Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia itching

fibromyalgia

5682570 tn?1372287319 I have fibromyalgia and hepatitis c. I have a constant rash and itching, sometimes better, sometimes worse. It is very annoying, I feel like I might have a thyroid problem but doc says she can tell by my blood work I do not have a problem. I do not agree with that, but maybe it is the fibro or the Hepatitis C. All the doc gave me was hydrocortisone 2 %. Not much help there though. My rash is on my forearms and sides of hip and lower belly. I have had it over 6 months now.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have taken different medicines and nothing seems to help. Some help me sleep but that's it. The worse thing to me is the fatigue, I feel like I'm exhausted every day all day !! I also recently have something new happening, My legs will start itching then a bruise will appear on my top thigh, not a normal looking bruise but like little purple and black dots. I have 3 now in about the past 3 months.
Avatar f tn I'm new here and I haven't had a fibromyalgia diagnosis, but I have had muscle twitching all over (mostly in my legs) and that has died down quite a bit, but I've have tired muscles and I have been so tired. I get tender spots that hurt for no reason to the touch. This past Saturday I went dancing and almost didn't make it through the first song, my legs started to hurt so bad. I woke up the next morning and it felt like someone had beat my legs with a baseball bat.
Avatar f tn Red, itching, bumpy, RASH following stomach flu post 72 hours. Have both fibromyalgia and chronic migraine headaches. Positive ANA with no definitive diagnosis. Ideas? Thoughts? Tips? Benadryl helps some for itching. This is 4th day with rash, still having headache and stomach upset, no new meds, no new foods or chemicals.
520191 tn?1355635402 Yes, all of these issues can stem from fibromyalgia, but I was also thinking for the constant itching, if this could be from a reaction from some of your meds. Maybe there are a couple of meds that you're taking that are reacting to one another. I would ask your pharmacist or doctor first. Or this could be an allergic reaction to one of the medications. Check out these avenues first and see what comes of it.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a couple years ago. Could it be linked to that? Also I have two symptoms that I'm not sure where they are coming from, I have had significant hair thinning over the last two years and they keep checking my thyroid but it seems to check out fine, also I have extreme episodes of all over itching that is VERY intense. The doctor acted as if all these were no big deal and told me to take benadryl. Should I be concerned? Get another opinion?
Avatar f tn I now have unexplained low grade fever, hand/foot joint pains, bloating, diarrhea/constipation, severe fatigue/malaise and an unexplained rash that causes severe itching, for 2 to 3 days, dries up, then another patch will appear some where else. I have had several blood test all of which are negative for ANA (had one POSITIVE ANA 2 years ago), Lymes, RMSF, and several others. My protein, globulin, albumin, calcium and RBC counts are now low. This is a new finding. PLEASE HELP diagnose me.

Avatar m tn Doctor taking me off prendison gradually, is that why i have itching blotchy skin and bubbles or blisters below my eyes?
1071027 tn?1258574445 If I press on a sore area, I experience severe pain. Within a few minutes, it dies down and turns to itching. Eventually it all calms down. What is this? I have cervical myelopathy and fibromyalgia. Could be the latter, I guess. I don't know if I should say something to the doctor or just live with it. It only hurts when I press on it. Sound familiar to anyone?

Avatar n tn Another cause of burning pain is fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia can cause burning and itching sensation in the skin. I would suggest you to discuss these possibilities with your treating doctor. Do keep us posted!
Avatar m tn Yes, I have fibromyalgia and have experienced random itching all over. It was particularly worse at night which is very troublesome for us fibro. folks who already have difficulty sleeping. Topical treatments and antihistamines did not work for me. Fortunately, it went away for now, but it was indeed horrible.
Avatar n tn Itching obviously has several causes. Neuropathic itching, or itching resulting from a problem with nerves, is not common but does occur in some cases as a symptom of neuropathy. It is thought that neuropathic itching results from dysfunction of specific small nerve fibers, and treatment of the itch should be aimed at targeting this dysfunction. Treatment should be similar to that used for other types of neuropathic symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi. I woke up one morning and my face was swollen badly. No other symptons. I started with some allergy medicine I had at home & by evening swelling had gone down some. Next morning, swelling was back with right eye almst swollen shut. Swtched to o.c. Benadryl 50mg every 4-6 hrs. Swelling decreased more, itchy rash started on face & neck. Next mornig swelling decreased greatly, itchy eyelids, facial skin horriblybumpy, rash spreaded to chest, back, and upper arms.
Avatar f tn Approx 6 months ago, I started noticing an almost constant itch between my breasts (where the front of my bra touches), and also around my ankles when wearing socks. 3 weeks ago I started taking Savella for fibromyalgia. Suddenly (only for about 3 days now) I have INTENSE, constant itching on the areas of my body that have the most constant contact with my clothing, ie my back, chest, ankles (around tops of socks).
Avatar f tn They are small red welts and the itching can be unbearable. No cortisone creams or antihistamines have worked. I had bed bugs a couple years ago and I think the rash started then, but I definitely don't have them anymore and the rash is still bad. It gets worse after hot showers or exposure to bugs (mosquito bites, etc.). I have Crohns, fibromyalgia, and SIBO so I looked for rashes related to that but they don't seem to match my specific case.
571361 tn?1221003690 Anyone know of any autoimmune disease that causes severe itching, swelling, joint pain, severe fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, shaking, tremors, twitching (like someone with Parkinsons), abnormal blood tests, pain in flank area, now headaches, palsy's, always cold, night sweats, get flushing, red patches, fevers, high heart rate, low blood pressure, upper left quadrant pain, constipation, then sometimes incontinence, etc. I'm almost 38 years old, please help.
Avatar n tn I really don't know where to post this, but here it goes....Since 2009 I've been on narcotics for severe back pain because a MRI found that I had two bulging disks. I had the MRI repeated because I started having nerve pain in my left leg, but then it went away. Anyways it was discovered that my disks aren't bad enough to cause my pain.
Avatar m tn Very few outbreaks - due to valtrex and some...ability to deal with stress. Now that I am under more stress and fibromyalgia/asthma, I am finding that I have had more outbreaks than I would like! Valtrex does help, but what I would really be interested in is something that is topical like an ointment, oil, etc... that can be applied directly to the genitals in order to relieve the itching/burning, etc... I have read online about taking supplements re: L-Lysine - but still no ointments.
Avatar n tn I'm allergic to codeine. I'd been taking vicodin, then norco. now i'm having itching and anxiety when i take it. Any suggestions? I'm seeing my Dr. Monday..this is Friday. Thx!! I also take lyrica, trazodone (RLS), celexa, synthroid. I have degenerative disc & joint disease, injury to coxica & sciatic joints and severe fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Do you have allergies? The itching all over may be related to something you ate or used that you are sensitive to. The pain in the scapula could be from an injury? Did you injure yourself somehow? Tingling can be from an injury. We need a lot more information before we can offer much advice.

Avatar n tn I have the added bonus of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) that can often come with Fibromyalgia. Not everyone with Fibromyalgia has MCS along with it, but the two issues do tend to happen together for some people. I am intolerant to the usual narcotics and just get really sick with the stuff, and it doesn't really help with the pain. I tried Tramadol for a while.
Avatar m tn About 2 years ago I had itching on my legs with no rash, just slight hives. Because I scratched it constantly i developed bruises (dark blue) all over my thighs. They did have a bullseye look i guess but nothing like the red and pink spots i see in photos. Went to the ER because the itching was unbearable negative for everything in blood tests. Fine for a year and a half. About 4 months ago I had extreme fatigue and constant nausea. I am literally nauseas all the time but i never throw up.
