fetal non stress test during labor

Thanks ladies. When the doctor was telling us about the test she left out the movement part only saying the heartbeat, which sent him into a tailspin of planning to take off every appt. I appreciate the insight.

No. NST's are normal at this point. They just want to make sure they baby isn't having any issues. With my first I went 5 days passed due and had NSTs weekly from 38 weeks on. With #2 same thing only they didn't like what they saw the day before the due date and induced labor due to erratic fetal heart beat. She was and is totally fine and healthy though.

ve heard of playing with your nipples to bring on labor supposedly but not for the non-stress test. =) I have to start going when I hit 32 weeks but basically what it is they put a belt around your waist to monitor the baby's heart rate and you have to sit there for like 1/2 an hour. I had it done with my son and it's not bad just kinda boring sitting there.

non stress test is when they lay you on an exam table and strap on fetal monitures to the belly to moniture the baby's activity. i started mine at around 24 weeks. it usually took me 10-20 minutes but my 2 were super active and they got all the information they needed in that time. the tech told me some women were there for as long as 2-3 hours. so it all depends on your little bun and how active s/he is. if you have a good tech it's not so bad.

I have my fetal non stress tomorrow ... and of course I'm nervous. This pregnancy has had many ups n Downs. Failed first glucose test.. passed 2 barely. Fatigue .. depression ... etc.. sigh..I'm almost 32 weeks...

it is non-specific, and there are many causes of fetal stress that can cause the baby to pass meconium prior to birth. If an autopsy was permitted, this can sometimes give the answer to why a baby died suddenly.

A non-stress test is just where they hook you up to a fetal monitor and watch the baby's movements and heart rate for 30min to an hour. Nothing to it. I had to do one but it was because my blood pressure was elevated and had protein in my urine.

So I am 37 yrs old and had to do stress test on my last appt which I was 37 weeks and failed and was hooked up to machine for almost an hour so sent me to have ultrasound and baby seemed fine but I feel as if she isnt moving as much and I know towards the end they run out of room but im nervous any ideas this is my 3rd child

So I'm 37 weeks and yesterday I went for a non stress test because of decreased fetal movement. They told me that the baby was doing just fine her movements were perfectly ok but they were worried about my heart rate. They said it was over 130. And now I have to see dr at the end of the week to monitor it. Has anyone else had high heart rate? Does it effect the baby or labor?

Yea, it's a nst, non stress test. They are used to measure baby's heartbeat and reaction (they want to see a base line and then baby's heartrate spike up and come back down). You lay on a bed with 2 sensors on you. Very relaxing to listen to babies heartbeat actually. They are common for anyone with any type of complication, like high blood pressure, diabetes, being obese, having more than 1 baby, and the list goes on.

Hello All, I had my 30 week office visit today. Everything looked real good and the doctor is really pleased with how the pregnancy is progressing. She did state that she wants me to have a non-stress test for the baby in two weeks and then again 2 weeks after that. She said it's just a precaution b/c of my age (39) and my history of m/c's (3 of them). Has anybody else had the non-stress tests done??

Um 40 +2. I went for post dates testing today and after the non stress fetal assesment the nurse asked "did you feel any of those contractions??" I said no, she said well good for you. Apparently within the 25-30 minute test I had 6. Did anyone else have contractions and have no idea? I'm starting to think what if I go into labor and don't know because I don't notice the contractions.

It's called a non stress test or NST and the person should not have been confused. If a dr office doesn't offer NSTs then labor and delivery does. It is necessary.

Has anybody else been sent for a non stress test ? I go tommrow my blood pressure was a Lil high this week and runs in my family so iam getting sent for this test iam a Lil nervous about it.

A stress test or a non stress test? Because they are different a non stress test is just a monitor that they put on you to measure the babies movements. A stress test actually induced contractions and is used to see how baby reacts, like if there is movement or if there is a drop in heart rate.

Just wondering if there are any women who have been considered high risk who had to do regular non-stress tests? I will soon begin my weekly tests and haven't found out where I have to go for them. My son passed away one year ago in the OB unit of the hospital and I haven't been in the unit since. A bit of a fresh wound yet that being there will open. 85 days to go! Baby Damon will be born at 37wk 6 days on June 1st!

Had anyone had a bad non stress test. I got news today that my baby girl is not moving like she should. Her heart rate us low and the Dr said I need to keep and eye on her movements. Said if they don't pick up I have to call them and see what they want to do. I'm scared for my baby girl now I want her to be happy and healthy.

She gets sweating wlile walking app 200m distence for last 5-6 years. so her stress test was done. baseline ECG is normal. On Bruce protocol she could walk for upto 2 min on treadmill. There were no ECG changes during test, but during recovery phase she developed ST depression with T inversion in II, III, AVF , I, aVL and V2 to V6 for 10 min. She was not having chest pain at that time. She is undergoing Cor angio shortly. What is the probability that she can have Triple vessel disease?
