a specialist.

517902 tn?1314715429 Has anyone mentioned Fibromyalgia or Rheumatoid Arthritis to you? I'm going through a similar thing at the moment and my Dr reckons it could be either of these. Get checked for arthritis anyway, it's not possible to diagnose fibromyalgia by a blood test but the rheumatoid arthritis will show as far as I know. I'm getting bloods taken this week just to start an elimination process if nothing else. Sick to death of the pain and for no reason apparantely! Good luck....
1550149 tn?1340000730 Can you have Psoriatic arthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis? Doctors official diagnosis~ I have Psoriatic arthritis. Tested positive anti-CCP test as well though...
Avatar f tn If you search Amazon I know there are a couple of books on this. The studies were done in Italy, I believe, and were mostly applicable to rheumatoid arthritis, but it's long been felt in many schools of traditional medicine that nightshades promote inflammation. If I recall, they found about 10% of people responded incredibly well to removing nightshades from their diet as to relief from arthritis in the study.
Avatar f tn These blood tests are nonspecific. Rheumatoid arthritis and Fibromyalgia are both possibilities but really, you are going to have to wait and see what the rheumatologist has to say.

Avatar n tn Do you have any other issues like osteo arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus? Fibromyalgia? Women with these issues do report they have joint pain during their cycle. I've also read that having 'too much' inflammation can lead to join pain during your period. Do you respond at all to an NSaid? (ibuprofen is an example but here are many otc nsaids).
Avatar n tn Apart from fibromyalgia multiple joint pain is seen in hypothyroidism, low Vitamin D levels, Low Vit B12 levels, anemia, Hashimotos thyroiditis, gout (can sometimes cause multiple joint pain), rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, SLE, electrolyte disturbance particularly those involving calcium and magnesium, parathyroid gland problems, chondrocalcinosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn Yes arthritis runs in families.my father had rheumatoid arthritis thankfully none of his children or grandchildren have shown any signs. My grandmother had severe osteoarthritis so I'm assuming I got her genes. I am 58 and I have been fighting arthritis since my early 20's. I just had an implant to replace my big toe joint 10 days ago because arthritis ate it up.get Checked out by a good Dr and have some tests run to find out what you really have.
Avatar f tn I strongly suspect I have either arthritis, or osteo-arthritis, or fibromyalgia, does working under "cold" conditions like refrigeration affect what I have mentioned in my questions?
Avatar f tn I have severe fibromyalgia and arthritis since it has gotten so bad my Dr did bloodwork and I have a positive ana. She did another blood that measures sedement times, don't have the name of the test. But it tested negative results for lupus. And my bloodwork shows negative results for rheumatoid arthritis. Can I still have lupus?
Avatar f tn Unexplained aches and pains with rashes coming on and off could be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, hypothyroidism, liver disorders, Vit B12 or Vit D deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. Since there was ankle swelling Crohn’s and rheumatoid arthritis should be ruled out first. This needs a comprehensive investigation. Consult a doctor please. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis since 2007. First the blood work showed RA factor 83. And last year the number were 95. I went to rheumatologist last year. After examining he said even the numbers are high i don't have any pain or swelling he cant give any medicine. Since i am not taking anything. And i don't have any pain or swelling. But i am worrying about the numbers. If anybody have any suggesstions, would be highly appreciated.
Avatar n tn This could indicate a number of different things including rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc.
Avatar n tn My father was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after WWII. He developed it shortly after being shipped back from England in a coma with a very high temperature. He had the usual symptoms of RA but it was not symetrical. It affected different joints on either side of the body. He died in 1965. About a year before he died, he developed unusual symptoms- loss of taste, areas of de-pigmentation etc.

183933 tn?1290216962 It is possible that your mother could have Rheumatoid Arthritis as well or something else. If I were you I would convince her to be seen by a Rheumatologist and have them do a full diagnostic panel of test on her. That way if there if there is something more going on they can treat her for it, or if it is Fibromyalgia they can diagnose it and treat her for that. Keep us posted and if you have more questions feel free to ask!
1187243 tn?1268397011 what are the symptoms of fibromyalgia? how long do you have it? what medicines are used to treat it?
Avatar n tn The doctor I had been seeing always reffered to my problem as rheumatoid disease but never used the word arthritis. I have sinced moved and I am seeing a new doctor, she says I do not have rheumatoid arthritis and when i pointed out my previous doctor never called it arthritis she dismissed the difference. She said her Dx was based on the fact that basically my hands are not a twisted wreck.
