623131 tn?1223057475 I had placed a tegaderm cover over patch #1, and thought the patch came off with the cover. Then I put on patch #2 and went to a garden nursery. I'm amazed I made it home without passing out. I was so dizzy and nauseated I could hardly see straight. I finally figured out that patch #1 was still stuck on me, and it took a few hours before I felt OK again. Now I always double check when I use a cover. Disposal is also a concern.
Avatar f tn I have heard other ppl say that their physician also told them to leave the old one on for a few hours. However when I was on the Fentanyl Patch the instructions from my physician were the same as on the insert. Remove the old patch just before you apply the new one. A small amount of medication may remain on the "old patch" which would most likely explain your higher than expected fentanyl levels. I would certainly discuss this with your new PMP.
13495566 tn?1431029924 Does anybody have the package insert that comes with HARVONI- section 8.7 -says not proven to help cirrhosis. That is one of my denial reasons--I don't know if it says that. Trying to find out.
Avatar n tn ( after dissccussion with my pharmacits and also reading all the info avaible to me on the package insert. ) this was at 2pm. i spent 1 hr in the garden, and played with my dogs... then went for a bike ride with my son.. (( :) ))) when i got home, the patch was already comming off ! it had like a resin on the areas that had lifted. i tried to re-stick... and tried to tape it as suggested in the leafet. neither worked, and it kept rolling off more.
Avatar m tn My doctor and I discussed this problem so instead of upping my Fentanyl dosage, we decided to change the patch more frequently and that was the answer. I also asked the doctor why the patch did not work the entire 72 hours for me, on the package it says it can work up to 72 hours. I tend to run higher than normal temperatures so I wonder if I absorb my medication faster. My doc essentially said that not all people make it to the 3rd day and that she has definitely seen this before.
Avatar n tn I have been taking up to 12 percocets a day (sciatica) and now I've been given Fentanyl Patch (16.5 for a nominal in vivo delivery of 100 mcg/h fentanyl for 72hrs) and don't know what to expect, I'm alittle scared to put it on. Could someone tell me how they feel, I have 9yr old twins and don't want to be too zonked out. Thanks so much for any info, I'm so happy I found this site.
Avatar m tn s problem, and hope someone can offer us advice, she was prescribed 25mg fentanyl in 2006 for pain from a spinal injury and gradually since then her patch strength has been increased as her condition worsened until she is now prescribed 200mg fentanyl, plus she has oramorph and diazepam on her repeat prescription for breakthrough pain, However during the last two months through sheer grit she has managed to decrease her patch strength without her specialist's help (he told us both last year
Avatar n tn Will my pharmacist replace a fentanyl patch that got cut? I was opening it up and cut the wrapper like an idiot but my hands hurt too bad to tear it open. Anyway I cut a good sized hole in it and the gel started leaking everywhere so I hurried and flushed the patch so I didnt get gel everywhere. I'm only 23 so doctors and pharmacists are already curious if I'm making excuses to "drug seek". I just dont know how to approach the situation or if I'm S.O.L.
592774 tn?1325393742 DH just started with fentanyl patch and we are having trouble keeping it on. I have been taping around the edges but it does not stay attached in the middle where the medicine is. We have tried his upper arm, upper chest, upper back. I would love any advice on how to keep these things on! I tried using a hair dryer to dry his skin and then warming up the patch with the hairdryer before sticking it on tonight. His movement just makes it separate from his skin.
1412606 tn?1282882129 Ok, so the last time I saw my doctor about 2 months ago, she decided to put me on MS Contin 15 mg 3x day. I was already taking 2 5/325 percocets 3 x a day, but I went in because it wasn't enough. It never has been enough. She always gave me muscle relaxers for the nights, because she didn't want to give me anymore percocets, but I still wake up in pain. They don't work at all. So I finally went in and she put me on the MS Contins.
688620 tn?1227378284 I know nothing about Fentanyl and was wondering what the mcg/hr is and how long after I put this patch on does it start working and am I on the right dose? Is this 100 mcg/hr similar to my 90mg a day of the Kadian? How am I going to feel when this kicks in. I put the patch on at 9:30 pm and it is 12:30am now and I still feel nothing at all. Please someone help me to know what to expect and what I might feel like when i do feel it.
