Avatar f tn Breathing in the Womb Babies do not actually breathe in the womb---at least, not in the usual sense. Fetal lungs are not fully functional, and are not even able to fully expand, until after birth. During the later stages of gestation, the fetus may "practice" breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid. The fetal lungs do not process the amniotic fluid, the way fully formed lungs process air, but experts believe this "breathing" is important to fetal lung development.
Avatar f tn I can tell you, From experience that a baby's heart is fully developed by week 18, which is why doctors do fetal echos between 18-24 weeks, it's the soonest they can visualize the heart without the bones getting in the way or "shadowing" it, and also the latest for them to detect holes and other issues. There are many cases when a baby has a hole or two early on and as the baby grows and the heart continues to grow the holes close or get smaller on their own.
Avatar f tn 20 mm Fetal heart rate: 164 bpm, the other one is 33,7 X 18,4 Fetal length: 16,7 mm Yolk Sac: 5,9 mm Fetal heart rate: 166 bpm Also embryon1 age is 10w3d but embryon 2 is 9w2d. I'm very concerned. Are those differences ok? The next ultrasound is in 10 days and the wait is killing me.

For men it helps with adequate levels of testosterone and sperm counts. Research has shown with 15 mgs a day in men it can increase semen and testosterone production, in women it can help ovulation and fertility. Natural resources of Zinc are fish, oysters, crab, turkey, chicken and beef.
Avatar n tn If you break embryonic and fetal development into thirds then when you are in your 28th week the baby begins its final third of development. (Gestation is 266 days or 38 weeks of development). So either way you look at it you are in your 3rd trimester!

Avatar f tn next thursday they repeat the ultrasoundso by then i will be 7wks 5days by then so fingers crossed and prayers all is well and i hear my babys little heart xxx
Avatar n tn Usually the 5th week you will see the gestational sac but maybe no fetal pole. By week 6-7 you should see the fetal pole and if you're lucky a heartbeat. By week 8 you should get a heartbeat. So if you are only 5 weeks it sounds like your development is very good seeing both a fetal pole and hb. Did he mention what the heartrate was?? I am not sure what the "likely" fetal pole means because if there is a heartbeat then there is definitely a fetal pole there!!
Avatar f tn The fetal brain may create these cysts as a normal part of development. They are temporary and usually are gone by the 32nd week of pregnancy.
Avatar n tn But more importantly, once she does become pregnant, low thyroid hormones will definitely impact the developing fetus. The earliest stages of fetal development is the time when it is most critical for the mother to have sufficient thyroid hormone. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24015847 "Conclusion: Early TH [thyroid hormone] insufficiency from maternal hypothyroidism affects offspring hippocampal development and memory.
Avatar f tn Im 18 week+5 days and i still cant tell the difference between gas bubbles and movment :(
Avatar n tn C appt is available before next Frid should I try to take it? I have another stressful week coming next week. Could more or less rest between now and next Thurs affect anything?
Avatar f tn I heard as early as 14 wks but the probability goes up if you wait longer. Do you not have a fetal photo or sneak peak ultrasound around you? They'll tell you.

Avatar f tn i have booked a private scan at 10 weeks cos i seriously cant wait to find out if baby is okay. did anyone else worry in the early stages and get an early scan? i only had three weeks of mild nausea and food aversion now i feel fine at 10 weeks so i get worried something is wrong. my boobs are still tender but thats really it.
Avatar f tn From wikipedia- During embryological development, some fetuses may form choroid plexus cysts. These fluid-filled cysts can be detected by a level II ultrasound (18–20 weeks gestation). The finding is relatively common, with a prevalence of ~1%. Choroid plexus cysts (CPC) can be an isolated finding, which confers a 1% (variable based on population studied) risk of fetal aneuploidy. The risk of aneuploidy increases to 10.5-12% if other risk factors or ultrasound findings are noted.
Avatar f tn The baby only measured 1cm which from my research isnt as big as most are this far long however Im not panicking about that as Ive been told all fetal development is different. Ive also taken some comfort in how nauseated ive been which to me is a good sign, but not so fun! So as of now I am relaxed and excited!!
Avatar f tn I quit smoking cigarettes and weed the minute I found out but I am concerned about fetal development since I found out after the fact. Thanks again for your insight.
800427 tn?1324945719 If you take 40 weeks divided by 3 you get 13.3 weeks. So, I think, by the time you end your 13th week, you should be consider in your 2nd trimester. :) Most people still use 12 weeks, but that only takes you to 36 weeks and a pregnancy, usually as you know, is 40 weeks. :) Not sure if this helped or not, but it's the only way it makes sense to me.
Avatar f tn Sounds like the growth of baby is progressing normally, the only thing I hadnt heard of either was the "tail". Below is a complicated quote that mentions the growth and then regression of the "tail" during early fetal development. Do you have a follow-up US to monitor things? Your HCG levels and observation of HB are very encouraging. "the rostral neuropore closes and develops into the forebrain prominence and then the head.
Avatar f tn Your Baby is still in the early stages of fetal development, & his or her bones/muscles are not strong enough to be noticeable quite yet. I thought maybe i had felt some around this time to but, turns out it was my own heart beating in my belly due to extra blood flow. I hate to sound discouraging :( You will however feel them between 18-20 weeks if you are a first time mom so, you really don't have to wait much longer!! The feeling is unmistakable :) hope this helps, goodluck!
Avatar m tn Puberty occurs in two separate stages, genital (penis and testicle) development and pubic hair development. We number each of these stages 1-5, 1 being child and 5 being adult. That means 2-3-4 are the stages of puberty. Depending on your development, a number is assigned to genital development (G) and a number is assigned to pubic hair development (P). For example, if you have just started growing hair you might be stage P2. It's possible to be P2 and still be G1.
