Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia in shoulder

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn t really sound much like fibromyalgia pain - that pain is typically widespread and not just in one area (although certain areas can feel worse at times than other areas). It also usually affects both sides of the body pretty equally. It sounds more like maybe a shoulder injury (have you fallen or stretched your shoulder at all? heavy lifting?) I could also be a pleuritic type pain (inflammation of the area around the lungs).
Avatar f tn Over the past year My Doctor has treated me for Bursitis with cortisone injections and spinal block but to no avail. The pain is now in my entire left leg, left shoulder and arm along with headaches on the left side of my head and neck. My profession is equestrian/trainer and it has become increasingly more difficult to work with the horses. When I ride if I ride for over two hours I am in tears! I used to ride for 8-12 hours in a day. I am afraid and do not have any answers. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn ) inflammation in both shoulders and after giving me a round of steriod shots in my shoulder joint (now that hurts) he said that all he had left to offer was surgery to shave the bone where the muscles rub. I opted for chiropractic care. Although the pain is never gone, my range of motion is almost 100% in my shoulders. I've been seeing my chiro for about 3 years and he has helped me a lot with therapy and muscle stimulation as well as the adjustments.
Avatar f tn For the past 5 1/2 years I have had chronic pain in my arms, legs, shoulder and neck. Doctors have done MRI's, an EMG which showed a pinched nerve, a myelogram with a cat scan which showed a perfect spine and no pinched nerve. The pain is unbearable, I have headaches all the time, weakness in my left arm and shoulder, tingling and lightening bolt pains and spasms that shoot down my back and down my legs.
Avatar n tn I can only turn my head to the left so far and I am getting pain and it goes up behind my ear and into my head could this be coming from my fibromyalgia? I have never had it there before. Mostly elbows and knees and shoulder sometimes.
Avatar f tn Can Fibromyalgia only effect the left side of the body? For the past year my health has declined starting from my ancle, spreading to my foot and toes to my calf and up my thigh to my arm and hand up to my shoulder, now I have plursey.
Avatar f tn org/wiki/Ergonomics I was diagnosed with Shoulder Impingement Syndrome in 2008, tendinitis of the shoulder and I also had a type II acromion bone, which is essentially a bone spur of the shoulder bone. In April of 2008, I had shoulder arthroscopic decompression surgery and coracoacromial ligament release, which means they removed part of my ligament. This surgery was done to prevent me from developing a Rotator Cuff tear.

Avatar f tn oh sorry mines all over as well shoot its in my scalp and down to my lumbar and from shoulder to shoulder darn thing about it is you never know is it from pinched nerves or fibromyalgia i take lyrica for it.
Avatar f tn I have both issues and have had surgery in my shoulder because I ended up having a bone spur in my shoulder, which caused the impingement syndrome. That can cause referred pain most certainly in the areas you mentioned. Not everyone ends up needing surgery for the shoulder issue. It's not always caused by a shoulder spur, sometimes it's just overuse and can easily be remedied by rest, ice and some NSAIDS, Talk to your doctor and see what he/she recommends. Good luck.
Avatar n tn My Primary Care Physician suspects that I have Fibromyalgia, and I am not certain. I would like to go to a Dr. who deals regularly with this disease, to be able to know why I have so much pain throughout my body. I know of one Dr. that I heard about through a patient of his, I overheard her talking about her Fibromyalgia, and asked her who is her Dr. She told me Dr. Elliot Kopp, in Raleigh. I am just not sure who to go to, can you help with that?
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your post. As I read your suggestions I found so many things that have been a problem over the years.I do take extra strength vitamin D and calcium...D-1000 and a Senior woman's multivitamin daily. In summer I get lots of sunshine as I have a large lawn that takes me 3 1/2 hrs. on a riding mower. As for the glaucoma, there is no record of anyone in my family ever having this. I've had problems with H. pylori in regard to problems with my digestive system.
212591 tn?1247106094 I have been undetectabe for 3+years and I still experience occasional pain in my right shoulder. Is this a normal symptom after this long? I was stage 3, grade 3 pre-treatment.
Avatar n tn Hyperthyroidism should be suspected in case of burning in eyes and hot and sweaty upper body. In females above 40 years it can be a symptom of menopause or premenopause. Peripheral neuropathies as in diabetes too should be looked into. Fibromyalgia is another possibility. It is unlikely to be a cancer as endoscopy would have caught it. Take care!
Avatar f tn Had a tetanus shot ten days ago due to a severe cut in right hand requiring stitches...also have fibromyalgia...since then, after a couple days of minor aches, severe onset of pain in right upper arm and shoulder. Haven't been able to sleep or find any relief. Dr. put me on prednisone, and percocet, have been on prednisone for four days and beginning to decrease my dose...find little relief with percocet 7.5/500 taking 1 every six hours, will run out tomorrow.
Avatar f tn I get sharp pains in my knees shoulder blades, elbow, ankles but it’s not constant some days I have no pain at all. Does anyone else do this? I have a dr appt on Monday and I’m gonna see if they still think that’s what it is.
Avatar m tn Following a good organic diet for borth migraine and fibromyalgia helps and avoiding stress. I have blackout shades in my home and NO FLOURESCENT BULBS!!! Warm baths are great. I've been watching some research at Stanford and hoping for success there. It's non narcotic and inexpensive. You can catch a youtube film about it by looking up stanford fibromyalgia. Good luck.
975514 tn?1324997938 I had a shoulder spur that was removed through surgery as well and I suffer from tendinitis in my shoulder and arm. In the past I have had tendinitis in my knees. I also seem to have something going on with my kidneys, but that hasn't been figured out yet either. I was diagnosed with TMJ, BUT my teeth grew in incorrectly and one of my wisdom teeth was missing on one side and the other tooth on the other side grew in with double the roots. It was almost as if the bones grew asymmetrical.
Avatar n tn pain in the upper arm, right in the middle. No shoulder or elbow pain. Left is worse than the right, if I bump my arm or if someone sqeezes my arm, even lightly it causes me more pain. My arms hurt all the the time, I wake up in pain. I am 19 yrs old and have been having this pain since I was about 11 yrs old. I have been to a Rheumatologist, Orthopedic, Muscle specialist and Surgeon. I have had MRIs, Xrays and an EEG...nothing! The pain is always there, please please help.
Avatar f tn I have had fibromyalgia for the last 2 years. Just recently I started waking up in the middle of the night with extreme pain in my fingers and I can't bend them. Usually by morning, once I flex them enough they loosen up. I did start doing light weight lifting to give me more strength and I think thats when the pain in my fingers and hands started up. I don't grip the weights at all. I notice to when I do push ups I have alot of pain in my wrists. I'm not sure what is going on.
Avatar m tn s noticing his left arm is not as and seems to be slightly thinner in the area between the shoulder and the elbow than the good one. This happened to him for the first time back in October and lasted for months the pain and symptoms went away but it started again this week..the pain is excruciating he's been to the doctors, chiropractics, he's having massages but nothing seems to work....any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I've been to the doctor several times about my shoulder pain and nobody seems to know what's wrong with me. The last time I went, I was told I have arthritis in my shoulder and needed PT, but I don't have any insurance so I can't afford to go. Does anybody know how to cope with this debilitating pain? Most of the time I can't move my shoulder, I can't pick anything up, it just plain hurts to move it! The naproxen I was prescribed did nothing to help me out.
