fibromyalgia

Avatar m tn I started having pain in my rib cage under the front. I am in pain and sore often. I went to the health food store & the herbalist told me to try turmeric to reduce inflammation, improve liver and heart health. I took the first pill last night and I already feel better. What should I do? I have gone to the doctor and had EKG's, chest X-Ray's, bloodwork, and the doctors cannot find anything. What can I do?
937868 tn?1570328281 Integrative physicians have observed that patients with fibromyalgia often have symptoms—such as widespread pain, migraine, poor sleep, and gastrointestinal complaints—that are similar to people who have hormonal deficiencies. Also, hormonal testing often reveals that women who have fibromyalgia have low levels of crucial hormones. It is important when considering bioidentical hormonal replacement therapy to seek the advice of a qualified physician and to have your blood tested.
Avatar f tn Finally ! I am so happy to see that the Mayo Clinic and American College of Rheumatology lists complementary medicine as other therapies that may benefit fibromyalgia. I know "alternative" medicine (AKA: pre-western medicine) has been a blessing for me. I work not only with my specialist, but also with an alternative medicine practitioner as well and thank God for both of these compassionate, educated men.

Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder that is characterized by diffuse musculoskeletal pain and sensitivity to mechanical stimulation. In this pilot clinical trial, we tested the effectiveness of low-dose naltrexone in treating the symptoms of fibromyalgia. DESIGN: Participants completed a single-blind, crossover trial with the following time line: baseline (2 weeks), placebo (2 weeks), drug (8 weeks), and washout (2 weeks).
Avatar f tn Anyway the point is Doctors should screen their patients for additive behavor and if everything is okay, they should not give into the stigma of methadone as an addiction medicine and not a pain treatment medicine. Humans have the right to use what modern medicine has to offer to have a better quality of life. Life is too short to go through it in pain that is unnessary.
Avatar f tn I take Opana ER which is an extended release pain med and I take percocet for breakthru pain. I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, Trazadone and Flexeril at night to help with sleep and muscle spasms, and I am on Zoloft and bloodpressure meds. I went a long time with no pain meds then to Tramadol then to Lortab, etc.... I have very high pain levels on a daily basis plus I have a high tolerance to meds so the weaker ones never worked well for me.

378725 tn?1200684802 My mother and grandmother had these same problems, which doctors can only prescribe pain medicine. It would seem that doctors would test the parathyroid glands, blood, and urine to see if Hydroxyapatite deposition disease was contributing to there are problems. Doctors only look to simple, easy solutions, such as cancer as the culprit.
Avatar m tn Fibromyalgia would be more muscular pain. Look up diagnosing Fibromyalgia- there is 18 specific tender points which are painful in ppl with it and other criteria needed to be diagnosed as Fibro. Does she have inflammation at the joints and increase pain with activity? This might suggest arthritis. I would suggest to keep seeing her doctor and following through with tests. This may take time bc they have to rule things out.
