Avatar f tn Is there a chart that I can use to convert fentanyl patch strength to the Opana Er strength?
601891 tn?1238510452 I have recently had back surgery for my second spinal cord stimulator which is a huge success. Due to health insurance garbage after using the fentanyl patch for over 8 years my monthly cost has risen from $7 a month to approx $500 a month starting May. I am now on a detox program through my Dr. Now due to the cost of cigarettes I am trying to quit smoking. This is so unbelieveable that all of this is happening at once to me.
874891 tn?1240432420 Addicted to Fentanyl patches , wondering how long i have to be in withdraws before starting suboxzone. Can I take clondine while in withdraws, any advice apperciated.
2198240 tn?1338546163 If changing the patch more frequency and an increase in patch strength is inefficient, typically the next step is to increase the strength of your instant release medication.
Avatar f tn Yeah, Fentanyl is a tough bast#$% to come off but you were on a very low dose so it should not be so bad. It takes a little longer for the withdrawals because Fentanyl stays in your system so long. Figure at least 7 days for you to start to feel better. I had points during the 5 and 6 day where I felt half way normal. I made sure to get outside. I hate to say this but tomorrow is going to be worse. It took a good 24-36 hours before I was in serious withdrawal.
Avatar m tn s problem, and hope someone can offer us advice, she was prescribed 25mg fentanyl in 2006 for pain from a spinal injury and gradually since then her patch strength has been increased as her condition worsened until she is now prescribed 200mg fentanyl, plus she has oramorph and diazepam on her repeat prescription for breakthrough pain, However during the last two months through sheer grit she has managed to decrease her patch strength without her specialist's help (he told us both last year
7157762 tn?1390862911 To do so requires an unbelievable amount of devotion and inner strength--both of which you have plentiful amounts. You did battle with fentanyl, fought and struggled hard, and in the end--YOU WON! D., I really want you to understand the strength that you have shown has given me--and others--so much hope. We hear about a lot about the failures and relapses, but not nearly often enough about the triumphs. YOU are an amazing person, my dear!!!
Avatar f tn Of course, there is cross tolerance but once you get that far up in strength via fentanyl, you are still more than likely going to require larger doses than normal of morphine, oxymorphone, oxycontin, etc. There is also an option to ADD another long acting medication in with the fentanyl. This has been done for other members here that have an extremely high opioid tolerance. So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working.
Avatar f tn I don't think stopping the morphine will be too tough a battle for you considering how you've been doing so far. The only way you'll know is to start dropping it - and if at all possible, quit entirely. You might have a few uncomfortable days but probably not anything you can't handle. Sometimes we overthink this stuff and then that thought alone keeps us from moving forward. You've gained so much strength lately so TRUST that strength!! Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn That is the major accomplishment to start and from there, it takes even more strength to do this. Build that mental strength, get as much support as you can, in any way you can, even if you have to join a group. I will be honest to say, this is a very hard devil to clean your system out of BUT IT CAN BE DONE! Research people on line who have gone through this. Educate yourself on building your health back up again.
Avatar f tn 25 mcg/hr is often the starter dose of Fentanyl. They do make 12.5 mcg/hr patches that contain 12 mcg/hr Fentanyl but this lower dose is fairly new. I am also on the Fentanyl patch, dosed at 50 mcg/hr. I take 10 mg oxycodone IR as needed for breakthrough pain. So another thing to assess is if your pain level is consistently high throughout the day or if it is only high during certain periods of the day.
5204799 tn?1365456784 Hey Paige! Just wanted to toss my two cents in here. I understand your fear of going sick. That said, like the above posters, I would seriously reconsider going on a Fentanyl patch. It will make your return to Norcos and your intended taper that much more difficult. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic that stores quickly in your tissues and yes if you're already opiate tolerant a month on the patch will very likely raise your tolerance. It is a whole different animal to come off of.
Avatar f tn I took off my last patch on November 5th. I was on Fentanyl for 2 years at 100mcg/72 hours. I do not know for sure but am thinking that at some point I will begin to sleep. At day 20 clean and sober I am only able to rest for awhile(2 hours at a time and I never really get to sleep-the pain in my body is increasing.......any responses are appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn i came off Fentanyl a few weeks ago and I am ready to come off the percs (I was on both). I think that the Fentanyl is all out of my system so its time. I am a little freaked because the Fentanyl withdrawal was so recent and terrible but its time. Any words of encouragement? I could sure use it.
Avatar m tn Here I am 4 years later and am still taking 4 or 5 200 strength and 2 400 strength a day. Of course I have become more tolerant over time and it takes more to feel better. I just had to have all my teeth pulled due to radiation affects over time. Now I really don't have that much pain. I would like to either get off this stuff totally or at least lower the amount I take. They have been a crutch now and my doctor is threatening to stop prescribing the drugs.