Avatar m tn According to the conversion charts that I normally refer to the fentanyl patch would need to be 125 mcg to equal what you are taking now, which would be delivered over a 72 hour period. As far as changing from one to the other I would guess that your physician would start you on a lower dose as you begin the fentanyl therapy, possibly only 25 or 50 mcg's. Fentanyl takes 8 to 24 hours after application before your body fully absorbs the dose.
Avatar f tn Within 24 hous you should begin to feel tje fentanyl working, and after a day or two after you apply the 2nd patch, the level of fentanyl in your system will stablize. You can do a couple of things to make sure the patch is working. First, make sure that patch is properly applied and second, acquire the covers for the patch. Information about proper application of tjeeethe patch and the covers is is on the patient information you should have received with the medication.
Avatar f tn I am on fentanyl 75 mg patch xanax 2 three times a day and percocet. My patch burst and I dont know if I should put on another or not I just started these.
1176986 tn?1264917842 I also use the Fentanyl Patch. I was switched from 10mg Oxycontin, 4x per day to 75mcg Patch every 48hrs. While that worked great for a year, I was recently upgraded to 100mcg every 48hrs. I feel that the dose your currently taking might not be the right dose for you. With the large dose of Oxycontin you've been taking, I would think that the Doctor should have started you on at least a 75mcg patch. With the Fentanyl, it truly is trial and error in the beginning.
725248 tn?1316162245 I was allergic, severely to the adhesive that is used to keep the patch in place. The pain relief was ok but I just couldn't wear it look enough to determine it it was going to be effective. I know we have members that have been on the patch for years and swear it is better than sliced bread. Most have reported that the side effects diminish as their system adjust to the opiate. Sorry this is all I can offer.
Avatar f tn I would leave the patch in place until I replaced it with a new one on the 10th. The patch continues to deliver the fentanyl as long as the patch is in place for a time. The Percocet will also help to ease any minor decrease in the fentanyl during that time.
Avatar m tn Well i have updates for you on the Fentanyl. My Doc must of had the DEA talked with him. Gave me ltimatum of either Vicoprofen or Fentanyl. Since i want to go off Fentanyl 75mcg i said just help me off the Fent. and pt me on Vicoprofen. He is giving me 90 tabs. So here is the kicker from 75mcg he gave me 5 patches of 25mcg. He wants me to take 2 that should last 3days and after that 2 that should last 6 days and the last one another 6 days. This is such a joke.
Avatar n tn Hi! Thanks for having this online resource! I'm researching the pro's and con's of the fentanyl patch. My fiance has been in a great deal of back pain and is prescribed oxy's, morphine and percocet. However, he doesn't take them because they the only things that work for him are 80's and roxy's that he gets from family and friends.
Avatar f tn I have been using the fentanyl patch several years now. For me I had to increase the dosage, I think about ever three years. I am now on the 50 mg patch with meds for break through pain. I do go to a pain management doctor, and it is much better for you to talk to your doctor about the pain not being controlled. Your body becomes tolerant and increased doses are expected. I am surprised your doctor hasn't already increased the dosage after such a long time taking the same pain killer.
Avatar m tn I really hope that the members who use the Fentanyl patch and who read this undestand that putting the patch on in a warm place is not a good idea. It will make the medicine go into the blood stream faster than it would normally. Please stick to the arm or chest. It is in your best interest. Thanks....
Avatar m tn Has this happened to anyone else who has been on the fentanyl patches? I know that getting a red rash is a common side effect of wearing the patch, but I cant find any info on the rash lingering long after the actual patch has been removed.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Opana ER 30mg /2 TID for long term spinal pain due to breaks and fusions. I am going to try replacing that for a short time with a Fentanyl Patch to see if I have any improvement in Pain Mgmt. I am just wondering what regimen I should use to safely do this. For example. Is it as easy as waiting 12 hrs. after my last Opana ER and then apply the patch (it's a 3 day patch) then take another ER once the 3 days has expired?
Avatar f tn i have ben on the fentanyl patch quite awhile 100mg and have gone down to 50 mg, my health ended and my last patch ends in 4 days and im scared.
