Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain syndrome

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Hi I have the same pain and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I also think I have myofascial pain as I have read that they can go hand in hand. It would be worth looking up fibromyalgia to see if it matches what you feel. They are not life threatening but very painful and life changing for some. Pain killers don't work for me and I have taken so many in the past that I am sensitive to some. If its fibro rest and relaxation can help.

Avatar f tn More over i found a higher connection of my pain problem with fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome (which i guess is a part of chronic fatigue syndrome, if i m not wrong)... I also tried to find treatments for these problems and found tht, my pains hv no origin and thy start anytime and go away anytime without any sensible explanation...so i thought may b cognitive behaviour therapy, graded exercise therapy or therapy for nociceptive system might help...

Avatar n tn When I had insomnia I ended up with a lot of issues such as Restless leg syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue syndrome and Chronic Pain syndrome. I really feel that this was brought on by stress, anxiety and lack of sleep combined with major hormonal issues.
Avatar n tn Hi Ricky, There is a condition called myofascial pain syndrome. Simply put it is muscle pain. A rheumatologist can help with this diagnosis. I would begin there. HIV is extremely difficult to contract. The rates are very low. Obviously it is not impossible but you should try to relax. Stress and worry can cause all kinds of physical symptoms. Our mind can play tricks with out body. They are so connected. Good luck to you. Make that appt and ease your mind. Best of luck to you.

Avatar f tn The main pain is the back pain. From what I have read myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) and fibromyalgia are two different things but similar. The MPS is usually on one side of the body while fibro is all over the body and is on both sides. It usually hurts to touch the skin or you can have lots of different symptoms. Fatigue is common in both but anytime you have pain, you get tired and can be depressed. The main thing that is working for is to walk.

Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias. Although the intensity of your symptoms may vary, they'll probably never disappear completely. It may be reassuring to know, however, that fibromyalgia isn't progressive or life-threatening. Treatments and self-care steps can improve fibromyalgia symptoms and your general health.
4295054 tn?1352695387 Is Chronic Pain Syndrome something that can develop from long-term use of opiate pain killers?
Avatar f tn Hyperflexibility of joints may be the first sign of chronic fatigue syndrome which also could be the cause of sudden painful jolts (like bulgingnveins with pain). Fibromyalgia too needs to be looked into. Hyperflexible joints are also seen in collagen tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or Marfan syndrome Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!

Avatar n tn I have had fibromyalgia for 10 years. This past August of 06 I filed for short term disabilty, then when to long term disabilty. For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. 1023657 tn?1251844941 One of them is exercise. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.

1426717 tn?1282875265 Other symptoms include needle-like tingling of the skin, nerve pain, muscle aches and spasms, weakness in the limbs, functional bowel disturbances, and chronic sleep disturbances. Although fibromyalgia usually presents with chronic widespread pain, pain may also be localized in areas such as the shoulders, neck, low back, hips, or other areas. The cause of fibromyalgia is often hereditary or due to a physical or emotional trauma or due to lingering infection in the body such as due to mono.
