Fibromyalgia and itching

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and itching

fibromyalgia

I have fibromyalgia and hepatitis c. I have a constant rash and itching, sometimes better, sometimes worse. It is very annoying, I feel like I might have a thyroid problem but doc says she can tell by my blood work I do not have a problem. I do not agree with that, but maybe it is the fibro or the Hepatitis C. All the doc gave me was hydrocortisone 2 %. Not much help there though. My rash is on my forearms and sides of hip and lower belly. I have had it over 6 months now.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have taken different medicines and nothing seems to help. Some help me sleep but that's it. The worse thing to me is the fatigue, I feel like I'm exhausted every day all day !! I also recently have something new happening, My legs will start itching then a bruise will appear on my top thigh, not a normal looking bruise but like little purple and black dots. I have 3 now in about the past 3 months.
They can eliminate all the other rheumatoid and autoimmune disorders and confirm a fibromyalgia diagnosis. They will also be able to prescribe meds that will effectively treat your symptoms. Don't give up until you find the combo that works right for you. I've had fibro my whole life and have had to fight to get any relief. Hot baths and heating pads are my best friends.
I've been having neuropathic issues like itching/burning/numbness/headaches/pins & needles. I see a rheumatologist for Lupus &/or RA and when I told him my symptoms he said they were all due to fibromyalgia. It really made me mad that he wouldn't take them seriously and didn't even want to treat me for fibro. I'm going to press my family doctor to start a treatment regimen.
So now I know that a lot of my issues are due to the fibromyalgia and am working to try and determine when it is fibro or Lupus. He didn't seem to care about treating it, just said that the depression meds I am on will help me sleep and thus help the fibro. Well I have kept telling him I can manage as I thought my issues were due to Lupus and I didn't want to go on prednisone.
I have been diagnosed with post viral syndrome which is from what I understand like chronic fatigue and fibromayalgia had a baby. I don't even know why I am posting this....maybe for a "hey....welcome to the club!" I dunno I have been relentlessly pursuing a diagnosis for a year with countless doctors and specialists.....I have been called crazy and asked to "just chill" and delusional was my favourite.
ok, since no one can figure out what is wrong with me (abnormal ANAs confirmed), they dx me as fibromyalgia. Now I have severe and I MEAN severe itching of the fingers, they itch, they blister, they harden and then peel. Endless cycle. Now I wake up from the severe itching in my hands,RIGHT hand only lastnight, used to be fingertips only, now entire fingers' length -- on fire itching. Has begun on the bottom of my toes, right side only as well.

