Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue center

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I am a new patient of the Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center in Philadelphia, PA. You do have to pay for your visits and any treatments (e.g. IV) upfront and then the center gives you the appropriate diagnostic codes and information to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. My insurance company reimbursed me for some of it, but it is still rather expensive.

402205 tn?1230481005 I have never heard of the Fibromyalgia Centers of America, which isn't to say whether they are good or bad. I have been to one of Dr. Teitlebaum's Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Centers, which I would recommend because they are up-to-date with the causes of Fibromyalgia, a big one being chronic infections.
Avatar f tn t think that you are in immediate danger, but your extreme fatigue and Hashimotos thyroiditis are probably linked. Often in such cases chronic infections are involved. One product that should help with the fatigue is NTFactor (see NTFactor.com).
Avatar m tn Dustybrown is correct these are a lot of symptoms and sound a lot like fibromyalgia and possibly Chronic Fatigue. Have you talked to your family doctor? Also getting a referral to a rheumatologist to rule out things like lupus, arthritis and determine whether you have FM or CFS. I can't imagine dealing with all of these things on your own. Let us know how it all works out.
Avatar f tn I am starting to wonder if perhaps I have chronic fatigue syndrome and was wondering if this sounds likely from this group of symptoms, or if they suggest anything else and, if so, what.
1683690 tn?1308353392 I have read scientific articles discussing the correlation between depression and cfs, depression and fibromyalgia, fibromyalgia and cfs, and fibromyalgia and bipolar. It looks like there might some partial genetic overlap going on here. As science advances I know there will be more answers. If anyone has any input on this subject please post.
4942618 tn?1361331784 m wondering if there is a connection between the symptoms of Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatique with the Human Herpes Virus. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatique in my early 40's, but feel like I've been sick with it since I came down with Mono in college. Ever since then I've never felt the same. I've been sick all the time with anything and everything it seems.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia. I have been told by a rheumatologist and fibromyalgia specialist that I have chronic fatigue as well as painful fibromyalgia symptoms. Does this mean I have CFS. One doctor said chronic fatigue but not chronic fatigue 'syndrome'. He said it was significant because my fatigue and symptoms started after a viral infection. The other doctor said he felt Fibromyalgia was a spectrum disorder which included chronic fatigue. So do I have CFS as well as Fibromyalgia?
Avatar f tn I think it is awesome that this center is not only going to benefit people who have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but it will also benefit people with fibromyalgia, autism, atypical MS and if I remember right... multiple chemical sensitivities as well. For everyone here, please remember that this institute has already come up with a blood test to diagnose CFS. From what I've heard and understand, the test should be available in a year (hopefully FDA approved by then).
402205 tn?1230481005 m still taking my normal prescriptions that help with pain, fatigue and RLS as well as additional supplements. I have both CFS and Fibromyalgia. From the initial diagnosis it appears I have a problem with yeast and low thyroid. I'm a little scared because they told me it would get a little worse while my body detoxifies before it gets better but I guess it's a small price to pay.
598902 tn?1219887213 s leading experts on fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I think you are making a wise decision seeing him. I have problems with physicians who just prescribe Lyrica. And what really bites is that some of the physicians still don't even believe fibro is even real or that they rely on the pharmaceutical companies for their research and don't pay attention to other research. I have already included Dr.
Avatar n tn I have been told I have chronic fatigue by Harbor View Medical Center Chronic Fatigue Clinic in Seattle Wa. I have since aquired clinical deppression as a result of the extreme fatigue. My question is if it's posibile my illness stems from my empty sella? I had never felt the way do now until Ihad the surgry. I have had all the tests they could possibly think of ,all the antidepressants they make. For 8 1/2 years I've felt like I have the flu . /?????????????????????
Avatar n tn Various autoimmune issues come to mind: Epstein Barré Virus, Lyme's Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. There are others, of course you may wish to investigate. FYI: I know two people who have Lymes who were never bitten by ticks, so it can come about without ever getting bit by ticks. So, I wouldn't be quick to dismiss Lyme's Disease.
10059661 tn?1407565170 So where did these two new diseases come from? The symptoms and signs of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia were described in the literature in the 1930's as one way that low thyroid could be expressed." http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/david-derry.
Avatar n tn According to leading experts on Fribromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue such as Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D, "many studies have shown immune system dysfunction" in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue disorders. These include viral infections, bacterial infections, parasites and various bowel infections. Yeast overgrowth is the most important infection to treat for. Due to the initial infections, the immune system has been weakened.
Avatar m tn I myself have both Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. And most of the symptoms you are having sound like the symptoms I have. Here is a website you can go to, to learn more about Fibromyalgia http://www.fibromyalgia-symptoms.org/fibromyalgia_diagnosis.html If you decide to go to a doctor and ask them if you may have Fibromyalgia, going to a neurologist won't help, you have to go to a doctor that specializes specifically in Fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn I just wwant to know if this terrible fatigue and all over pain will go away soon, I am on pain meds and muscle relaxors and sleeping pills, that are not helping also my fusion is not coming along as fast as the surgeon thought it would Thanks bdm92
Avatar n tn There is no mention in any significant source about association of Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (BFS) and Fibromyalgia. There may be a possibility though, as some authorities claim a viral etiology (cause) for both these conditions. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn I am 46 years old and have a lot of leg pain and fatigue what might it be? sometimes it hurts so bad i cannot walk?
Avatar f tn I agree.. this is EXACTLY what we need. And I'm happy that this center is allocating funds and including other neuro-immune illnesses such as autism and atypical MS. If I remember right, they are also doing research on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.
Avatar f tn Hello~I would ask your doctor about fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, both can cause the brain fog. Fibro is diagnosed by pressing different "trigger points" I think chronic fatigue is diagnosed via blood work.
Avatar m tn chronic pain and fatigue is going to make ANYONE depressed. And if you've been living for this for - say - years (like I have). I couldn't agree more about the Lyme disease test. I also STRONGLY suggest that you get a sleep study which should be covered by your insurance company. Sleep apnea is a huge contributor to fibro symptoms. By now I'm sure you've read that current treatment is a combination of medications and lifestyle changes. Some folks are on complete disability.
Avatar n tn Chronic pain, Sleeplessness, Anxiety and Fatigue may be symptoms of Fibromyalgia or other conditions like Chronic Fatigue syndrome. There are many other conditions that mimic the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia is based on the presence of tender points. These tender spots are particularly located in the neck, back, shoulders and hips. There are 18 points on body for tenderness in patients of this condition.
