Fibromyalgia and hip pain

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and hip pain

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Hip pain can be caused by a variety of problems. Were it FMS causing the pain you would likely be feeling more than just pain in that one area. Since you do not mention any other symptoms, i'm more inclined to feel it could be due to your disk. I hope you have received your test results or get them soon so you will have more answers. Take care.
230948 tn?1235844329 I have heard of people having hip bursitis with your type of pain, or even pain from sciatica can cause hip pain, which I have, but typically, in order to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, you need to have pain in at least 11 of the 18 tender point identified by Rheumatologist for diagnostic purposes. Have you been seen by a Rheumatologist? They would be the doctor best fit to diagnose Fibromyalgia. I have posted a link here from our website (MedHelp) of the common symptoms of Fibromyalgia.
5505362 tn?1368959664 I asked for hip x-rays to see if my hip pain was relevant to anything and found out that I have arthritis and bone spurs in both hips. I notice that it affects my gait but it seems to be independent of my MS. The worst hip is my "bad" side and I do tend to notice more pain with it when I am tired. I went to a physiotherapist who gave me some exercises to help with what he called muscle imbalance. Good luck and I hope your pain gets resolved soon.
Avatar n tn This week the cool weather gave me an horrible bursitis pain in my hip and also increased the pain all around my body caused by fibromyalgia. Had to have cortisone shot in my hip..couldn't take the pain anymore and not a single pill was able to give me any relief. Hoping the cortisone shot starts working ASAP.
1033336 tn?1252506131 2009 i decided to try the family practice physician he listen to my symptoms and sent me to get ultrasounds for my constant right hip pain.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia and my whole back is screwed up so in in constant pain all the time.... I can't even go up a flight of stairs d ue to my legs have no strength like I just did 5k run and my legs can't carry me any longer. The pain is so strong.....
Avatar f tn For the last three years following one of my 3 foot surgeries I have had pain in my left hip. Over the past year My Doctor has treated me for Bursitis with cortisone injections and spinal block but to no avail. The pain is now in my entire left leg, left shoulder and arm along with headaches on the left side of my head and neck. My profession is equestrian/trainer and it has become increasingly more difficult to work with the horses. When I ride if I ride for over two hours I am in tears!
Avatar n tn I'm 47, female and after 8 years of progressively worse hip pain blamed on fibromyalgia, controlled with oxycontin, I insisted on a MRI of my hips. The MRI showed a fluid signal in the superior labrum at the 12:00 to 1:00 position with a likely cause listed as a labrum tear. There is also mild edema within the gluteus medius and minimus tendons and edema around the gluteus maximus. There is also thickening of the gluteus minimus and medius.
Avatar f tn Which antibody was high? I went to a dr. and he diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and it was BS! I am 31 female and it turned out I was low on Vitamin D and Ferritin (iron storage) which caused nerve pain, shooting pains, muscle pain, head pressure and hypothyroid caused the muscle pains in hands & feet. Don't fall for the fibromyalgia dx!!! It takes time figuring out what the real problems are and in the mean time they just label it something else!
Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old woman at 5'0” at 140 lbs. I and slightly over weight from taking an antidepressant 2 years ago. I have had extreme pain for the last 3+ years. It is my lower back, hips, groin, and leg pain. I have seen a total of 13 doctor's; general doctor's, spine surgeons, hip surgeons, pain management doctor, nerologists, and rhematologists. I have been partially diagnosed with random issues that aren't adding up to anything.
Avatar f tn s, fibromyalgia, and a variant on the MEFV gene. My doctor prescribed Elmiron which I just started. Is there a connection between interstitial cystitis and Sjogren's, fibromyalgia, or the inflammatory response from the genetic variant? I'm wondering if there are other treatment options besides the medication that will also address the other issues.
Avatar m tn shooting pain(feels like lighting) from my head, shoulder, arm and hip. This happens on a daily basis and is confined to my left side. I always start sweating on that side. I always feel like I'm in a fog or something(coginitively). I can't feel a needle enter my left arm, yet I can still feel some if they grab my arm. I am just numb to pain. The past ten years or so I have started having "flare ups".
Avatar f tn Then it returned with a vengeance on the right side only now with severe inner ear pain, burning and throbbing. It radiates to my throat and neck as well. I saw an ENT and she dismissed it as muscle pain. I saw a chiro and he tried to help but honestly it was minimal relief. I just now saw a neurologist and that is where the MRIs are coming in. He never mentioned Fibromyalgia to me. In fact, nobody has. So on my own I have scoured the internet and searched inner ear pain and fibro.
Avatar n tn I am now seeing a rhuematologist who has treated me for SI joint pain with cortisone and lido injections and now they say I have hip bursitis and have been treated with more injections.I have even cut my hours down at work because of the pain. I am waiting to see if this works now. It is just so frustrating to keep suffering and not be able to do daily living like I want to. If anyone else out there has any more ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks all.
