Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia neuropathy

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn What are your other symptoms? I have scalp burning sensations and other scalp pain. My doctor told me that it's idiopathic, which means basically for unknown reasons. It's related to my idiopathic neuropathy I have throughout my body. She said it's like a concentrated area of neuropathy. I have fibromyalgia, and this is a fairly common symptom of fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn I was previously diagnosed with fibromyalgia but then I had other symptoms that were not common for fibromyalgia. I went to a neurologist who tested my large nerves and did a muscle biopsy to check for muscular dystrophy and only found that I had a myositis condition but did not find any neuropathies.
613290 tn?1220851676 I have weight loss, loss of smell and taste, COPD, Hep.C, Peripheral Neuropathy, Hypothyroid, Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, MVP, HPV, Acid Reflux, Hyatel Hernia and other illnesses, too many to post. I just got a recent blood test result back and my T4 is elevated. Does anyone know if that could be causing any of the problems I'm having.
Avatar m tn it could also be fibromyalgia. how long have you felt like this?
520271 tn?1212009835 About 4 years ago I went to a fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue center. The doctor performed a lot of lab tests and told me I had acute Epstein Barr virus. I thought this was reasonable since I had mononucleosis in college. He gave me an IV which I later found out had hydrogen peroxide and DMSO (horse solvent) in it. He said it was to relax my back. I started burning all over and have not stopped since. I have had every neurological test. The burning started at the exact moment the IV was started.
Avatar m tn Very uncomfortable feeling, worse when I first wake up from sleep, but sometimes also all day long. Am I suffering from what is called fibromyalgia, does hepB cause this disease. I've already read that there are lots of other diseases that are caused by this terrible chronic illness.
329994 tn?1301663248 I have peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome with active Epstein Barr Virus. I take Gabapentin 300 mg 3x a day and I also have a heart condition (Prinzmetal's Angina) where I take Verapamil, Lasix, and Potassium. For the last week or so, my ankles and to a lesser extent my feet have been aching and tingling so bad. I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, it's about an 8 or 9. I cannot sleep at night.
Avatar f tn I have neuropathy but don't know if it is from my Fibromyalgia - didn't develop until 2 years after diagnosis. I even developed optic neuropathy (went half blind) and an Optic neurologist said it was vitamin deficiency since I'd had a long bout of vomiting after very strong IV antibiotics and possible systemic yeast/candidiasis. At any rate, I went on heavy vitamin therapy and it helped all the neuropathy though I still have a string of days with it due to I don't know what.
Avatar m tn I have had fibromyalgia for almost 20 years, i have learned to cope with the pain from it. However recently I have had chronic burning pain on the left side of my mid back, and it recently started burning in my upper stomach- but on the skin not in my stomach. I know I have neuropathy as well, and that went from zero to full pain in a few short months. I also have burning in my feet, toes legs. What I don't know is if fibromyalgia could cause this pain or if its the neuropathy.
Avatar n tn large fiber and small fiber. A small fiber neuropathy involves the small nerves which supply the skin and sweat glands in addition to other structures. The typical symptoms of a small fiber neuropathy are burning sensations, though several other abnormal sensory symptoms can occur. With a small fiber neuropathy, the EMG and nerve conduction studies are normal.
Avatar n tn I have neurology issues and recently been diagnosed with periphreal neuropathy and fibromyalgia. My question is the floaters in my left eye are getting worse. Not so much the black dots but the squigglies. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn My foot dr. says can be neuropathy/fibromyalgia/facitis (excuse spelling) where esp. sore, Prednisone (he would not give cortisone shot to me) did not help. Isn't neuropathy pain and burning when NOT on feet too? Do you know for sure? right now terrible cold- been off feet(so ok) (bronchities going around) for a week!!! I'm planning of splurging on either Trivolta products (advertised on TV; Christian shows, many products) OR have books on ($168 a mo.
1507079 tn?1291513583 Hi people, my question is to anyone who has thyroid problems and has ever been diagnosed with neuropathy. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid 5 yrs ago and off and on I would get treated for it, I say off and on because I'm uninsured and can't afford testing, medications, and Dr. visits, by the way I can't afford a specialist so I go to my family Dr. who treats me when I can afford to go.
