Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain ultram

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I have been on ultram 8 tabs a day for 9 years. We want to start a family. I went on the meds for the treatment of fibromyalgia. How do I start? What should I expect? Should I go to detox? Just not sure what to do. I don't have any other addictions or meds to get off of. This is my last challenge.
Avatar f tn I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was told I needed to see a Rhumetologist and let him diagnose me. The rhumetologist told me I have hepatitus. Can a person with hep have pain in the winter and numbness in fingers?
Avatar f tn He set me up on a slow weening schedule and since I was worried about my fibromyalgia pain coming back, he put me on Lyrica. I know nothing about this med. Does anyone have any info? The dr. did tell me it was not addictive because that was the first thing I asked him!!! I got online to read the side effects of lyrica and it said you can not suddenly stop taking it or you will experience w/d!!! That sounds addicting to me?? Any info y'all might have sure would be helpful!
177382 tn?1253041140 So far I have not had to take a single Ultram for pain in two weeks. That is a first (in about 12 yrs!). I am not pain free at all but I am certainly a great deal better. I suffer with leg pains and burning feet at night. I took the 500 mg of Magnesium on night instead of the Ultram, slept like a baby and woke up feeling great. My leg pains have calmed way down! and No head fog or stomach upset.
684012 tn?1227990456 I have been seeing this neruro dr for about 5 months now she did diagnoise me with fibromyalgia, cfs, & neuropathy. We are trying to find ways to control the pain. When I take the Ultram, it makes my face break out with little bumps on my checks. Has this happenned to anyone else? My current meds are really not working, I have to go between Ultram & Vicodin, and Skelaxin for a muscle relaxer. I use Lyrica but is causes my ankles and hands to swell.
Avatar f tn He must have assessed that your depression is serious and a source of your pain besides the Fibromyalgia. This is very valid in many cases. Our brain chemistry affects our opiod receptors and how we assess pain. Also how we think about the pain. Vicodin works on my Fibro pain but the Tylenol is not necessary for FM being we don't have inflammation as a rule. Zydone is Vicodin with less acetominophen (tylenol). Hope I have helped.
Avatar f tn t eat, sleep, or function because of the pain. I have read several posts from women who have taken pain meds during pregnancy, has anyone had a baby and took tramadol during pregnancy or vicodin? I know neurontin has shown to have negative effects on the fetus but tramadol and vicodin have not but they haven't been proven safe either. I took vicodin for year before I was diagnosed and was then switched to tramadol for long term use.
Avatar n tn I have Fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain. I am on Duragesic pain patch, Ultram, Lortab 10 mg, and Lyrica 200mg. I noticed weight gain and swelling in my legs and feet with Lyrica and wanted to know if Topamax could replace Lyrica.
Avatar n tn I have difficulty with slow digestion due to medication (lyrica and ultram). My Gasterentologist prescribed Reglan 10mg Tid and Miralax Bid as needed. I don't seem to have strong enough peristalsis to create elemination. I must strain and push a lot to eliminate what I can but it is thin and ribbon like. Please help with some help or ideas other than give up your fibromyalgia meds. I swear I wouldn't want to go back to that kind of pain again! Can you help?
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain from fibromyalgia and I have been taking ultram for it ... well I have been taking it so long I got addicted anyways I ran out and cant get it filled for a few days yet and I'm in the process of moving.. Ugh.. having WD symptoms while packing and moving boxes is a nightmare!
Avatar f tn I was recently perscribed Cymbalta, thought I've not yet taken it for the same reason as you.. side effects. I'm a long-time sufferer of panic attacks and I'm always afraid of feeling "weird" or "out of it" from taking a new med. I'm going to try it tomorrow though, since I'm in so much pain with my Fibromyalgia that I'll just take the panic attacks at this point. Hopefully it will be a good experience. I'll let you know.
Avatar m tn Labs were normal. I was told not to worry. No one can ID the source of my pain / aches / symptoms. I've been told I have reiter's syndrom, CFS due to EBV and Fibromyalgia. All I know is I'm in pain and plain to go on heavy duty drugs reverse the disease / help w/ my pain. Thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have severe pain on the joint of middle finger and slight swelling on the back of hand. Also neck, entire body pain mostly early morning.
