Avatar n tn s relaxant, so when you target that you can gain weight. The medical approach with fibromyalgia is to treat the pain, the natural approach is to build the body up through diet, exercise, meditation, etc. eliminating all weakening and inflammatory factors. Snris are now being used for fibromyalgia pain, but they are very difficult drugs and hard to quit and can be liver toxic, but something else to consider if nothing else is working. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain due to degenerative joint disease and fibromyalgia that all started after a near fatal auto accident. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone and I have gained over 30 lbs. Will a combination of these 2 meds cause you to gain wight? I weigh more than I ever have and more than I did when I had my son. I used to have a really high metabolism. I had a hard time gaining enough weight when I was pregnant.
Avatar n tn If you don't properly digest your food you will store fat. Taking digestive enzymes with ox bile will help your condition. I had my gall bladder removed 2 and 1/2 years ago and had problems with abdominal pain and weight loss. I lost weight because every time I ate I would have pain. The less I ate the better I felt. I started taking digestive enzymes 6 months after surgery because I developed fibromyalgia. It helped with my abdominal pain.
Avatar f tn If you're underweight you're going to want to gain 30-40 pounds while pregnant. If you're severely underweight, you'll ideally want to gain more - in that situation your doctor would be your best guide. The key is moderation. You only need 300-500 extra calories while pregnant, so you don't have to 'eat for two'. Try looking for foods that will keep you fuller for longer, or eat small snacks through the day.
470168 tn?1237471245 I have been taking Lyrica about 1 yr. When I first started Lyrica I immediately experienced euphoria. It was great, I felt wonderful, almost like being high! I again experience it whenever the dosage is increased. This euphoric feeling went away in a short period of time which was disappointing. However, I have found that it still continues to help in a more normal way. My energy level is better than before, I have less pain and my mood is also better.
Avatar f tn Why is it everything they give you for this makes you gain weight yet they tell you to lose the weight to help relief stress from your muscles. Go figure.
Avatar n tn I'm looking for a weight gain diet that focuses on a active lifestyle since I'm going to be working out a lot.

Avatar n tn Do talk to your docs about your meds, many of the meds that are prescribed for these diagnoses cause weight gain, and no matter what you do, will cause you to have difficulty losing weight. Discuss your goals with your doc & see if they can point you in a good direction. Also, once your thyroid is more stable, some weight will come off. Try things like simple yoga stretches (not the 'pretzel' ones!
Avatar f tn No that is how you should be feeling. Just be careful as it does cause weight gain. Follow a healthy diet and exercise and you will be fine. Also if may cause sleepness, so don't drive to much until you are comfortable with it.
Avatar f tn You are about 20-15lbs overweight depending on your bone structure for your height. You did not state your age, however, women who are 50+ tend to gain weight due to the hormonal changes in their bodies. You need daily approximately 1800 calories (2000 calories if you are in your twenties). Increasing your physical activities will help you lose weight. You only need >1/2 hour a day and that can be broken up throughout the day.
Avatar n tn How can I have a healthy diet and gain weight? I've tried to gain weight eating more than usual but haven't been able to, what food can I eat? Or is there a diet I could follow?
Avatar f tn You have several choices of diet that are about equally effective - a very low carbohydrate diet (Atkins), a very low fat diet (Pritikin), a portion control diet (Weight Watchers), and a diet focused on eating bulky foods (Volumetrics). The very low carbohydrate diet works somewhat faster, but you are more likely to regain weight with that approach... so if you do that pay particular attention to planning the transition from diet to "maintenance"...

Avatar n tn Due to the fact you are extremely underweight and you need to gain weight slowly, recommend a Heart Healthy diet which means a moderate fat diet to increase ‘good’ fats to benefit your body. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar n tn A healthy and regular meal is vital to gain or lose weight. Consuming more calories than you burn will help you in gaining weight. Try to gain weight in a healthy way. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Avoid foods like cookies, chips, aerated drinks .You can also do aerobic exercises or exercises which will help you gain muscle mass. The added muscle will increase your metabolism which in turn will lead to increased consumption of calories per day to maintain that weight.
