fibromyalgia

1100837 tn?1267668675 Hello Leila006, It is not uncommon to have overlapping conditions such as RA and Fibromyalgia. I have Osteoarthritis of the spine, nerve damage and Fibromyalgia, which is different than what you are suffering from, but I have known a lot of people who have had both problems together. I am just guessing from what you have written, that the Lyrica has made you very drowsy...right?
Avatar f tn RA and fibromyalgia can often go together. Have they ruled out Lupus as well? A 2nd opinion does sound appropriate.
591546 tn?1244636545 , you can find a physician in your area who frequently diagnoses and treats fibromyalgia. Many of these physicians are interested in fibromyalgia and were treating the condition long before Lyrica was available. Some links and information on both RA and fibro: http://www.immed.org/illness/autoimmune_illness_research.html --- Bacterial Infections in Autoimmune Diseases http://www.immed.org/illness/fatigue_illness_research.
1550149 tn?1340000730 I know many people with dual or even triple diagnoses - RA and lupus, lupus and PsA, RA and fibromyalgia, etc. Whatever the diagnosis, though, the treatment for RA, PsA and lupus are nearly identical. So what label you stick on it is less important than what meds work for you to make you feel better and slow down or halt the disease progression.
494623 tn?1278279352 I December 2007 it started with a painful index finger,as the weeks went on I had pain in my all of my fingers and toes and occassionally my knees and elbows, the soles of my feet start burning and tingling if i walk too far....I was sent to a Rheumatologist and he diagnosed RA on what i consider to be very flimsy evidence all I had was a Positive Rheumatioid Factor Xrays Blood work etc was fine,i was offered Methotrexate which declined to take as I remain unconvinced that I actually have RA ..
Avatar f tn You have stiff neck? RA symptoms? Chronic hadaches? stomach and bowell issues? ovarian cysts or a hysterstomy? brain "fog", vertigo, anxiety? If so your Fibro might be in fact a mycoplasma infection or possibly Lymes. Can you give me a full report of your symptoms? Search www.immed.org and look under AI diseases/chronic illness.
Avatar n tn I would like to know if anyone is 38 years old and have any of the conditions, ar or fibromyalgia. How is your pregnancy? Or how it was after 35, my doctors are not happy with this and advice me not to have a baby for it will be too dangerous.
148532 tn?1216640562 Dr Dietrich, can you tell me your take on Hep C and Fibromyalgia? I have both and believe there must be a relationship. Also The fibro has tripled in intensity after treatment, any ideas on how to kick it back down?????
Avatar n tn Yes, I have both fibro and hypo with antibodies
2111119 tn?1334299736 Morton’s metatarsalagia and rotator cuff issues with arthritis may be separate issues and do not indicate fibromyalgia or RA. I would suggest discussing the individual issues and the appropriate management plan with your treating orthopedician. Take care!
Avatar n tn My first rheumatologist diagnosed RA and prescribed me methotextrate and sulfasalazine. The methotextrate alone did nothing for my symptoms, so sulfasalzine was added. Both medications did not for my symptoms. My symtpoms are primarily muscle pain, sometimes burning pain (like sunburn) in muscles of thighs when sitting for long periods of time, and a feeling of swelling in my hands. I should mention that I have 2 cervical herniated discs with cord compression.
Avatar m tn I have fibromyalgia...are any of my systoms similar.
Avatar f tn It's really starting to get on my familes nerves ! I get headaches a lot "migraines" I've been told I have RA without RA factor, Lupus, and now fibromyalgia . I have trouble staying asleep for long . Please help !?
Avatar n tn They have just done another round of blood work yesterday and they are checking for Lupus and also RA, they are now thinking RA due to the fact that I was fine durring my pregnancy and within weeks after it had gotten to a whole other level. Which evidently RA goes into remission durring pregnancy. I dont know but I am grateful that at least they are looking.
Avatar f tn What work for me is, 2 tylenol and 2 ibuprophen at the same time. I have a friend who has RA and aleve really works for her. Just be very careful with the tylenol that you don't overdose. A friend of mine ODed and was dead within 30 min. from liver failure (acedamenophen toxicity). Also be sure and take ibuprophen w/ food to keep from getting an ulcer. I know you know all of this, but sometimes desperate people do desperate things to get relief.
Avatar f tn She diagnosed me with ra strictly from symptoms and xray results. My blood test have all come back negative. She says that I am a sero-negative ra patient. My concern is that I am not totally convinced that I have ra. I know I have all the symptoms and do get worse when I am off of my Arava but I also wonder if I could have Lupus because I have a lot of the symptoms of it and my sister has it. My mother has fibro so I wonder if maybe that is what I have instead as well.
Avatar f tn Right early to this in the year I started experiencing terrible joint pain in both knees, hips, shoulders and then elbows. I was tested and had a positive RA factor. So i would be interested to see how this all ties together as well.
Avatar m tn Following a good organic diet for borth migraine and fibromyalgia helps and avoiding stress. I have blackout shades in my home and NO FLOURESCENT BULBS!!! Warm baths are great. I've been watching some research at Stanford and hoping for success there. It's non narcotic and inexpensive. You can catch a youtube film about it by looking up stanford fibromyalgia. Good luck.
Avatar n tn RA often occurs along with other disorders, like fibromyalgia, lupus, thyroid deficiency, and more. Additionally, RA can affect the cartilage in your rib cage, which is called "costochondritis." It can be mistaken for pleurisy if the doctor is inexperienced in dealing with autoimmune disease patients. Don't give up!!
Avatar f tn I'm 59yrs. old and got sick 3 yrs ago. I just got off a PICC line for Lymes Disease. Was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I have a high postive RA Factor (rhuematoid factor), and my ANA just went positive 1:40 Homogenous pattern. I also suffer from whole body parathesia (pins & needles) and neuropathy for the last 3 years. I'm SO confused! Can Hashi's cause a positive ANA or RA Factor and pins&needles?
Avatar f tn I have Raynauds phenomomen, so my hands get very painful when they get cold and because of the rheumatiod arthritis my joints in my hands get red and hot. You know all the doctors always want to put people on antidepressants for Fibro but I've yet to hear that they work at relieving the pain. I know several people like yourself is on something but they still have pain and the numbing and tingling. Have you been offically diagnosed.
Avatar f tn sounds like it could be fibromyalgia, but there's no definitive test and not all dr's recognize it as an actual disorder. I have similar symptoms and have been diagnosed with hep c and epstein barre.
Avatar f tn I also suffer from fibromyalgia. My hips are killing me already and my thigh goes numb. Are there any good exercises i could do to ease the pain? Im not very active cause of work and having fibromyalgia. Does anyone swim??
Avatar f tn It could be fibromyalgia. Some people get both RA and fibro, or osteoarthritis and fibro. I assume your doctor did all the blood tests, including checking your thyroid. If not, get that done. I am kind of the opposite of you. I was diagnosed with fibro (and osteo in my knees), but I think I have RA, but blood tests didn't show it. Sometimes I think these doctors just throw a diagnosis at you and don't even listen to what your symptoms are. I'm looking for a new doctor now.
975514 tn?1324997938 My story is similar to yours in many ways. I spent over a year with a dx of FMS and depression. Finally I got to a doctor who would run the tests needed and thoroughly explore my symptoms and history. I was dx'd with RA and many other things. Because of my expereince and what you have written, I can emphatically state that you need to see another doctor. If your insurance is an issue, complain loudly until they let you see another doctor.
