Fentanyl pops

Common Questions and Answers about Fentanyl pops

actiq

I too have been thru the worst Fentanyl can dish out. Last March I was using the Fentanyl Lolipops, and was up to 1600mcgs a day! I stopped c/t, and went to a 25 mcg patch. I was puking shaking, sweating, cramping, vomiting,(out of both openings, including the back). It was pure hell on earth. I just recently went up to the 50mcg patch for 1 month, and now went back down. I wasn't expecting it to be this nasty. But I at least know what to expect. I think I am thru the worst.
But I noticed that these are only the days when I am close to being out of my medicine, Actiq or fentanyl lolli-pops! They were a God send at first but over 5 years later, more than 50 surgeries to replace my urinary tract and my "man plumbing". I have had a supra pubic cath, a couple of urinary stints in the ureter and I could go on and on. I am now taking up to 10 - 1600mcg of the fentanyl lolli-pops, the max dose that lately doesn't work as well. This is the max dose, then what?
I have taken almost every type of pain medication Fetanyl pops, Oxycontin, Dilaudid, etc. At first; I was prescribed for a very minor injury at the age of 19 (way over prescribed) when I hurt my back at work. I had never heard of painkillers at the time and never had done drugs. Well slowly I got very addicted to the pills and started buying them on the street and stopped attending college after getting my two year degree. After moving to Florida I decided to change my life.
One of the most common questions that pops up here is from people who have difficulty keeping the fentanyl patch in place. Lost and ruined patches can be a terrible problem for both the patient and the doctor. We all know early refills of any pain medication are problematic no matter what the reason. I have used the Nexcare brand bandages for years as covers for the fentanyl patch. They were the only bandages that kept the patch in place for the full 3 days.
I looked into Rapid Detox and was told it will not work for Methadone because it is stored in the fatty tissue of the body, I was told by the Doctor at the Clinic to use the Fentanyl 125 for two months, than the Rapid Detox can remove the Fentanyl. I have been off Methadone 130 for 18 days and with the Fentanyl I'm not having severe w/d, however I do have some, mostly extreme fatigue.
Am off Fentanyl pops for over a year, now stuck on 12=16mg of ativan a day. WTF am I doing?
I know exactly what you're going through. Luckily for me, my Doc got me hooked up with a compounding pharmacy who makes the pops for me....They are reasonably priced. That's the option I would pursue first. Chances are if you've been taking fentanyl for this long, not much else will work. Best of luck to you.
Sudden pain I use Actiq, Fentanyl Citrate Lolly-pops but those are typically reserved for terminal cancer patients, I use them off-label. There is another med, Fentura (sp?), a fizzy disolving in mouth pill of fentanyl.
Hi. im on the fentanyl patch and i think it works good and dont give me the realy druged up feeling like a lot of pills. For B/T pain i take norco 10/325 2x3 or 4 a day.
Not that I am aware of, especially for surgical pain. If there really were a medicine that was as effective as opiates for pain, opiates would be rarely used within the medical community due to the stigma attached to them. You could try a google search on, "surgery without opiates or opioids" or "surgery on those with an allergy to opioids" to see if anything interesting pops up.
Hi everyone! I detoxed off (mainly) opium and (sometimes) fentanyl pops recently (37 days clean) and I guess I am doing ok - no withdrawals anymore, can finally sleep. Exercising at least 5 days a week... Still I am not doing this because I want to, but because I know that's the fastest way to "reboot" my brain. I drag my butt, I struggle to complete my workouts, struggle to do anything that takes some strength... Does anyone know how long this awful fatigue lasts?
I do not believe fentanyl was an option at that time. Fentanyl also comes in IV form if you are with hospice or in the hospital. Fentanyl is close to 100 times stronger at pain relief than morphine. It works well with few side effects. The worst side effect personally is the constipation. I take 2 docusate sodium tabs 100MG two times a day and it seems to counteract the side effect. I hope that helps and God bless all of the women and men that are enduring this awful disease.
You need to get down to the reason why your doctor won't put you back on the Fentanyl patches especially since the covers were being sent to you by your pharmaceutical company. Go see your hepatologist like JayBay said to get the all clear that Fentanyl is okay to use for your pain. There shouldn't be anything extra special about the Fentanyl and how it is metabolized by the liver than the other opioid medications as all opioid medications are metabolized by the liver.
The w/d will be around to some extent until I make the next taper, which will be the end of fentanyl for me. I HATE IT!! oops...you probably guessed that, huh?? lol I feel bad but I don't know anyone here. All new names. I don't think I'll ever catch of with everyone. At least I made it to the forum and I got a reply from you, which means a lot. You take care please....hugs....
ok so I finally got the results of my MRI... There is nothing wrong with my back according to it.. But I know my body... And there is something going on.... There is so much pressure in one certain part of my back.. I know what a pinched sciatica feel's like, and this is not it... Everytime I move, if my back pops and everything feel's like it shifts "downward" then I get more and more pressure.... It just hurts so bad.. I am still on pain meds and getting no relief..
Today I was alone with Fentanyl pops 12 inches away from me and I didn't come close. It really felt like a breakthrough. Usually I feel like I'm gonna have a stroke if I don't give in in a situation like that. And I have always lost that kinda battle in the past. You can do it too. Hope to see tou still postin good updates when I get home from vacation. And fix that lamp by then huh? Take care of yourself.
