If you take off a Mylan Brand patch and you stick it to something, Can you reuse that same patch days later? Someone has advised me to use two old ones at the same time to equal one new one, but this definitely didn't sound right? If anyone can help I would be most grateful. I am on vacation and our trip has been delayed I cant get home for a week! I am scared to death and there is absolutely no way for me to get a new script here!
I've been on fentanyl 50mg for 7 months and I really want off of it now. I tried to just rip off the patch several months ago...very bad move. It was terrible. I've read where you could cut the patch if it was a mylan patch only. I also read where someone went from 50mg to 25 to 50 then went 25 to 50 to 25 and then 25 to 25 to 25mg as a way to work my was down on the dosage. I'm really scared.
I Have been prescribed 25 mcg/ hour Mylan Fentanyl patches.I'm on my third patch. I'm feeling no relief. I've enven tried using a heating pad and chewing on the used ones just to get some relief still nothing.Any suggestions?
Hello! I been over on the Painmngmt. mainly but have a question regarding Fentanyl i hope someone can help me with. I'm currently weaning down on Fentanyl 25mcg. This is my 5th day and my schedule looks like this. 1st keep 2 25mcg patches on for 3days. Next put 2 25mcg keep those on for 3days. Next put 1 25mcg and leave that on for 3 days and the last put1 25mcg patch on and leave on for 3days. After this i'm done. I was started on 25mcg and went quickly up to 100mcg whithin 4weeks.
I began taking it even when I did not need it for pain and became addicted and tolerant to the medication... About 5 months ago, I got on Fentanyl Patches at 25mcg then increased it to 50, and now am on 75... I need to get off this and tried last month and I couldn't, it was too hard... My question is, what is the right way to get off of the Fentanyl without wanting to die. I am a registered nurse and am getting my nurse practitioner degree and will be done with my masters degree shortly...
Feeling weird weird on these and thinking it's just the start up feelings from the Fentanyl. I'm also on on Celexa and that apparently is not a good combo. So i asked the Doc to get off the Fentanyl and he said OK and gave me my normal dose of Vicoprofen. Of course i'm having big time whidrawls from not being on the Fentanyl. So my question is what do i need to overlap 75mcg off fentanyl?. do i need to go to Percocet or something else to not have the whidrawls coming back ?.
I was getting the Patch by Sandoz which was working great and then the Pharmacy decided that Sandoz was too expensive and restocked the shelves with the Mylan Patch. After refilling my scrip with the Mylan I had noticed over the next day that I had increased pain and felt fluish. I brushed it off and chocked it up to me just not feeling good. After putting the next patch on I had noticed the samething going on and reaized that the patch was not preforming like the Sandoz.
Does anyone know if you take a Fentanyl patch off and try to use it again in a couple weeks Is it still good?
I have been on 100 mcg of fentanyl for 8 years and want off. Twenty patches a month! I want off I want to live again not just exist. Help me.
Hi & Welcome, I am sure the withdrawal is difficult, especially with Fentanyl. I need to suggest that you speak with your prescribing physician and be honest, let him/her know what is going on with you and tell them that you want to be off of the medication. Perhaps they can suggest a proper taper schedule and that may include a different medication. Glad you found your way here.
my only concern with pstch id thst they make 'SWEAT' alot; which i have never been one too sweat and the Mylan patches come off by the time i wake up in the morning. i must now use the i transparent cover up(derm0 patch. Is there another manufacture that's makes these "patches"? On a good note, prior too be prescribeded,(THIS WAS OUTRAGEOUS) They were not treating the problem just trying to turn me into a junkie, granted i still have too raise children,i dont work perm.
Anyone else hear that Sandoz quit manufacturing the 50 mcg of the Fentanyl Patches??? This is what the pharmacist at Walmart told me when I went to go get my script filled for a higher dose. I have tried Mylan and Sandoz. and I liked Sandoz a lot better. Now I am using Watson...which is weird....I can at least visually see the medicine now but it leaves marks on my skin and my pain hasn't been controlled lately even with the increase.
Just began on fentanyl patches for chronic pain. I have had radiation damage but am a cancer survivor so not bitter just tired of pain.