564491 tn?1320360393 Hi Ettebette, I am so sorry that you are having severe neck pain. I have been where you are. Years of pain and no diagnosis. I was finally diagnosed and my pain was "justified" but it took 15 years for me. If you have had MRI's and CT's and nothing is showing than it is doubtful you have a disc or structural problem. Muscle spams and muscular pain can be just as painful as a disc problem.
1532491 tn?1294594944 I had always thought it was weird how much my knees and wrist crack. But now my back and hip crack a lot too. And some days ill get the worst pain in all of those joints. Do you think it could be something bad? Please help. P.s. I dont purposely crack them. I just move and they crack. And the hip cracking, is that weird? Ive never heard of it before (i also have a problem with cracking my fingers and neck a lot and those hurt sometimes too.) P.P.S whenever i move some of my joints crack.
Avatar f tn I have very similar hip pain, stiff hands and the backs of my wrists HURT. My Dr just ran a series of tests -- B12 & vitamin D levels, checked for thyroid, and ANA levels, as well as checking my liver & kidney functioning. She just referred me to a rheumatologist for further evaluaiton after my ANA test came back positive and all other tests were normal except my ultra low D levels (8 instead of 30-60). She thinks I may have fibromyalgia or an autoimmune illness.
Avatar f tn I started walkn the day after my first serious attack of pain. And it gave me comfort. However, a few minutes after gettn home, the pain slowly came back. At this point i have pain all day long & all night long and sittn is so uncomfortable for me.
Avatar f tn I have outer hip pain and groin. Hip cyst has show with tear. The pain in hips may not completely go with surgery I am told. He says my back is separate from my hip pain. The femoral head and neck are deformed. I have pain in my fingers, all the above I think is due to arthritis???? Now for the firbro part. I used to just have different size painful lumps and masses on my ribcage for about 10 years these are painful and flare up often, they are moveable.
Avatar f tn She has almost become crippled by this hip problem and pain and pain meds and Neurontin do nothing to help. Her fatjher has Multiple Sclerosis and I am desperate to find out what is wrong with her. She is becoming very depressed to be so sick at such a young age. She also has IBS. Do you see anything about all her symptoms that could indicate something?
Avatar m tn ve had migraines, severe neck pain, bad vision, and the last year has developed into extreme back pain, upper and lower, my hip feels like it will fall out of its socket and has been hurting so badly that I cant lie on my right side anymore and my shoulder on right side also severely painful. Been to many doctors who reported nerve pain, artheritis, but xrays show nothing! It is so discouraging and they discourage surgery because they can find nothing wrong.
Avatar f tn But 2 months ago, I had knee surgery, and was non weight bearing for those two months, I started having leg and hip pain that started during PT, and now has escalated to the point where walking and sitting are pure agony. I can only stay on my feet about 3-5 minutes before it's unbearable. It starts in my buttock, to the left of my tail bone and shoots all the way down my leg. it burns like it was set on fire.
335728 tn?1331414412 I was lying on my back on the couch and suddenly it seemed as though the pain was growing throughout my body and it was horrible. It moved down my legs and into my arms and my neck and the pain was about a 9 out of 10. When I went to bed it was not a restful night at all. It seemed that as the night progressed the pain moved to my left side and then down into my left hip. I couldn’t lie on my left side at all and could only lie on the right side for short periods of time.
Avatar n tn ve also noticed some discomfort and pressure on my right side above my hip bone and what feels like a lump of tissue right above my hip bone. It's not painful, but it's uncomfortable. Has anyone experienced any of these symptoms/any advice?
681148 tn?1437661591 briefly addresses a connection with Fibromyalgia and Hypermobility Syndrome, which often involves hip and shoulder dysplasia (also discussed separately in the book). He mentions a study in which 40% of pediatric patients with Fibro also had hypermobility. Another study showed hypermobility was more common among adult women with Fibro. So, I would say it's probably not uncommon at all. (I have no other percentages info).
Avatar m tn Now her hepatitis has become active in the year 2009 the Symptoms of pain through her joints and back have become far more severe, where as she only suffered with it in her hips in the very begining. Does anyone know if Hepatitis C has a reaction towards Fibromyalgia causing it to Flare up? It just seems a coincidence that in the year 2009 her Hepatitis C has become active, and after all these years her Fibromyalgia has become more severe, is the the Hepatitis causing it?
Avatar f tn I also have chronic neck, back and hip pain. This has been going on for a long time now, over a year. I just live with the pain. I am tired throughout the day. I cannot sleep at night. I was wondering if all of this could be due to fibromyalgia?
Avatar n tn This morning at 3 I woke up with a real uncomfortable pain in my right side of my hip well it went from my hip down to literally the bottom of my foot I figured she's just laying on a nerve and today she has been super active!
