Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia diet book

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn s thyroiditis and was wondering if anyone knows of any good books about the condition. From reading posts it seems like diet and other things can affect thyroid. Still searching for a doctor who will address my symptoms despite my "normal" values. Until then I want/need to do what I can to feel better. Any book recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

470168 tn?1237471245 I have Fibromyalgia, and have recently started to treat this through diet as advised by a private nutricianist I am seeing. This has had a very beneficial effect on my health. The diet involves removing all sugar, alcohol, simple carbs from my diet and eating something sensible every 2-3 hours to regulate blood sugar levels. When I keep to this diet I feel well and the symptoms of Fibromyalgia diminish and my blood sugar levels out normal.
Avatar n tn I have a severe case of Fibromyalgia (+CFS+RA), 10 yrs now. Same symptoms as you've described+ then some. Full on migraine is worst, cluster migraines &/or chronic headache too. If it is sinus it's chronic - follow Dr advice above and consider a neti pot also (chemist/health food store) adding celtic sea salt and bicarb soda (1/8 teaspoon each) into 300ml of boiled water. Cool to tepid and irrigate each nasal passage twice daily.
Avatar f tn Sounds like Fibromyalgia to me. There is few research into FM and diets, but some think that FM might be caused by leaky gut, or it is associated with it. I also have a friend in the US with FM. She told me that since I made her switch to the special carbohydrate diet a few months ago, her flares are not as often, and not as severe anymore. If you are up to it, google it, start with the intro diet (this is important), and then try to stay on the diet for 30 days.

Avatar f tn I was recently told by someone that works with fibromyalgia patients that a gluten free diet could lessen my symptoms. Just trying to figure out what has or not has gluten has been confusing and a bit discouraging. But I am willing to try it if it works. Has anyone tried it? What were your results?
710094 tn?1229308706 First of all believe in the power of your mind to heal your body . I recommend the book "The magic of believing" , tell yourself that you are getting better . Your cognitive difficulty is known as fibrofog or brainfog . Less blood could be flowing to your brain and/or it is overwhelmed by pain signals . Take omega 3 fish and flax oils and gingko biloba along with good b vitamins / multivitamins . Brain fog is common in chronic pain conditions .
Avatar m tn You get enough of the posions in your body you will get sick. Diet seems to help in treating these conditions. One diet which has shown success is the Paleo diet. Might want to check it out. Doesn't cost anything to try it.
Avatar f tn Would anyone know of a diet that would help someone with Hep. c ? Any do's or don't's to help or hurt the patient ? Please feel free to send me a message if you have any advise for me.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I really need some oppinions on this. I've been quite sick lately and no doc I go to will take me seriously. I have had tingling and pins and needles in my hassle and feet, increasing blurred vision - especially in my right eye, slurred speech, impaired memory (forgetting the way to the shops etc...), increased hunger, thirst and urination and fatigue, I'm constantly tired I've noticed it gets worse after eating.
Avatar m tn ll never get your doctor admit it) by going on an elimination diet and then adding back foods slowly. Each of us seems to be sensitive to different foods but often it is dairy, gluten, sugar and caffiene. Research like crazy and share with us here and you will get lots of advice, again, some things work for some and other things for others.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, biopolar II disorder about 2 years ago and recently was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I'm on multiple medications for all three and in the past two years I've gained between 40-50lbs. It's nuts. I have gone on weight watchers, I watch all my food and track it, I eat healthy and I cannot lose any weight. I'm trying to get some excercise in (treadmill) but my feet and hips are so painful I barely crawl out of bed in the am.
Avatar f tn HI I would recommend a book for you----the metabolic treatment of fibromyalgia by Dr. john lowe. i would assume you can get it from amazon. they seem to have everything. good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi Angel, I'm new to the sight and saw your question. I've had fibromyalgia for about 30 years. And I have to say I have 'never' heard of a virus being the cause, though I have heard that an illness or trauma, mental or physical, may initiate the symptoms. I have heard that herpes may be related to the virus that could be the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. And it is speculated that the herpes virus does not break into our immune systems.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know Dr. Harold Bowersox? Apparently Dr Bowersox used to work in the town where I work . Recently ads in our newspaper have started showing up stating that " You can be cured from Fibromyalgia!!" Dr Bowersox has written a book that I have ordered but as a person with Fibromyalgia and a nurse this ad sounds too good to be true. I right away discounted it but have talked to some people I work with who remember Dr Bowersox and say he was a good doctor????? Help me!
462570 tn?1273632977 Hi All, I went to a Dr I Jon Russell who is director of clinical research at University of Texas who has researched Substance P which is elevated in CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) of FM patients but only if primary is FM. Secondary FMS when associated with rheumatoid arthritis is less elevated. He has co-written a book "The Fibromyalgia Help Book" a "Practical Guide to Living Better with Fibromyalgia" which I found very helpful.
Avatar n tn in my legs, arms, basically anywhere you touch is all knotted up and tight. Could it be my diet? I am on generic Zoloft (half a pill) and Wellbutrin SR (generic). I don't know if they have a side effect of tight or spastic muscles. I go to the chiropractor 3x's a week and massage therapy once a week for a half hour. I would do more but that's all I have time and money for at the moment. I am looking into actupuncture.
Avatar n tn But basically, the book the Starch Solution by John A. McDougall MD has a lot of detail about the diet affects your health and how to go on the diet. Also, Dr. Colin Campbell did the China Study which is a large study capering the western diet to the Chinese diet and how it effects your health, etc. I read many books before changing our diet. I hope this helps. It does sound like you have an autoimmune disease. I hope they ran all those types of tests.
Avatar n tn I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I've tried all of the meds they are currently prescribing for this. Has anyone tried alternative treatment for this? If so, did it work for you?