Avatar f tn There are anti-seizure drugs that are also good nerve medicines, they are not combined with Tylenol, and they are given to people who have fibromyalgia-like pain, for example. Among those nerve drugs are Neurontin or Lyrica, Topamax, Tegretol, and Dilantin.
Avatar m tn Panic attacks are actually more likely to occur if you abruptly stop taking Ultram. There is a risk of seizures while taking Ultram, however, especially while on the extended release version. If your wife has been on this medication at this dose for 4 years though, I would not expect seizures to start up at this point.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 25 years old and it is almost crippling for me. Right now I am on Ultram and zoloft. My dr wants me to go see a rheumatologist. I am so upset about the diagnosis because I am so young. I have little kids that I want to chase around at the park and play with but it is a struggle just to get out of bed.
Avatar f tn I have been seeing a neurologist since October of last year. So far, he has diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia, Peripheral Neuropathy, Mild spinal stenosis, and idiopathic chronic pain syndrome. Every medication we have tried starts out helping and within weeks stops working. He says I am building up "tolerances" to the meds really fast and he cannot explain it. I am so very tired of the pain, numbness, burning, cramping, et al. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Is anyone using Ultram for pain? I keep reading about it. I basically live on Darvocet (Lortab) and want to know if anyone has had relief from Ultram.
558096 tn?1255887002 So, my primary care Dr knows I am on sub. I have a really bad UTI, and she said it would be ok for me to take Ultram, while On suboxone, b/c it's non-opiate............but I wanted to make absolutely sure first. So, is it ok to take Ultram while on Sub?
698232 tn?1229596461 I know how difficult it must be to struggle with the pain killers after having a parent go through such a horrible experience. Ultram, when taken as prescribed, will help your pain. Most people who have to use pain medications will not abuse them. We don't get the 'pleasure principal' from them, taking only what is necessary to cope. Those in chronic pain are the least likely to abuse pain medications.
Avatar n tn This is why it not only works on pain, but also has an antidepressive effect. Ultram usually does not work for severe pain;therefore, there is a tendency to self increase the dose which is not only dangerous because of the addictive qualities of the drug, but also it lowers the seizure threshold. So, yes ultram is addictive and easily abused and at higher than recommended doses can cause unwanted seizures. By the way, what kind of pain are you using ultram for?
Avatar f tn Since July of this year I have been experiencing intense pain. It started in my hands and feet, spread to my other joints, and now it's just pain all over my body. I found out I have a Vitamin D deficiency and have been taking whopping doses of it every day that my dr prescribed. My rheumatologist tested me for autoimmune diseases because my mother has one and I had other symptoms that made him go that route (Raynaud's, photosensitivity, and hair loss).
Avatar n tn s a big question and too much for me to answer on here. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 4 years ago. You may want to check out one of my fav. Fibro sites www.immunesupport.com . They have tons of info on FM as well as chronic fatigue and the like. The site has symptom lists as well as current research, treatments, etc. and may offer you a starting off point.
176495 tn?1301280412 So, I went to the doctor yesterday due to my recurrent back pain (which got me on vicodin to begin with you may or may not recall)..I'd gone to the ER 2 weeks ago and they gave me ultram and skelaksan (sp?)..which helped some, but yesterday turned out to be a particularly painful day to where I was feeling pain down my right leg and across my lower back..
517902 tn?1314715429 They dont believe me that Im in chronic pain and I cannot perform daily duties aroudn the house. Ive tried Ultram, Darvocet, Fiorect (have chronic painful headaches) Flexeril, Skelaxin and tons of other non-narcotics but never given anything stronger. Anyway, my neck pain is killing me. Its the worse pain out of everything I have. I dont know what to do.
1349329 tn?1276985202 re anti-seizure meds but also used for fibromyalgia and for nerve pain. I did find they helped the fibromyalgia and my nerve pain. But I found the side effects to difficult. Neurontin made me feel out of it. Not high. It caused me to have trouble processing things. Having a conversation was impossible. Lyrica was a bit better. I had some of the same side effects, though to a much lesser degree, but I gained 15 pounds in 2 weeks. (Came right off when I got off it.