I was told that I had Hashimotos and that my thryroid burned itself out. My doctor said that it is common to have hypothyroid and fibromyalgia at the same time and that I need to take both meds. He told me to give it atleast 6 months to feel better. I just don't know, I can barley get through a 12 hour workday without being in such pain. Does it get any better?
I cant help but wonder if I may have dercums disease instead of fibromyalgia and no longer know what do do. Your advice would be very much appreciated.
I'm age 76 female w/fibromyalgia. For about a month, i've had terrible itching in both armpits - right seems a little worse than left. Occasionally, i feel a small 'bump' but can't see it. Now, i see what looks like beginning of bruises - faint bluish patches apx an inch in diameter. Hydrocortisone gives short-term relief. I'm prayng this isn't shingles.
I did go on a cruise ship the first part of November to get some different scenery (besides my bed and couch) and some fresh air. I also avoided the sun then as much as possible. My skin, hair and mind is all coming back to me nicely now since ending all the medicines.........whew!!! You can use some 'tan in the can' for some color but I would not challenge being in the sun. It doesn't work well, even with sun block. Good luck with your treatment.
I discovered that after he got a bit older and I went back to the cheaper detergents that I started itching again and figured out my itching was due to something in the cheaper detergents I was using. I did some research and found out about all the chemicals that are in common detergents and decided to use dreft when I could but since it was so expensive I tried to find cheaper alternatives with less harsh chemicals or dyes.
Scabies infection is caused by a mite Sarcoptes Scabiei, it burrows in the skin folds of hands and feet and causes intense itching mostly at night. You may need to consult a Dermatologist who will examine you and may ask for blood tests and in addition examine the scrapings from the skin to arrive at a diagnosis for appropriate therapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Yes, I have fibromyalgia and have experienced random itching all over. It was particularly worse at night which is very troublesome for us fibro. folks who already have difficulty sleeping. Topical treatments and antihistamines did not work for me. Fortunately, it went away for now, but it was indeed horrible.
I have had severe itching of the scalp for almost two years and have been under treatment by a dermatologist during this time. I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, however my scalp has no redness, flaking, rash or anything. The only symptom is itching and hair loss. The hair loss was just the front top. I have never had any scaling or rash on my scalp, so I don't understand the diagnosis. She prescribed Nizoral 2% shampoo and FS Shampoo alternating every other day.
I have been tested for diabetes, and have had a random CBC done in December. Should I just seek a doctor and ask about fibromyalgia? Sound like that is what it could be? THANKS!
One of the neurologist I saw said that I had fibromyalgia symptoms and then dismissed me. I now have I guess you call them tremors in my body and I literally feel the nerves jumping in my body. My legs and feet hurt including I have pains in my butt! Literally! It feels like whatever it is is just traveling up and down my spinal cord causing problems. Now I feel the jerking and pain in my butt and and back it's really concerning me.
Hello, I was was recently diagnosed with Hashi's and have been put on 75mg of Synthroid. I've only been on the medication for a week and a half and am assuming that it will take a while before I feel a difference. I was just curious if anyone else has experienced tingling/ creepy crawling bug sensation on their skin as a symptom of Hashi? This symptom is fairly new but I'm not sure if it is common. In comparison to the other symptoms I had (i.
I am 42 and have been itching and scratching to fairly severe extremes the last 3 years. I have seen several doctors, many of whom don't bother with a physical exam and diagnose yeast. It is not yeast but they offer no explanation as to the cause. I have tried various underwears made from organic fibre's to no avail. I haved washed with different soaps, cleansers and no cleansers other then water, still no result.
If I press on a sore area, I experience severe pain. Within a few minutes, it dies down and turns to itching. Eventually it all calms down. What is this? I have cervical myelopathy and fibromyalgia. Could be the latter, I guess. I don't know if I should say something to the doctor or just live with it. It only hurts when I press on it. Sound familiar to anyone?

I have been testing for leg numbness, tingling, stiffness, itching, aching and at one point total paraylasis in my right leg for 10 weeks. I have had many tests. It has also affected my bowels and urination. I could not do either. Now I do it without much feeling. My neurologist gave up and turned me over to my Doctors office where I only see the PA. He is sending me back to work to see how I do. He does not have any diagnosis. I have a history of back problems.
I have a suspicion that some of the problems like Fibromyalgia and such are related to a hormonal imbalance. So many of the symptoms you mentioned are related to Menopause. What caught my eye was the "itching" you mentioned. Who knew? right? And, at your young age, the possibility of early menopause might not be considered by many doctors. Well, I have a profile but somehow much of the info in my profile was erased about two weeks ago. I have to redo the profile.
I have had endometriosis for about 11 years and that is a daily struggle not to mention the Fibromyalgia I am 26 years old with an old person body! I wanna be healed. I do believe the mind and body are connected but even my spiritual endeavors have not helped me, someone please some idea?
If you are tired all the time I would think of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, because I know that multiple allergies and fibromyalgia are common to that. But I would tell you to be persistent. Make a list of symptoms when you go to the allergist and questions. If he is not able to make a clear diagnosis and treatment ask if he feels another type specialist (a neurologist?) would be more appropriate.
I have the shakey feeling, joint and muscle aches, and skin rashes and itching. I get headaches, which I never got before. I also get constipated. Get your thyroid checked and your Vit. D. level. The rheumy can do this, if he hasn't already. For the bowels, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, like celery and apples. Take stool softeners every day. Drink a lot of water. Some of the medications can also make you constipated. I know how hard it is to live with this disease.
I have been to the Doctors and been given creams and even antibiotics but I still get the itching it comes on at the end of the summer and lasts into the new year. This year I have tried a new method to ease the itching and to some extent it has helped reduce the problem allowing me to get to sleep and it has stopped me scratching until I draw blood.
penis). Intermittent intense itching and pain in the penis and testicles were also early symptoms, but occur less frequently these days. Also less frequent of late is a feverish feeling, often accompanied by a dull ache in my lower abdomen. Sitting on hard chairs aggravates the symptoms, especially the burning, clammy sensation in the upper thighs and scrotum (sometimes it feels like a blow torch is burning my scrotum, although skin remains normal in appearance).
