Common Questions and Answers about Fetal development heartbeat weeks

fetal-development

Avatar f tn Second ultrasound at 8w 6d showed gestational sac, yolk sac, and fetal pole measuring 5 1/2 weeks, but no heartbeat. I'm scheduled for a third ultrasound next wed, which would be 10weeks, and if there's no hb, it's over Is this possible - to be almost 3 weeks behind? My dates can't be that far off! Also, my doc did the 2 ultrasounds in the office, but gave me the option to have the 3rd at the hospital. Is there any benefit to that, vs having my doc do it?
Avatar f tn I'm 22 weeks, this is my 4th pregnancy...2nd baby to make it past 8 weeks. Doctors where I live don't recommend u/s before 10 weeks to detect heartbeat because they are not accurate enough.good luck...
Avatar n tn It sounds like he saw the fetal pole and heartbeat by u/s so in that sense you are in good shape and seeing what you are supposed to be seeing. Usually the 5th week you will see the gestational sac but maybe no fetal pole. By week 6-7 you should see the fetal pole and if you're lucky a heartbeat. By week 8 you should get a heartbeat. So if you are only 5 weeks it sounds like your development is very good seeing both a fetal pole and hb. Did he mention what the heartrate was??
Avatar n tn 2010 my HCG read 2,000 and a sac and fetal pole together with fluttering fetal heartbeat (!) could be seen on a transvaginal ultrasound. I was pretty sure on that day I was 6 weeks and 1 day, however, the doctor said the size of the sac and the rate of the heartbeat was more like that of aprrox. 5 weeks. I am scheduled for another scan in 2 weeks but am, of course, worried waiting.
7620634 tn?1392949593 Im aldo measuring behind and they are monitoring fetal development.... (I'm 27 werks)... they don't do that for everybody..BUT since this time around I have lakes of blood in my placenta and high blood pressure (both are associated with low birth weight) they want to make sure my baby girl is growing at the rate she should be... ive measured 5 days smaller from the beginning...
Avatar m tn Depending on the quality of the machines and if you are earlier than you think, it's very possible. Some people don't see a fetal pole or heartbeat until 7,8, or 9 weeks. I didn't see any of mine until I was 7 weeks and a few days along. Have they scheduled another appointment or done blood work to see if your levels are rising? Another ultrasound would show if there's fetal development and if the pregnancy is viable or not.
Avatar f tn I got a bfp on thursday with beta of 151. I went for my second beta today and it was 695. They scheduled an ultrasound next week and I should be 5 1/2 wks. Would my beta go up if there was not a fetal pole? Also, a little concerned that we won't be able to see a heartbeat.
Avatar f tn Thank you that helps alot
951328 tn?1246371912 The doctor said that the fetal pole and other parts may appear within next 3 weeks. But i am little bit worried. Note: I have a history of irregular periods. My Last period was on 26th march 2009. Will everything in this pregnancy be normal?
Avatar f tn The ultrasound showed a gestational sac, a yolk but not much more. And no heartbeat. It measured around 5 weeks. So I was scheduled another ultrasound today I should be 8 to 9 weeks since lmp we seen a larger sac, about 8 weeks 3 days, a shadow of a yolk sac, but nothing else. No heartbeat. No signs of a fetus or fetal pole. After the first ultrasound, I was told there was not enough development to determine viability. Again, 10 days later, same story, but sac growth.
Avatar f tn in the afternoon she did the ultrasound again for the heartbeat which she saying that its very low n fetal development is slow as it show that its 5 weeks 6 days n she said its not possible that our measurement is wrong so for sure its going towards miscarriage n she said we have to monitor your body till there is a heartbeat as i have no spotting or bleeding yet.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I had a trans vaginal scan done at 7w1d. It showed a fetal pole and a sac measuring 6 weeks. But no heart beat!!!! I know when I conceived... I was charting, using ovulation predictor kits and my hubby was working double shifts so we just did the deed when I got the positive. I started with good hcg levels, but low progesterone. So I was put on Crinone suppositories. I had no bleeding until the day before my scan. I had an orgasm and bled bright red for a very short time.
