7450908 tn?1390996321 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain and stiffness throughout the tissues that support and move the bones and joints. Pain and localized tender points occur in the muscles, particularly those that support the neck, spine, shoulders and hips. The disorder includes widespread pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Avatar n tn Fibromyalgia can last forever. There are treatments and even possible cures out there (research protocols). Fatigue, dizziness and so many other symptoms are common in fibro patients and in fact, 29% of fibro patients have a positive ANA titer. I hope that you will consider joining us on MedHelp's fibro/CFS board. I'm the Community Leader there.
Avatar f tn At this time, there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia - one main reason being is they have not determined exactly what causes fibromyalgia. There are many thoughts and ideas on it, however, nothing has been scientifically proven/discovered. There also are no specific blood tests, scans, etc., for diagnosing fibromyalgia = there ARE certain critieria that need to be met before a true fibro diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points — places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.

Avatar f tn Hello I am a 26 year old female that has been suffering from chronic muscle and joint pain. Causes me to lose sleep, advil and Tylenol do not help. Sometimes chills are associated with the pain and even bad head aches. The aches are throughout my body, its like my bones feel fragile. Still trying to figure out what is wrong. Anyone that can help with some knowledge on Arthritis. Or if anyone thinks these symptoms are related to it? It does run in my family.
Avatar n tn What causes attacks of SULPHUR BURPS followed by vomiting and diarrhea lasting for hours? I have had this problem for years, but lately it has become chronic. I'm on a low residual diet (no raw fruits or veggies-only cooked or canned). It helps a little. I have to sleep propped up in almost a sitting position which is miserable. My G.I. doc doesn't know what is causing it. He ran an endoscopy, an enteroscopy, and an ultrasound and found nothing.
Monster Many patients with fibromyalgia feel that their joints are swollen, although there is no visible inflammation of the joints (arthritis). ### FIBROMYALGIA TESTS — There are no specific laboratory or imaging tests used to diagnose fibromyalgia. Thus, the diagnosis is typically based upon a thorough patient history, a complete physical examination, and blood tests, which are used to exclude conditions with similar symptoms.
1348302 tn?1286575703 the hardest part for me to deal with is that there is no cure, and the medical community seems to have no idea what causes fibromyalgia. I will be stuck with it for the rest of my life, even if my back injuries could somehow be "fixed", I have still been irrevocably altered by fibromyalgia. It is like having a life sentence of pain and torture being read to me. I had hoped to be able to one day get off of all my medications and have children.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed w/ Fibromyalgia but I think it was incorrect because I have a highly elevated SED RATE and moderately elevated CK level. This has happened aapprox. 3 years ago when CK level was extremely high (<700) and normal SED RATE. The first time it cleared up by itself in about 4 months, this time I've been going through it since February. Each time I am very weak, tired and have painful knee ankle, foot, e wrist, fingers, elbows. ANA and RA is normal.
Avatar n tn I have not found any literature to show a direct link that either one causes the other. Some experts feel Fibromyalgia may be an autoimmune disorder like hypothyroidism. An underactive thyroid is treated with thyroid replacement hormones such as Synthroid. Fibromyalgia has been treated with muscle relaxers such as Flexeril, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, and pain management like gabepentin (Lyrica).
563582 tn?1217742383 A ubiquitous herpes virus that is integrated into the chromosomes of nearly 1% of all newborns, causes roseola in small children, can infect/reside in many types of cells including the lining of blood vessels, can re-activate with stress, and “has a strong association with many diseases of the central nervous system,” Dr. Bell explains. “Everyone is exposed to it at one time or another.
Avatar m tn I have been told for 3 years I have Fibromyalgia along with osteoarthritis in many areas; osteoporosis (I have lost 2 and l/2 inches in 3 years; fracture mode; every medicine I had been put on has been problems and I have been taken off all for Fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and arthritis. Now, my right eye is getting fuzzy, not every day, but more days all the time. My doctor has said although I need back surgery, be careful doing that because it will possibly make your fibromyalgia worse.

Avatar f tn There are several possible physiological causes for anxiety and depression, and should always be ruled out first. Now, they don't usually end up being the cause, but they could be, and some are very hard for docs to find. There are a group of psychiatrists who call themselves functional physicians, and before they get into any psychological diagnosis they act like physicians and rule out the most likely possible physiological causes.
Avatar m tn ve got one with enough Vit D, Magnesium and Potassium. Fibromyalgia causes muscle pain and sometimes it can be so intense it feels like a bruise at times. I know because that is how I've described it to my doctor. You may want to look into Mitochondrial Disease. That is something I've been doing a lot of research on these days. You can google it. Good luck.
