Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain touch

fibromyalgia

At my last doctors appointment this month, I finally cornered my doctor about a diagnosis. Do I have fibromyalgia or not? She told me I may have a touch. A touch? How do you get a touch? Does anyone know what that means? Thank You...

He is on meds' for his back issues' oxy's and endocet however this doesn't seem to touch the pain area in his joints other than his back. He has had severe weight gain, tingling in fingers', hands etc. Often complains of headache. The pain killers' hes' on just dont' work on all of these points I have listed. He could sleep 24/7 if you let him. He will sit at the pc and fall asleep. Could it be that some nerve is again relevant to his pain or are these actual signs' of fibromyalgia.
They now know that people with fibromyalgia have pain to the touch in specific spots on their body... this aides in diagnosis. Your doctor can identify if you have problems in enough of these areas to warrant a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, especially since you've already had the CT's, etc. Google the words "Fibromyalgia and tender points" and you should find a few web sites that talk about this in more detail. God Bless!

Blood was checked by rheumatologist for everything he could think of and nothing showed. The pain/discomfort went on for about 5 months , may -september. I never had pain elsewhere and was not very tired. From october to end of february, I have felt fine. I'd say my energy levels havent always been great for as long as I remember but I can still run 5 or 6 mile runs almost 3 times per week. I am most concerned about fibromyalgia at this point.
I can barely move and in so much burning pain in the morning.
I like you had all the tests, MRIs never showed the excruiating shoulder blade pain I was living with or the bone crushing lower back pain, i have the gamut of symptoms sciatic pain, the joint stiffness, the lack of sleep, skin sensitivity, headaches, leg weakness. Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.
I have been having chest pain for quite some time now. For the past 2 weeks it comes & goes. It is worse sometimes (it varies from day to day) when I eat, when I exercise, when I get too stressed, when I get hot & when I lie down. It is like a sharp nagging pain in the middle of my rib cage sometimes lasting more than a few minutes. I have always also had problems with shortness of breath & dizziness. I am also tired all the time.
this leads to Fibromyalgia, but not in all the cases, of course. It is also noted that those who complain of more pain after the surgery, have more chance of developing fibromyalgia. One more reason thought to be implicated in post surgery fibromyalgia is ..... the neck is hyper-extended while doing the intubation and this constitutes a neck injury! Hope that helps.
The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.

Hi! Dr. I was never told what category Fibromyalgi falls into. Would his be considered an "auto-immune" dis-ease? I was told that Fibromyalgia does not progress. If this is true, then why can I no longer do the job that I used to do, nor can I do household chores, easily? I used to be able to when I was diagnosed in 1996, even last summer. (not easily, but I did it) Now, I deal with pain that never goes away, fatigue beyond comprehension, and flu-like symptoms on a constant basis?
I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched. I've tried everything- countless medications, light exercise when I'm not bed ridden, smoking pot, change in my diet, hell I even allowed someone who was convinced I had demons to perform and exorcism. The point is I am open to anything- just preferably something not too expensive as I am out of work.
I have tender points ALL over my body. My Dr says it's not Fibromyalgia. The spots don't hurt unless they're pressed on, then they feel like bruises (but nothing is there) My tinder points don't match the Fibromyalgia points, and I have about10 times the number of spots that are on the picture. Also from knees down almost ALL of the muscles hurt to touch, not just spots) There's no rash or fever that I'm aware of. This has been going on for years. Any thoughts????
My tender points are always tender to the touch and i always have a certain degree of pain somewhere, luckily not usually so bad to stop me doing things. I have spoke to people who sometimes their tender points aren't always tender.
I have been reading over the testimonials that are posted on this web-site and in some ways it made me feel a little better, did not take away the pain, but maybe emotionally. Like many of you I have been through numerous tests, some painful, which usually always come back normal. I have seen my Primary Care Physician, Chiropractor, Neurologist, Rhuemetologist, Neuro Surgeon and I am still in trememdous pain. I find it difficult to get out of bed in the mornings.
Do you experience weight gain , fatigue, itchiness (already established), muscle cramping, joint pain? Have you ever been tested for Hypothyroid? (also linked often to iron deficiencies.) Have you been having G/I and digestive issues? All of the above may be interconnected, but with the limited information I have and without a clinical examination, this would be my best guess. Here is the FMS-Itchiness connection from my perspective.
Although fibromyalgia usually presents with chronic widespread pain, pain may also be localized in areas such as the shoulders, neck, low back, hips, or other areas. The cause of fibromyalgia is often hereditary or due to a physical or emotional trauma or due to lingering infection in the body such as due to mono. The treatment is a mix and match of analgesics, anti depressants, anti seizure medications, physical therapy and counseling.
Also, at times fibromyalgia starts with increased sensitivity to touch, and there is no body pain. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
I'm not sure I'm in the right section or not, I didn't see one for "Pain" alone. Last week my left leg began to feel "restless" and the thigh area was painful to the touch, almost like I had a sunburn. It got worse as the day went on and by the next morning the painful-ness moved down around the knee joint area. It didn't feel muscular, it was more like when I touched it or something put pressure on the skin that it hurt. It was gone by the next day.
mild OCD Mulitple food allergies fatigue trouble concentrating fibromyalgia Any input about the hyper sensitive touch would be appreciated.
Hi, I'm a fifteen year old (I turn sixteen in a few months) girl and lately I've been feeling a sort of bruised pain when I touch the middle of my chest or sometimes it is towards the left or the right. It differs almost every time and the area feels sort of firm. However, I don't feel a lump or anything like that. This hasn't affected me in terms of my activities but I keep touching the areas that hurt and it really does worry me almost all the time.
I recently have been having chronic pain on my mid spinal area. it hurts with movement and when I touch it. Just curios on what could cause this. How can I treat it?
Both fibromyalgia and CFS share many of the same symptoms. However, pain is major symptom with fibro patients' and fatigue in CFS patients'. I think you should have numerous labwork done on you. Your physician should be familiar with diagnosing and treating CFS and also rule out autoimmune diseases first. It does sound like you very well could have CFS. There isn't a standard treatment for CFS, but you do have some options. Keep in touch...
The skin on my arms, abdomen, and especially upper legs feel bruised to touch. Pain is not severe. It does not burn or sting and there is no rash or bruise anywhere. But skin is definitely sore when you even lightly rub over it. Have not found any answers or ideas to what could cause it. Has started in the last week and it comes and goes.
