fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn I am a 22 year old female and after doing a bit of research it sounds as though I have several symptoms that occur under fibromyalgia. I have had throughout my entire life a bizarre amount of muscle problems and pain. In recent times (last 5-6 months) I have had occasions where my body and skin hurts so much that even my shirt is hurting it. This isn't an everyday, or even every week, event but it has happened probably 5 or 6 time.

Monster The descriptions of fibromyalgia symptoms read to me like a newspaper horoscope: the number of symptoms described can apply to just about any ambulatory human being. The typical medications indicated seem to antidepressants and pain relievers. Please give us the Clif's Notes version of fibromyalgia and if diagnosed, what are the treatments.
415098 tn?1214856836 They now know that people with fibromyalgia have pain to the touch in specific spots on their body... this aides in diagnosis. Your doctor can identify if you have problems in enough of these areas to warrant a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, especially since you've already had the CT's, etc. Google the words "Fibromyalgia and tender points" and you should find a few web sites that talk about this in more detail. God Bless!

Avatar f tn A cervical spine problems causes symptoms from the level of the problem down. The symptoms don't travel up so if you have tingling in your face and on your head it is something else. A spine issue can cause headaches though as the muscles can spasm in the neck and cause a headache. You may want to get tested for Lyme disease. It can cause most of your symptoms.
Avatar n tn does anyone know how long can secondary fibro last, my rheumy says that my cervical fusion in march of this year has caused all my pain and fatigue due to it being the cause of this secondary fibro. I did have a positive ana but the rheumy says he does not read much into ana tests.
Avatar n tn I have had a problem for years with swelling feet, ankles, & hands & wrists. I asked the doc that I was seeing at the time & she just shrugged. The doc's figured I have been suffering for the past 24 years with FM but was always misdiagnosed until Jan. of this year. I find if I stand for any length of time, sit for any length or walk to much I seem to swell. I am in a very hot & humid part of Canada. I think it is part of the FM as there is no other explaination by the docs.

Avatar m tn After the endoscopy we were given the diagnosis of chronic fatigue / fibromyalgia . Having been initially relieved that we finally had a diagnosis we are now starting to think differently. Once you have been tarred with this brush it would appear the doctors are not interested. My concern is how quickly this diagnosis has been made. I've read people can wait years before getting this confirmed as tests for all other conditions are looked into.
Avatar f tn At this time, there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia - one main reason being is they have not determined exactly what causes fibromyalgia. There are many thoughts and ideas on it, however, nothing has been scientifically proven/discovered. There also are no specific blood tests, scans, etc., for diagnosing fibromyalgia = there ARE certain critieria that need to be met before a true fibro diagnosis.
1184051 tn?1264435308 /or RA and when I told him my symptoms he said they were all due to fibromyalgia. It really made me mad that he wouldn't take them seriously and didn't even want to treat me for fibro. I'm going to press my family doctor to start a treatment regimen.
710094 tn?1229308706 First of all believe in the power of your mind to heal your body . I recommend the book "The magic of believing" , tell yourself that you are getting better . Your cognitive difficulty is known as fibrofog or brainfog . Less blood could be flowing to your brain and/or it is overwhelmed by pain signals . Take omega 3 fish and flax oils and gingko biloba along with good b vitamins / multivitamins . Brain fog is common in chronic pain conditions .
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia. I believe it comes on slowly. So slowly that you don't even know you have it until all of a sudden you have all kinds of symptoms all at once. Have you had any other type of ongoing problems? Something that perhaps you never gave a second thought to and now it has all compounded? Yours doesn't really sound like fibro to me. Go on line and look up the symptoms for fibro. There are lots of good sites out there.