Avatar f tn I went for a fetal echocardiogram at 20 weeks (now I'm at 24 weeks) to check the development of the babys heart as my mom has a heart condition called Hypotrophic Cardio Myopathy. Since its a genetic condition, we were advised to make this appointment. I wonder if its recommended for others even without family history of a specific condition. I personally would want to check the development of my baby's heart regardless.
1361098 tn?1277606278 With my 3rd pregnancy I spotted from 6 weeks to 15 weeks and my son is now 8. Also they were not able to see a heartbeat until 6w5d with him so I would make sure you get a repeat ultrasound if they dont see anything yet. Dont count yourself out, things can still be ok even with spotting. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn i was asked to come back in two weeks for a viability scan and see if the yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat are all there. whew!!!! two weeks is too long for me to wait! i can hardly sleep now and i feel like the pregnancy symptoms are beginning to go away..i am getting paranoid i guess. HELP!
Avatar f tn You can order a fetal doppler online to listen to your babys heartbeat whenever you want to.
1133565 tn?1261315212 i went for my first scan 2 days ago where i found out i was 6 weeks and 4 days. the docter never told me the rate of the heartbeat but did show me on the screen. 'my baby' measured 8mm at this stage is that normal? because ev everyone im speaking to says it is far too big and should be around 5mm.
458967 tn?1268486055 it's too early to see the heartbeat.. At least 6 weeks or so... Just relax and wait until the 20th... when i did my u/s close to 7 weeks.. the doctor rarely saw the heartbeat... I came back a week after then there is a heartbeat... don't think too much.. will harm the baby...whatever you feel (sad, happy, depress, scare) will harm the development of the baby.. so just think happy..
Avatar n tn 6 weeks may be a bit early to hear a heartbeat. Did they see a yolk sac and fetal pole? Generally heartbeats can be heard around 10 or so weeks depending how good the machine the doctors are using.
Avatar f tn would at least be able to find a sac, and they might or may not see a heartbeat. Some girls you dont get a heartbeat until 8 weeks. Did the Dr. tell you to be worried?
Avatar f tn It can be too early. At 6 weeks all they could see for me was the fetal pole and yolk sac. It is still very early, did they book another ultrasound or bloodwork?
1318881 tn?1274460011 By now you may be able to see the heartbeat and a little bean. I was 6 weeks 5 days when I went to my OB and was able to hear and see the heart beating. Good luck, I hope it all goes well.
Avatar n tn im just wondering because usually the gestational sac can be seen at approx 5 weeks, the yolk sac appears at approx. 5.5-6 weeks, fetal pole is around the 5.5 -6.5 weeks and the heartbeat at 6.5-7 weeks... Im just wondering if you are counting from the fetal age(from conception) not the gestational age(from first day of last period) as there is about a 2 week difference... so im thinking that your gestational age would be 6 weeks 4 days which would make more sense for the timeline....
Avatar f tn Normally a gestational sac with a yolk sac appears at about 5 weeks (calculated from your last missed period date) of pregnancy and can be well visualized by 6 weeks on a transvaginal (through a vagina) ultrasound (so it can be missed at 5 weeks), when you can see a fetal pole too. Fetal heart beat usually appears by 8-9 weeks. This is why it is best to repeat the scan a week or two later. At times the sac appears but there is no baby inside. This is called blighted ovum.
545877 tn?1251117034 perfectly normal and quite common. Some people don't see the heartbeat until 8 weeks.
Avatar f tn When I was exactly 6 weeks I saw the little round till and heard the heartbeat. At 7 weeks they should have seen an embryo. Especially since you saw development the prior week. The baby might have stopped growinhand absorbed into the uterine wall. I had that happen to me with our 4th pregnancy. I hope I'm wrong and they see something next time. Do you have a follow up?
