fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Everything has been fine until recently I started having joint pain which became worse so I had blood test which are as follows Free T3 5.27pmol/1 Free T4 15.98pmol/1 and TSH 0.20mIU/ml. My previous readings were alot lower. My doctor says I have fibromyalgia and has given me Lyrica and Betaloc as my blood pressure is quite high. He hasnt changed my thyroxine dosage which is strange if the results are alot different than normal.
1281603 tn?1283798699 with the recent XMRV findings, I wonder if it would be possible to separate fibromyalgia and ME/CFS (the recommended term for chronic fatigue) into 2 different forums. There are different issues between the 2 disorders.
Avatar f tn Welcome to MedHelp, I agree with wonko. I think if I were you I would ask your doctor to test you for Lyme disease. It does make sense. I too underwent a Lyme titer to rule out the disease because of neurological symptoms I had. I also have a history of atrial fibrillation as does my father who is borderline Hyperthyroid. My uncle has Graves disease, so I am always keeping a close eye on my thyroid, which at this point is normal.
Avatar m tn I have done some reading where some people are getting relief with a gluten free or even a vegan or dairy free diet (try reading the Lupus Recovery diet - has good case studies for those with fibromyalgia as well). It is important that she do some light exercise but never to the point of exhaustian and if her pain get higher take it easy. It took me a while to learn this. I get on my eliptical daily and started with just 5 minutes at a time.
Avatar f tn I was recently told by someone that works with fibromyalgia patients that a gluten free diet could lessen my symptoms. Just trying to figure out what has or not has gluten has been confusing and a bit discouraging. But I am willing to try it if it works. Has anyone tried it? What were your results?
Avatar f tn s worth, I would encourage you to try posting your question in a couple other forums, too. I would try the Fibromyalgia forum and the undiagnosed symptoms forum. Maybe even the Rare Diseases forum. I think you'll have a better chance of getting your question answered.
4861077 tn?1360156139 ), free T4, Free T3 (free means available), and check reverse T3, which if too high slows cellular metabolism. And tests aren't the be all/end all. Symptoms matter...but if adrenal problems exist simultaneously that muddies the water, and confusing the two symptom sets means dosing thyroid higher based on ongoing fatigue could create a need to watch for dosing thytoid too high.
Avatar f tn So I went to the fibromyalgia forum and no one is there. People post like every other day or something there.
Avatar f tn Hello I had my Thyroid removed in march 2009, they found cancer and nodules on it. I just went threw Iodine radiation and finially on some thyroid replacement. Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
1438412 tn?1315507919 I'm sorry I haven't been on in a couple days; my life is pretty hectic right now....... I find that if I drop a few pounds, my pain is less, as well. Rest assured that you don't sound like a nut......... Looking over your post about arthritics and fibromyalgia, I hope you don't mind if I ask some questions........ What type of "arthritics" do you have? Do you have RA or osteoarthritis?

Avatar n tn I am only 25 and have all the symptoms of fibromyalgia, CFS and MCS. I am unable to get out of bed some days but because of my young age my doctor is not seeming to take me seriously. He tests my thyroid and iron levels and many other things, but has not sent me to a fibromyalgia specialists. Also I have not been able to get disability cheques, so I am on government assistance:(. Does anybody more experienced have any advice for me? This can be quite stressful.

Avatar n tn You never got tested for low thyroid? Testing is called Free T3, Free T4, and TSH. Lots of pain and tingling with that, can be like fibro in bad cases. Daily Throid hormone fixes it.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the medhelp neurology forum with your query. fibromyalgia is a chronic condition causing pain, stiffness, tenderness on muscles, tendons and joints. There appears to be a diffuse disturbance in pain perception in fibromyalgia patients. Tattooing can elicit unknown responses in these patients because about half of them are known to have allergies. It may trigger muscular pains and other symptoms in these overtly sensitive individuals.
756668 tn?1287225387 I guess from reading our posts that this could either be sciatica or fibromyalgia. Sorry for the spelling errors..they should have an edit button and spell check button. I guess I answered the question myself. No I am not mental...just started researching other posts. I cannot believe I answered myself..I am sitting here LMAO!!!!
691864 tn?1298919197 I just wanted to introduce myself and give you all a thank you...your posts and information have been informative. I have been "lurking" here for a couple of weeks, trying to find some answers. A little background: About 4 months ago, my daughter and co-worker started laughing at me after dropping my keys several times, one right after the other. I laughed it off, blew it off and didn't think nothing of it, until it started happening with more frequency.
735919 tn?1236444549 I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.
462570 tn?1273632977 Hi, new to this forum. I'm a Lean Type II Diabetic and don't respond to oral meds. I have been placed on Lantus and started that in Jan. 08. I run fastings in the 130s to 140s (on a good day I'll read out in the high 120s!) and depending on the time of month, what I have eaten and my pain level from fibromyalgia - my 2 hours are usually 140s to 160s. (Normally in 150s). My last HC1a was 6.1. Anyone else out there that is lean, type 2 and has to use insulin?
