Fibromyalgia pain during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain during pregnancy

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I have severe fibromyalgia and buergers disease among other things and am in severe pain constatntly. My doctors wanted to prescribe me oxys but i refused. My OB knows i take them and says its ok because teh pain prevents me from taking care of my other children who are only 2 and 3 but i dont think i should. i would rather be in the most pain possible than have something wrong with my baby. So whenever i talk to her about stopping them she doesnt agree.
Avatar f tn Yes, I had it while I was pregnant, both times. I've heard it said that the pain eases up during pregnancy, and while I waited breathlessly for it, it never quite happened. In fact, the pain was worse, as was the fatigue, but I was so scared of the meds I took as little as possible. If you don't have access to a warm pool, find one. That was the only time I had any relief, when i was laying in the warm water.
1033336 tn?1252506131 My baby doctor told me to not worry about the arthritis and pain from my child bearing hips they said take tylenol and the pain would go away well it did not I found myself lying in bed every day all during my pregnancy because of pain everywhere. I stopped working my excuse was to raise my family but really its because of the constant fatigue and also having two small children.
Avatar f tn I came off like a dozen meds to have a safe pregnancy. My fibromyalgia is better then pre pregnancy but not 100 percent gone. All I have taken for pain is Tylenol. Some days r better then others. In the end its all worth it.
Avatar f tn Hi I had a baby 8 years ago, I had Fm before I became pregnant, but made a decision to have a baby anyway. I found that during pregnancy my symptoms seemed to improve slightly. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy 11 days after my due date. I had a few false alarms during my pregnancy where I thought I was in labour, but was not, but this was in part due to my experience with my first pregnancy 14 years previously. I had a really quick labour and recovered quite quickly.
Avatar f tn I hear that some women with fibromyalgia go into remission while pregnant. May have something to do with the increase in hormones, particularly progesterone. Progesterone has a calming effect on the body and is good for pain relief. Some people are even using natural progesterone cream for fibromyalgia treatment. I don't now how far along you are in your pregnancy, but maybe the pain will get better.
Avatar f tn It may be a good thing to talk to tour Dr about weaning off for delivery, also, if you want pain control during delivery, being dependant on pain meds like taking them regular, some if the iv psince meds will put you in instant withdrawal instead of helping.
Avatar f tn I take low-dose xanax twice daily for pain (I have fibromyalgia and weirdly it is the only thing that helps). When I found out I was pregnant I had the same question as you. Although my psychiatrist has seen women take low doses during pregnancy and have perfectly healthy children, the two Ob's I spoke with were adament that I get off xanax immediately. I did quite a bit of research and found that xanax can be linked with fetal malformations and withdrawals if taken in the third trimester.
Avatar f tn Hi... over the past few years I have had severe endometriosis therefore had the key hole surgery to remove lesions and if honest pain has still been fairly bad years after the op. I wasn't sure if I could convince yet horray I am now 7 weeks pregnant! My endo pain is severe again abdominal, , pelvic and feel like that hot poker is back between my legs again im in agony. Ive been prescribed codeine and paracetamol but doesn't help. Does anyone else have similar pain during pregnancy?
Avatar n tn Hi I am a 26 year old guy who has had on/off back pain since last May. I have been to many doctors, chiropractor, physiatrist, orthopedist. rheumatologist. Ive had mri's, xrays on back and nothing shows up. Blood was checked by rheumatologist for everything he could think of and nothing showed. The pain/discomfort went on for about 5 months , may -september. I never had pain elsewhere and was not very tired. From october to end of february, I have felt fine.
Avatar f tn I'm right with you.
1075060 tn?1255644162 You need to speak to your doctor, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is alright to take vicoden during pregnancy as long as your monitored by a doctor. basically the meds you take, the benefits need to outweigh the risks. You shouldn't just drop off your meds however, because that can cause withdrawal, and even stress your body to the point that you miscarry. Call your doctor right away and ask for a referral to a high risk maternal fetal medicine specialist.
Avatar f tn t really sound much like fibromyalgia pain - that pain is typically widespread and not just in one area (although certain areas can feel worse at times than other areas). It also usually affects both sides of the body pretty equally. It sounds more like maybe a shoulder injury (have you fallen or stretched your shoulder at all? heavy lifting?) I could also be a pleuritic type pain (inflammation of the area around the lungs).
Avatar f tn At age 15 i was diagnosed with kidney reflux, age 17 I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel, myofacial pain syndrome, & fibromyalgia. Then age 21 back spasms. Ladies I'm in constant pain, my limb swell on a daily basis and most days I can't even walk. Do any of you all deal with chronic illnesses? All mine have flared this pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Ok so I really hadent planned on having more children not only did I feel satisfied with the 2 I have but I have several back conditions I have 4 buldging discs 1 of which sits on my sciatic nerve.
630344 tn?1280104983 If so does it get better or do you stay in pain for the majority of the pregnancy, I am having headaches that pretty much do not ever go away and my muscles never relax and I was given the ok to take Vicodin for the headaches occasionally, but I do not want to take Vicodin on a daily basis and I need some type of relief. I was getting some relief in the sauna, but I am obviously unable to do this any longer. I cannot take it on a daily basis and I need some type of relief.
Avatar f tn I take Opana ER which is an extended release pain med and I take percocet for breakthru pain. I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, Trazadone and Flexeril at night to help with sleep and muscle spasms, and I am on Zoloft and bloodpressure meds. I went a long time with no pain meds then to Tramadol then to Lortab, etc.... I have very high pain levels on a daily basis plus I have a high tolerance to meds so the weaker ones never worked well for me.
Avatar f tn I had that pain off and on. I had called the Dr and since I wasn't bleeding and my pain was almost like period cramps I was told to keep drinking lots of water stay off my feet on bed rest and take a full dose of Tylenol.
Avatar f tn Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum, Being pregnant and managing Chronic Pain is difficult..... but not impossible. Obviously not all opiates are appropriate during this time. Our archives contain multiple threads on this very subject. You don't say in which state in which you reside which does make a difference. Has your pain been managed by a PMP until this time?
Avatar n tn I feel for you. I have fibromyalgia as well, though only one really bad flare-up in the last few years (though it was a very long flare.) I didn't get it until after my last pregnancy and can't imagine dealing with it while pregnant. There is a member here who was on medication with her last pregnancy. Hopefully she'll see your post and respond. Her issue isn't fibromyalgia, but I'm sure she might have some suggestions. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn This medication is prescribed during pregnancy but it should be monitored.Honesty is the best policy because as long as they ob knows the baby wont be taken away. Also tapering off under a doctors supervision at the end of the pregnancy will help a ton so the baby isnt addicted and doesn't have withdrawl.Honesty with ur doctor is scary but it makes all the difference in the world.
Avatar n tn Or it could be that your muscles are just so tense during the day that they hurt when you finally relax them at night. It could also be a symptom of Fibromyalgia - but you didn't mention if you hurt anywhere else and if you hurt during the day. I would try a multivitamin/multimineral supplement to see if perhaps you are missing something in your diet. - Please let us know how you fare.
2024756 tn?1615353204 I am sure that having Fibromyalgia is stressing the Adrenals as well, imagine being in constant pain for 31 years (i am now 50) Now i am sure of it, my intense salt cravings really were right around the time the weight dropped off in the past, but it is not now, perhaps because this is the "Big" one...MENOPAUSE. What is a woman to do? Cant take Progesterone, it might imbalance it the other way, Estrogen Dominance? i have heard it all.