I have more spurs in my cervical area and lumbar area and mild scolosis now. Because of the extent of my pain I now have the fentanyl pump. Whenever I reach or stretch upward I end up with spasms from top to bottom including my feet. The bottom and across the top of my feet, both of them. I have tried for the past 5 years to get a doctor to tell me they would try to do something for me.
There are also ultra short acting medicines that contain the pain medicine, Fentanyl. Actiq lollipops work very quickly and provide potent relief of BT pain. Not sure if you have tried Opana (oxymorphone) yet but based on pharmacology, it is a little stronger than Dilaudid (hydromorphone) mg to mg. I am on 30 mg of Opana ER twice a day. They do have Opana in immediate release form.
The Fentanyl is 80x stronger than Morphine and the discomfort you felt was the side effects of the Fentanyl. I know because I have been there. The Fentanyl will over power the Morphine and you are not having the w/d you think you are having. Has your Doctor offered to increase the strengh of the patch? In most cases the Doctor will do so if the Patch is not working right of the get go. Maybe he might want to consider a 50mcg patch or go to changing it every 48 hrs.
Someone who mainlines a gram of heroin every 16 hours is going to have it a LOT worse then someone who pops a few Lortab every day.. *) HOW OFTEN were you taking the drugs? Again, if you made opiated bliss a full-time job, then you're going to have it a little harder then the occasional pill poper.. *) WHAT were you taking? If you liked to take codeine every day, you will probably suffer a little less then someone whos drug of choice was black tar..
My brother is killing himself with this dam methadone and fentanyl. No one else in my family wants to help me they are all either fed up or in denial. Have been researching it a bit I know I need to have rehab info and everything ready for him if he agrees to it. Any help would be great im not going to watch him die.
Or the doctor could give you a low dose oxycodone without the tylenol, like 5 or 10 mg tablets. Some doctors prescribe a quick acting med like oxyfast or fentanyl pops for patients whose worst pain is first thing in the morning. If you have a legitimate need for the painkillers the doctors could manage it better, giving you safer medicines and probably controlling it better without having to increase actual dosage that much.. Good luck in dealing with your pain.
I have been on every drug, and the only ones that touch the pain are morphine, fentanyl, tramadol etc. I was on morphine for a number of years and couldn't handle living in a brain fog and spent this past june and july detoxing off of it. I suffered all of August, taking tylenol 3 and medical marijuana. The marijuana really helps but I don't like feeling stoned, and it is really hard to dose.
Hi there. I can relate to feeling like I have wasted so much life on being addicted to opiates. My son is almost 8 and my daughter will be 6 soon....and a year before my son was born I have been addicted to oxys, vics, fentanyl pops & patches, methadone etc. Its so sad to look back and think that my whole sons life and daughter's, I have been struggling with this hell and I feel as if i have missed out on so much!!!!
I have had colon cancer and two previous colonoscopies, and am scheduled for another next week. I can't understand any doctor who wouldn't give proper sedation/anesthesia for this - surely it's much easier to do properly if the patient is out of it and not wriggling and complaining. The "conscious sedation" I'm given is midazolam and fentanyl.
humilin 70/30 and R insulin, Nexium, Premarin, klonopin, Prozac, FENTANYL(type 2 narcotic), Plavix, and Phrengren. 13 surgeries since I was 20yrs old. already had Adhension removed Jan 09. I have many doctors. Heart, gastro, ob/gyn, Pain management, Family and alot of ER'S.. Do i have Pancretitis? the pain will rotate to right side too and back. But, its always there. If there is a stomach condition out there, they have said I got it. already been checked for HIV,Liver, etc.
I was pretty much ok then. Is 10 days without a patch enough to clear the fentanyl? Are fentanyl and morphine the same? The pills are green, say 100 on one side and E658 on the other. Ive done oxys before and these arent them. Also Ive done 800 mg "pops" (sorry dont have the package or Id tell you more, you put this lollipop between your cheek and gum) but only do 1/2 at a time. Ibe been doing this for about a year now. Started at 25 mg patches and moved up etc.
I read that she likes those fentanyl pops. I really think it is more mental than anything else. She did pass a drug test ordered by the court. I hope she can find something within her to seek help. I remember when she was 20 and her life seemed to be heading in a great direction. Maybe a case of too much, too soon. I hope she can get it together and take care of her boys.
There are other drugs out on the market for cancer pain, one of which is Fentanyl lolly pops. This drug in my opinion works better at controlling pain than Morphine. My Dad also had breakthrough pain meds. Does your Mother? She will need them if she doesn't already. Anyway, I would try the Fentanyl, it is stronger than Morphine by 81x. Again, I am sorry for what your family will endure.
Yes, I do have pain… my kneecap pops out of its groove (bone on bone pain) – plus I have some stiffness and post-surgery tenderness. I told him I realize the chemistry in my brain is off and I may feel more pain because of this, but I plan to keep tapering and push through. To this he told me I’m not being patient enough with my injury; that I am probably hindering my physical therapy by being in pain when I go; and that I’m most likely clinically depressed. Whoa.
