Avatar m tn Doctor, last week you reponded to my question about medication regimen re herpes. My other questions are{ 1) How many days or weeks should a couple wait to have sex after the one party (female) commences medication for viral shedding suppression? 2) does the fact that that party has had herpes for 15 years affect how or when the medication should be taken or dosage etc.
Avatar n tn I'm glad you will be seeing the doctor Monday. I know how frustrating it can be to have pain and not get relief from it. I have tried every, and I mean every treatment and modality there is out there for my chronic headaches and chronic pain, and I still don't have any relief. It's part of my life. I'm trying a new acupuncturist, but even she thinks my "case" is complicated because my pain is so rampant all over my body, particularly my neck and lower back areas.
Avatar f tn Hi all- I am a 27 year old female suffering from a very severe case of fibromyalgia. It has left me bed ridden for weeks at a time and when the flare ups are bad nothing works. I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched.
939964 tn?1288017024 I was waiting anxiously when I heard this medication was very helpful for fibromyalgia patients, and coming to Canada. To my dismay I had all the side effects mentioned for this medication and was told by my doctor to stop taking it. Like Doctor Rajgopal mentioned about medications, I was given amitriptyline which helps me have a good night sleep and I feel more refreshed when I wake up.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My primary Dr prescribed Cymbalta 60mg and 1800 mg Gabapentin. I was still having debilitating pain after 5months. I recently saw another doctor who for once actually listened to me and took time with me which I did like and he did not write me off as someone just seeking medication. I have never been one to take a pill to fix ailments including for a headache. This new dr. Prescribed hydrocodone 7.

Avatar f tn Hey Suzy. Welcome to the forum. Oxycodone @ 10mg injected will produce the SAME results as morphine for most people. I'm mentioning this to point out that these types of drugs are opioid drugs, potentially habit forming narcotic drugs. The fact that they are prescribed legally, does not make them any less dangerous than street drugs, other than the fact that their "quality" and strength are consistent with what they claim.
428266 tn?1295644780 I have pain all over my body and I can't sleep! I have had fibromyalgia pain for about 3 years now and the medication I've been on has recently been increased and this weekend the pain seemed to have increased even morem. What should I do? Should I switch my meds?
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed at the beginning of the year with fibromyalgia. dr. gave me lyrica samples and it was like a wonder drug. the pain was minimal and my afternoon exhaustion was gone. i went to fill the prescription and the insurance denied coverage and said it was "experimental". now, my dr. was not 100% certain that it was fibro. he said that i had a lot of sensory issues that made him under sure. i think that is why the insurance denied coverage. soooo, he tried me on gapapinten.
Tbd About two years ago my doctor added ezetimibe to my regimen. It has been lowering my bad cholesterol how ever the first of this month I missed taking them for about a week and for the first time in years I felt less fatigued. I do have Fibromyalgia which is usually the cause of my fatigue, but this is a different type of fatigue. I have not restarted either of the cholesterol meds back because I have felt so much better. I know I need to talk to my doctor about it.
Avatar f tn an opiate is not the main medication for treatment. Most patients are on a nerve pain medication like Lyrica, Neurontin, or Cymbalta. These target specific nerve pain which is your main source of pain with the herniated discs and sciatic nerve pain. An opiate does not work well for this. Same thing with having a muscle relaxer to take as needed. Flexeril, Skelaxin, Robaxin, Baclofen, or Zanaflex. This is very useful for those times with bad muscle spasms... Again...
Avatar f tn My doctor just put me on medication for fibromyalgia today- It is Vicodins for pain. Does Effexor XR and Zoloft help these since he put me on all three?
5586759 tn?1370435272 1. Avoid carbohydrates from simple sugars (no artificial sugars either!), grains, breads, sweets, sodas etc. Stick with plenty of fresh organic vegetables, pastured meat, free range chicken, low mercury fish, some fruit, nuts, seeds, legumes and avoid cooking oils, as when heated they become inflammatory.
Avatar n tn It is frustrating to be a young parent but not to be able to keep up with my children physically. Also after finding a medication regimen that works for me I seem to have to start at ground zero which means that my pain is at an all time high while these Dr.'s here try to treat me for other things, including the old "it's all in your head lecture." It's nice to meet you all...
Avatar f tn Hello. I am new to this group. Recently diagnosed at Mayo Clinic (after 3 visits during past 4 months) with Fibromyalgia, Central Sensitization Syndrome, Sjogren's Syndrome, Dysautonomia (Autonomic Dysfunction), Migraines and Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. Today, a local rheumatologist in South Florida said "I don't support disability for fibromyalgia." After I questioned this, she said "never, ever" not even when combined with the other diagnoses and symptoms.
Avatar f tn Is there an effective way to treat acne for those with fibromyalgia? My dermatologists have tried quite the variety of treatments for the acne with no success. The acne isn't cystic, but a bit more problematic than mild acne. Also, a sulfa allergy limits that option for treatment. Current regimen includes Azelex (for redness and inflammation) and Tretinoin. I'm curious if there is an effective treatment that takes the fibromyalgia into consideration.
Avatar n tn Has your doctor prescribed this for you and said it's o.k.? I take 300 mg of Effexor XR every day, and .5mg of clonazepam in the morning, and 1 mg at bedtime, and I'm fine. He just recently added Wellbutrin to the regimen. I'm wondering why you are asking this. If you doctor prescribed this for you, he/she must feel it's safe for you to take. I'd like to know more. Write me back if you'd like.
Avatar m tn I have been told for 3 years I have Fibromyalgia along with osteoarthritis in many areas; osteoporosis (I have lost 2 and l/2 inches in 3 years; fracture mode; every medicine I had been put on has been problems and I have been taken off all for Fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and arthritis. Now, my right eye is getting fuzzy, not every day, but more days all the time. My doctor has said although I need back surgery, be careful doing that because it will possibly make your fibromyalgia worse.
Avatar m tn Not likely. Seizures don't typically start out as panic attacks. Panic attacks are actually more likely to occur if you abruptly stop taking Ultram. There is a risk of seizures while taking Ultram, however, especially while on the extended release version. If your wife has been on this medication at this dose for 4 years though, I would not expect seizures to start up at this point.
4861077 tn?1360156139 Hi all just a quick question I have just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and live with pain everyday. Avatar f tn Ibuprofen comes in a variety of brands from store brand (cheapest and perfectly fine) to Advil to Motrin. There is another OTC medication called alleve that women take as well for cramps. Always best to talk to your doctor first but these options are safe. And they work well.

Avatar m tn The recommended adult oral dose for treating duodenal ulcers is 40 mg once daily at bedtime or 20 mg twice daily. Most patients heal their ulcers within 4 weeks. The regimen for maintenance therapy after the ulcers are healed is 20 mg once a day at bedtime. The recommended adult oral dose for treating gastric ulcer is 40 mg once a day at bedtime, and esophagitis is treated with 20-40 mg twice daily for 6-12 weeks. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is treated with 20 mg every 6 hours.
