Avatar f tn I think that you may experience more intense withdrawal symptoms when you stop the Oxy. By still taking the Oxy, it has kept the symptoms from being too severe. Certainly, it is better to quit one drug at a time. You said that you were going to talk to your doctor about tapering the Oxy. Hopefully, he will support you in that. When do you see him? Try getting outside for a walk every days this will help you with the fatigue. Take care, and let us know how it goes with the doctor.
Avatar f tn t have any choice as I had begun experiencing serious side effects (that could have killed me) from the patch (I also was on 50mcg), so I HAD to stop cold turkey. Even though my doctor switched me to another narcotic, the withdrawal from the fentanyl was horrible. Fortunately, I was already in the hospital, so they were able to really watch me closely and give me some medications to help, but it definitely was not pleasant.
Avatar n tn One of the biggest complaints with fentanyl withdrawal is the powerful hot flashes and cold sweats. It happens if you're either over- or under-medicated. This happens when withdrawing from any kind of opiate, but fentanyl seems to make it even worse. Other symptoms include nausea/ vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, restless leg syndrome and muscle cramps, generalized pain throughout the body, and terrible insomnia.
Avatar m tn My guess would be it is the withdrawal of the Fentanyl. You must have really gradually reduced your dosage. Your symptoms sound uncomfortable but not terribly unbearable and I know people who went off it CT and it was very, very unpleasant. For sleep, try Alteril, it's an all-natural product and it contains Valerian Root and melatonin and some other all natural ingredients. Valerian Root can also be taken separately if you're having anxiety. They work great.
Avatar m tn re still in the acute withdrawal stage judging by your symptoms. The patch is wearing off on the 3rd day so you go into withdrawal. PAWS is diagnosed when withdrawal symptoms are still present months after actual detox. Thankfully, it doesn't happen to everyone. I'm not surprised you're experiencing withdrawal with that large of a decrease in fentanyl. That's a BIG drop and it's going to take time for your body, and more importantly, your brain to adjust.
Avatar m tn How long does withdrawal last? I have been on fentanyl for about one year, 100 every 48 hrs. This was prescribed for me after my cancer surgery.
Avatar f tn But I think the Fentanyl may be covering the hydrocodone withdrawal. Fentanyl is very strong and the withdrawals can be long and difficult. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones but it's possible that 'it just hasn't hit you yet. I found the first few drops of the Fentanyl were easy but the lower I got the harder it became. I hope you can escape them and find a way to manage your pain.
Avatar f tn I started Fentanyl in May and it has been extremely helpful for me. The goal of a medication is to reduce your pain enough so that you can function more and do more for yourself, and friends and family. If the hydrocodone left you suffering in pain most of the time and unable to do things, the fentanyl should definitely be much stronger and should help you have a more normal life. On the flip side, you don't want to be so drugged that you don't do anything either.
Avatar f tn Right now I am very uncomfortable, tired- the usual withdrawal symptoms but I hope and pray that I can come out the other side like some of the other people on this site.
Avatar n tn about 2 weeks ago had no oxy left snd i tried to avoid withdrawal with fentanyl patches. 2 of 100 and 1 of 50 but after the simptoms of w/d ended i took them of and put another when simptoms started and so on till this mondey when i finished all the patches i had. monday i had a hard w/d but sedate my self with xanax valium and carmabazepine i got on prescription. yesterday i felt better but i made in fentanyl iv with 10% of an old patch i used only 12 hours and today same.
Avatar f tn I am on 200 mcg fentanyl patches X 48 hours. Due to the hot sticky weather, an allergy to adhesive overlays and sweating caused by a systemic staph infection infection my patches are not sticking at all to me. They do however stick to clothing, sheets, the floor and each other very well. I replaced a few at times because I needed some help with the pain (end stage osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, RA and systemic lupus.
Avatar n tn If you are experiencing those withdrawal symptoms now you should most likely bite that bullet and stop the fentanyl. Like worried said - your Doc can fix you up with some things to make it more comfortable. Fentanyl is a ferociuos withdrawal - but its not as long as methadone or sub or tramadol.........
Avatar n tn Dear friend, I feel your pain and I'm wondering if or what someone will tell you on a comment back. Only one person was kind to comment back to my post. If you are in the fentanyl patch and I was on that too about 5 years ago, but it burned my skin, so they put me on morphine er, I was taking 60mg twice daily and had 100 of the 15mg fast acting morphine and that was not helping me anymore.
526311 tn?1229286330 anyway since I started taking the drugs the day after my last fix, I havnt felt a single withdrawal symptom, except diarea. So my question is are these drug just masking the symptoms and when they're out and I gonna withdrawal again for them?
Avatar f tn Hi Marilyn, I was on Tramadol for 4 years before being switched to stronger medicines. How long have you been taking the Tramadol? My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However...
Avatar f tn Anyway i took my patch off while i was sick and then ended up having horrible withdrawal symptoms from it. I didnt think it would be THAT bad due to being on it such short period of time. I was wrong. I didnt want to put the patch bach on cuz i wanted to go ahead and get the withdrawal over with now and not go back on them. Needless to say it got to a point i couldnt continue to manage with my hydrocodone and not run out. So i went to the ER with sever withdrawal symptoms after about day 5.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms definitely sound like withdrawal from the fentanyl patch. fentanyl is a very powerful drug and can have some pretty severe side effects and sudden withdrawal from it can cause horrific symptoms.
Avatar n tn Fentanyl withdrawal can be very difficult. Call your doctor. They may be able to give you something that will make it a little easier. It's always best to talk to the doctor before stopping a medication so you can experience the least side effects possible.
