fibromyalgia

2010625 tn?1329372056 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?
Avatar f tn I have tried multiple meds such as antidepressants and Gabapentin... always have had multiple side effects. Things like heart palpitation's, anziety and vision troubles. I can take xanax and Soma with no problems. My question is "could it be the Armour Thyroid that I take that causes the trouble?" I also have a movement disorder labeled as tremors/non-epileptic seizures which also gets worse with antidepressants.
Avatar f tn Hey nailbox.(That's quite original) Welcome to the forum! Can't say that your case is unique, as two thirds (2/3rds) of patients on gabapentin will experience adverse effects. There may be some changes in your symptoms, better or worse, more or less, if you wish to stick with it. You may also want to look into Picamilon , made by combining a GABA derivative and Niacin which is sold as an OTC dietary supplement in the U.S.A. Not sure where you live.
451366 tn?1211304932 Memory problems are common side effects for the same reason and the close relation between GABA and glutamate, glutamate being involved in learning and memory. Other side effects more likely to happen in women are dizziness, tiredness, balance problems.

Avatar f tn Complaints of fatigue and joint pains are, unfortunately, very common. fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by muscular aches and pains, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists. In fact, many patients who believe they have this condition are often derided by their doctors.
Avatar m tn every medicine I had been put on has been problems and I have been taken off all for Fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and arthritis. Now, my right eye is getting fuzzy, not every day, but more days all the time. My doctor has said although I need back surgery, be careful doing that because it will possibly make your fibromyalgia worse. Will I ever be able to try medicines again? I have an allergy from them...swollen tongue and throat type but, can that ever change???/ Thanks.

712802 tn?1274645485 What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last March. Since then and after trying few different prescription(Neurontin, Cymbalta) I decided I didn't like the way they made me feel and started researching what nutritional supplements could help. I resorted to taking supplements and saw my energy level and some symptoms improve. About 4-6 weeks, I have tingling (pin & needles) in my feet going up my legs and hands. My rheumatologists suggested I see a neurologist, to rule out MS.
Avatar f tn She says I have lupus and fibromyalgia. I have to take Plaquenil. Anyone else have to take that? I take some other meds and I don;t want to have a lot of side effects. She said the main s.e. is diarrhea, which I can cope with.... I want to know if anyone else has others.......
Avatar f tn I have Fibromyalgia and can only work three days a week with days in between and have to sleep 12 hours and two short naps during the days off. This year if I do too much during one day, my upper back spasms into a neck/shoulder pain spasm and causes migraine, and I am bedridden. The only thing that provides relief is a hot bath and codeine and 2 muscle relaxants and one gravol. It has only been that bad for one year.
997519 tn?1251239849 I started having a tingling pain on my arm. It climbed to my hand and back to my arm. Then moved to my legs. I want to know if this is fibro.
Avatar f tn At the moment there is little evidence that the XMRV virus actually causes the most obvious signs and symptoms of FMS. If this virus is similar to other retroviruses and causes immune system problems, then your symptoms may actually be caused by other co-infections or opportunistic infections that are present because of immune system problems.
7450908 tn?1390996321 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
1692515 tn?1306270048 I have been told my mother that at 2 years old I put a bobbie pin in an electrical outlet and she had to get a mop to dislodge me. My question is could my fibromyalgia, reoccuring shingles, and electric shock feeling be caused by this and what can be done to stop it.
Avatar m tn org/posts/Undiagnosed-Symptoms/Random-sharp-and-concentrated-pains-throughout-body-/show/203489 Possible Causes and diagnostics: stress, anxiety, fibromyalgia, phycological trauma Rationale: after years of research I concluded that the causes described earlier may trigger two main types of conditions: depression OR chronic random pain.
Avatar n tn I am Type II diabetic and have fibromyalgia. Have been certified to take medical marijuana. While taking m orally I've found a slight elevation in morning read (120s). Should I smoke instead? Ingesting usually does not provide pain relief.
Avatar f tn 63 y/o female, MVA 22 & 19 yrs ago. Neck PT then and occasional neck/shoulder pain especially associated w/weather conditions. I get bi-monthly massage which deals with neck stuff. Last 8 mos. frequent pain in biceps which sometimes radiates from neck area but not always. Sometimes just biceps alone are affected. Have been doing Tai Chi for the last few months with no progress away from pain. Is my current bicep problem from old neck injury and what is the recommended treatment?
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain and stiffness throughout the tissues that support and move the bones and joints. Pain and localized tender points occur in the muscles, particularly those that support the neck, spine, shoulders and hips. The disorder includes widespread pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Avatar m tn I wanted to know if anyone knows of anything that may help relieve the symptoms until I can be seen. I do have Lupus and Fibromyalgia so not sure if that could have anything to do with it. Any input would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn This can migrate to other areas once tenderness resolve in one area. These nodules can symmetrically involve either side of the body. I also have fibromyalgia and it is important that we get a restorative-form of sleep. This can be achieved by anti-depressant medications that can be taken before we sleep. I suggest you keep close follow up with your doctor so that changes can be monitored. Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn There are many other treatments for both migraines and fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago. I was like a cripple trying to get dressed. Taking a small dose of Trazadone helped me some. Over the years, I kept increasing it which cured most of my symptoms. There is a new fibromyalgia med called Savella which I read praise after praise on another website. Also anti-depressants can serve as pain killers.
