Avatar n tn Also, it has been proven that men placing their wallets into their back pocket and sitting can cause pressure on the spine. Simple as that may sound, it does cause back pain...most men do not think about this as it's natural to carry it there. Another problem can be caused by walking or standing a lot during the day. Make sure you have a good set of comfortable shoes. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help.

I will say I never had a diagnosis of fibromyalgia because when the areas of pain were counted (back in the 1990s) the number wasn't high enough. So not fibromyalgia, but I had a lot of pain and all these years later, after treating my problems, the pain is gone.

I recently went off of my patch due to no insurance. (It's very expensive). I actually feel better. Pain is worse but I'm not as tired and sleepy. Avatar f tn It's weird you should post this. I went to the doctors in February with horrible muscle pain in my legs and arms. He did a b-12 which i was low a few months back. Came in with arm pain and not feeling good. He also checked my thyroid and D levels. My thyroid was off a few months ago also but is fine now. But the D test came back low. In the mean time I couldn't take it and went to the rhemy whom I just saw in Janurary.
Avatar f tn Also, at times a muscle biopsy may be needed to diagnose. Treatment usually depends on the cause and pain killers are given if the pain is severe. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lyrica and Cymbalta for the fibromyalgia and that has helped my pain level somewhat. I also take Zanaflex (a muscle relaxer) to help with sleep, pain and the back tension. When was your last MRI? I would try to have a recent one to rule out future degeneration. I am in constant pain but when I experience a flare up of my fibromyalgia; it intensifies the pain ten fold. I wish you luck and in the absence of medication I would try to take ibuprofen. Good luck.

Avatar m tn said maybe it is a severe form of fibromyalgia, which people get when they have EBV, fibromyalgia is when you feel all your muscles are sore, your entire body is sore. I am currently taking Neurontin, and it is helping the pain a little. I think I will ask for Cymbalta instead, because it treats nerve pain, fibromyalgia and is also used as an anti-depressant, and then I wouldn't have to take too many other pills, just hopefully this one.

You need a good exam as well to define the areas of weakness, as that can often give clues as to the source of the problem.
