Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
529224 tn?1400648219 ) - which my consultant had suggested before first knee OP, and my knee (despite being in a worse arthritic state than the first knee before OP!) improved - I don't have pain, or instability anymore!
Avatar f tn I have pain in both my upper arms. I suffer from osteoarthritis and wondered if it is connected, I know it is in my spine. The pain is enough to disrupt my sleeping, and I sometimes find it difficult to pick up or hold a book to read because it's so painful. I have to sleep on my side and I'm not sure if it's connected to that. I have tried putting heat on and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Avatar n tn My Primary Care Physician suspects that I have Fibromyalgia, and I am not certain. I would like to go to a Dr. who deals regularly with this disease, to be able to know why I have so much pain throughout my body. I know of one Dr. that I heard about through a patient of his, I overheard her talking about her Fibromyalgia, and asked her who is her Dr. She told me Dr. Elliot Kopp, in Raleigh. I am just not sure who to go to, can you help with that?
1378884 tn?1315505845 I am just curious as to how Docs figure out which type of arthritis one has. I am also a hashimotos survivor and am concerned that it may be having an impact on my knees which have done things over the years that no one of my size should have done. It's mostly confined to my left knee. I have broken both knee caps in the past, (car accident and Karate Class) had a meniscus tear repaired, which made left knee much worse. Hands and feet are fine.

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar f tn I have not heard anything about a new procedure but I did hear that there is a new pain medication called Nucynta (Tapentadol) which is a mu-opiod agonist analgesic. It is structurally similar to Tramadol.
587778 tn?1261397118 It does not matter if I am standing, sitting, walking, or lying down, I am in pain constantly for the last week. I am wondering if I have re-injured my knee or is this how mild osteoarthritis feels?
Avatar m tn There is no blood test for osteoarthritis. The blood tests are for various connective tissue disorders. Osteoarthritis can be diagnosed on clinical findings or when it shows up on xrays.
Avatar f tn I now get a clicking sound when walking and my leg gets stuck it wont straighten i have to push the side of my knee from the outside of the leg its like the knee joint comes out i hear a clik and the pain gets easier to manage if i do this its excruciating .i have been diagnosed with Sciatica of the back is this related? Avatar m tn knee osteoarthritis . Is electrical nerve stimulation(tens) an effective therapy for providing pain relief?
Avatar m tn I'm 32 and I've never had any sort of leg, knee, or joint problem. Lately I've noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. For a few days I could feel something move in the same knee when I would walk down stairs. It felt like it was located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. That went away. The right knee doesn't have any issues.
Avatar f tn Hi... I was diagnosed with ostearthritis & fibromyalgia a few years ago...and have been taking mobic since then, which has worked. About a month ago, the mobic didn't seem to be working as well.. my hands were hurting a lot at work... so I went back to my dr & he changed my medicine to relafen for the osteoarthritis & lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Although the lyrica seems to work, I'm not liking the side effects, puffy hands & feet & eye twitching...
Avatar f tn I never know where the pain is going to be when I wake up. It has been so sever in my arm that I couldn't move it, had to take cortisone. Has been in my neck, foot, knee, eyes and finger so far. The finger was the only spot that showed obvious inflammation. I am 63 and I do have arthritis. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar m tn My mother has recently experience these symptoms: shoulder, wrist, hip, knee pain. Plus, in the mornings sometimes she can't make a fist, and experiences "buzzing" in her joints throughout the day. Especially her hands. She also experiences a great deal of back pain and she bruises easily. She has been tested for parvo, limes disease, arthritis and lupis. no luck yet. she also can be quite thirsty throughout the day.... any idea?! she has been given naproxen as a pain killer.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I was first diagnosed with a positive ANA for lupus. I've been seeing a Rheumatologist for almost 4 years now. They seem to think I have Fibro/Osteoarthritis. Currently, I'm on disability at the age of 40. I desire to return to work on a part time basis so that I can feel good about myself. Recently, my fiancée got a job in Chicago and I'm concerned if that move will make things worse. Any thoughts?

996946 tn?1503249112 Hello, all.... I've been posting around the MedHelp site for a bit now, but have just landed here in the Fibro forum. Before I post my question, I want to speak to LindaTX's question. I saw my rheumatologist, who has been practicing for probably 35+ years, just four days ago.
Avatar f tn She also suffers from recurring (chronic) Lyme disease, heart valve issue from undiagnosed strep infection, fibromyalgia, extensive osteoarthritis, in need of a knee replacement, migraines, an anxiety problem which has caused her to disfigure herself by picking (she experienced severe bleeding last year when she picked so deeply between her eyebrows she was afraid to tell me. Her bloody towels were a testament to the blood loss. She has even more health issues too.
Avatar f tn There could be so many reasons why they hurt. Mine is because I have Fibromyalgia, and Osteoarthritis.
Avatar n tn If i have muscle pain in about every muscle in my body , and I also have osteoarthritis all through my spine could this be from the ostesoarthritis or would it be something like muscle atrophy, and is there any thing that can be done for it. i am never pain free.
Avatar f tn Get your knee ligaments checked along with quadriceps and hamstrings. The 6 knee ligaments which might get affected are the menisci, collaterals and cruciate ligaments. If you have chronic knee pain in both of your legs then rule out osteoarthritis or other joint problems like Rheumatoid arthritis and other systemic diseases. Go for an X-ray and follow up with an orthopedician for a proper diagnosis. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hi, I am recovering from a partial menisectomy of my lateral meniscus in my right knee, Although it went great and I am DELIGHTED to be back running again, I was recently informed that I lost 40-50 percent of my meniscus during surgery because it was so torn up. Does this mean that osteoarthritis is inevitable in my near future? I am only 16, and hope to be running as long as I can. :( Is it possible that osteoarthritis could end my pain-free life at age 30?
1069378 tn?1255215132 , but my knee never healed and in fact the pain has spread to other parts of my knee and my knee swells very easily when I do anything (upright, sitting, sleeping). The MRI shows that my lateral meniscus is torn again and x-rays show I have osteoarthritis. One of the orthopedic surgeons I saw suggested trying Synvisc injections before resorting to surgery, especially since the surgery will involve removing the rest of my lateral meniscus which will in turn worsen the osteoarthritis.