Avatar f tn Fentanyl is hard to come off, even if you taper it. I don't think Tramadol will help much, and that drug comes with its own demons. Even if you're not an addict, you are dependent, andI would suggest checking out the Substance Abuse forum as it has lots of tips on what helps withdrawal symptoms. I'd be surprised if you came away with none. The Clonidine will help with some withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Ehlers Dan Los Syndrome  a bit over 2 years ago. It causes reacuring dislocations. Mostly in my right hip and knee. And constant strains of ligaments and tendons. Both of which obviously cause extreme pain. and makes it so i now am in a wheelchair. Right now I'm on oxycodone 5mg tablets. They don't work what so ever for my pain. I've been doing research and many of the people with my disorder are on the fentanyl patch.
Avatar m tn I read about this and remember when I quit Fentanyl. Fentanyl did me so much damage, it almost killed me. I went cold turkey which is difficult but worth the result. Keeping you mind strong that you need to get control of you mind and body and not the drugs is the most important focus. You will feel much better once the drug is out of you system and you will be able to think clearer. Keep the advise mentioned here and stay on top of vitamins.
5410312 tn?1367531622 I was on Fentanyl 50 mcg for almost one full month. I just could not wake up in the morning. Once i did, my adrenaline got me going, but it was a night of 10-12 hours of sleep. I am a juv. diabetic for 40 years. I have adhesive capsulitis. Diagnosed only after unsuccessful shoulder surgeries diagnosed as torn cuffs. I had been on norco for 3 years, and then percocet for the last 2 years. The constant IR made me feel like trying an ER product. My selerium was changed from patch to 20mg.
Avatar m tn Well, as one could imagine over the years my doses have turned from viodic, to oxycodone to fentanyl patches and oxycodone. Now I have beeen taking 15 patches of 100 mcg of the patch and 300 5mg tabs of oxycodone because of supposed arthritis in my back.. Now I am wanting off of these meds for good, My back pain still feels very real as I am now day 6 into my last patch and ocycodone pill. I went to the ER two nights ago because I feet so bad coming off of those drugs. What can I do.
Avatar f tn Who else out there has or is using Fentanyl narcotic patches? My withdrawals have been horrible. I was using them for about 18 months @ 50 mg. Changing them every three days. I stopped using them 11 days ago and switched to just Percocet and I then put myself on a three week tapering off plan. I plan to be narcotic free my September 15th!
374225 tn?1269899262 Thanks for this. The doctor weened me off methadone onto Fentanyl and I discovered that Fentanly makes me feel like I'm in withdrawal. So now... I'm tapering off the Fentanyl. I've been on pain medicine for so long it barely works and I think I'm sick of being dependant. This Fentanyl taper is driving me nuts now. Advil and Flexaril to the rescue forevemore!!! Of course I'm doing that thanks to 3 cortizone injections 10 days ago at L3-L4, L4-L5, and S1.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I find it strange that you reject both the 12 and 25 patches. perhaps you prefer pills. I've been on both of those strength patches in the past and there isn't much difference between them side effects wise(nor strength wise). I find it highly unlikely that the 12 is useless and the 25 is too much. besides, we can't expect everything to be perfect. It just isn't realistic. I don't think you are over your addiction.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl patches come in different strengths I think all the way to 12.5 and up. They are a stronger med but controlled release.
Avatar n tn Ruby would you mind informing us of the type of pain that caused your Doctor to put you on the Fentanyl Patches as well as what strength you were on? Knowing what your diagnosis is and how long you have had this diagnosis would be of help. :) I'm on the Fentanyl Patches. The strength that I'm onis 87mcg's. Did you have anything for your BT (Breakthrough) Pain? I've been prescribed Percocet 10/325 3 times a day.
6815927 tn?1395511425 Thanks!!!! I flushed the oxy last week in a moment of strength. I have a harder time controlling myself with those than I do the fentanyl. With the fentanyl, I don't get a buzz and the results take 6-12 hrs so it is easy to not abuse. (Just a nasty drug in general.). With the oxy around it is easy to feel like crap and pop a few to feel better, toooo easy . So, I decided that it was time to get rid of those and now they are gone!
Avatar f tn My PvP prescribed Fentanyl 12.5 patch. I've been taking 7-9 vicodin 10/325 for the last 6 months but it doesn't work very well and I started having stomach pain from taking too much. I started on the patch yesterday but am still having quite a bit of pain and am taking Vicodin for breakthrough pain . I emailed my PvP to see if it would make sense to up the dose but all she said in her reply email is that she wants to wait at least a week before we up the dose.