Avatar f tn Been told by a neuro Dr that what made me think I had neuropathy she has never diagnosed me with it and neuropathy cannot come and go. My internal med Dr has had me on Lyrica for a year and it helps allot with the shooting burning stabbing pains at night. But sometimes it gets real bad.
Avatar f tn Two years ago I had severe sepsis caused from pneumonia. Is it a type of nerve problem? Neuropathy? An EMG showed a little neuropathy in my legs a few months after sepsis during a time when I couldn't walk. I can walk now. I had a "Sweet test" a year ago that confirmed a little nerve problem in my lower legs but with no pain. The pain in my feet is horrible and gradually increasing. What can be done? How is something like this treated? Can it be treated?
Avatar m tn After the endoscopy we were given the diagnosis of chronic fatigue / fibromyalgia . Having been initially relieved that we finally had a diagnosis we are now starting to think differently. Once you have been tarred with this brush it would appear the doctors are not interested. My concern is how quickly this diagnosis has been made. I've read people can wait years before getting this confirmed as tests for all other conditions are looked into.
Avatar f tn is there any way to manage trigeminal neuropathy (not neuralgia)? I regularly get 2-3 extreme episodes a month. There is constant pain in my entire head ,face and throat. When it flares up it lasts 3 days before I can actually talk or drink much.Cannot be effectively treated is the answer I have received from my pain specialist. Have gone off all narcotics, opiods, etc.
Avatar n tn I would seriously consider asking for another opinion and insisting that the doctors determine if pain is due to neuropathy or if not, what the actual cause is. Perhaps he should be seeing a neurologist?
Avatar f tn Successful surgery and chemo (7 rounds) with no spread of disease. Was hospitalized Christmas Day with severe neuropathy in legs and fever. Is being treated with Dulaudid, Toradol, Tylenol for fever and Ativan for anxiety. Has a history of depression, fibromyalgia and arthirits. Has become worse instead of better. They have isolated the bacteria (strep) and are treating with antibiotics. She has become unable to form a sentence and nothing seems to relieve her pain for more than an hour.
Avatar n tn ) and yet, because I do have proof of small fiber neuropathy through two skin biopsies as well as autonomic neuropathy through heart problems, body temperature irregularities, etc.they find it hard to prove or treat. Sure would like to hear more about what happens to get you a claw hand. You are the first person who I've had contact with about this so I am super excited to hear more.
Avatar f tn Have you ever been checked out for Lyme / Borreliosis? It can cause the same symptoms as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, neuropathy, and many other neurological, gastrointestinal, and other issues. In Europe, arthritis is less common than it is in the US. Here is a document that has a thorough list of symptoms seen in the US. http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf You can also do some research online to learn more about it.
1452760 tn?1285095278 In doing this, both NS feel the Chiari is not that bad and they do not feel that either is what is causing my problems. They believe I had Pheripheal Neuropathy and Fibromyalgia. I am scheduled for another MRI of the spine with contrast to review the cyst and also a EMG. Do not get me wrong-- I am happy if I do not have to have Brain Surgery. However, The past year has been horrific for me.
Avatar n tn I have Type II diabetes and have been told I have fibromyalgia. I get tingling and pain in my arms and legs and low back area and often a burning sensation. My low back and legs become so tender I can hardly stand for anyone to touch them. Is this really fibromyalgia or my diabetes? A couple of months ago I became ill with the flu and was down for nearly a week. My right arm and hand ached a lot. After a few days I noticed my index finger was numb.
Avatar f tn These sound like the initial symptoms of fibromyalgia. This is a common syndrome where one experiences long-term body pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, soft tissues. possible triggers for fibromyalgia includes physical or emotional trauma, an abnormal pain response, sleep disturbances with some of these clinical features like chronic neck or back pain, chronic fatigue syndrome and depression.
Avatar m tn I too suffer from the fibromyalgia as well as DDD, spondylithesis, neuropathy, etc. I have been on Lyrica and Cymbalta for the fibromyalgia and that has helped my pain level somewhat. I also take Zanaflex (a muscle relaxer) to help with sleep, pain and the back tension. When was your last MRI? I would try to have a recent one to rule out future degeneration. I am in constant pain but when I experience a flare up of my fibromyalgia; it intensifies the pain ten fold.