After a decade resulting in opioid resistance as treatment for fibromalgia, degenerative disc disease and advancing osteo-arthritis, I was given Mylan patches 100 mcg ,after 2 years, every 48 hrs because I would get the shakes before 72 hrs. Mental/physical decline prompted me to cut back rather abruptly, @ 50mcg/72 hrs. Thought i was going crazy, since bi-polar in family & I've had mild depression since childhood.
I will say that I cut my patches to aid in tapering. I got the Mylan generic (no gel) and cut them a bit at a time with no problems. I know I'm going to get flamed by putting that out here, but I'm just telling the honest truth about my experience.
I'll leave my comments for the PM and just wish you all the best, look fwd to seeing how it goes for you.
I saw my pain doctor today and he put me on Fentanyl patch 25mgs every 72 hours. I have read all the papers on it and searched it on the internet. If there is any info on the patch that you don't read on the paperwork I was wondering if you could share. I put it on about a hour ago. My pharmacy gave me some things to go over the patch so it don't get wet, she said I can also buy them she gave me 2 of them.
I have called Mylan the company that makes the Fentanyl but they don't know much, or have protocol for detoxing. I know the list of symptoms that they have and burning isn't on it but it is certainly a symptom of detox! The burning is the most important problems now along with sleep but I think I have the sleep thing figured out......for a few days anyway. Thanks!
The Fentanyl patch is 80 TIMES STRONGER THEN MORPHINE ! If you aren't liking the way you feel on the MS Contins, which are essentially morphine, then you won't like the Fentanyl. I went from the Ms Contins to Fentanyl a few years ago & honestly it was the BIGGEST mistake I've EVER made!!! You build up a tolerance to the Fentanyl quickly, it's 80x's stronger then morphine, 50x's stronger then heroin, & can be quite dangerous. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE TAKING IT!!!!!
I started fentanyl yesterday and the 25 mcg are too much doc is going to write me for 12 mcg I have 3 boxes of the others and they are the Mylan ones, can I cut these in 1/2 and use them?
I use the Mylan Fentanyl patches and wonder if they can be cut to help with tapering. I see a Pain Doc Specialist for my back and chronic pain...last disc replacement was in October 2013. All my meds are from him and used as prescribed, I'm just interested in getting through this weaning process quicker you know? I keep getting differing opinions online. Thank you for your help.
I am even thinking of contacting Mylan and asking them directly if they know anything about this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!! Kindest regards. Painful in Seattle.
Did the increase your breakthrough meds to help you step off the fentanyl? What type of patches are you using (Mylan, sandbox, duragesic etc.
Hello Freebird63, I, too, have the Mylan Brand Fentanyl Patch ( in fact @ of them 1-50 mcg and 1-12mcg for 62 mcg). I also, change mine every 48 hours as the 72 hours is just too long for me. MANY patients are on the 48 hour schedule. I wear mine on my shoulder blade area on my back. You pretty much need to figure out what is best for you. I don't have a problem with sweating and my patch coming off, FORTUNATELY!! So I have not had to worry about my patch once it is on.
The Mylan brand is NOT gel filled. I'm not sure which is but MYLAN is NOT. I would think that you Doctor will HAVE to write it on your prescription for you. If that's what he wants you to take. Best of luck to you and PLEASE let us know if you are able to find them.......
I knocked down my 50 mcg fentanyl dose to 25 mcg a few weeks ago. I just started on 12.5 mcg every two days on Friday. So far, so good! I've been using the Mylan patches and slowly cutting off small slices of them with every change. Once I reach my goal, I'll leave it for a month to stabilize since my pain levels get worse temporarily. Hopefully, I'll stabilize at 12.5 every 3 days on or before Christmas and I can get down to the nitty gritty and end it in 2011.
The pharmacy changed to the Mylan brand and I dont have the itching problem anymore.I personally feel the Mylan brand is not as effective though.
I posted this question here once and in another forum once but have only received one response, Please IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE DO!!! If you remove a Mylan Brand Fentanyl Patch can you put the removed patch on weeks later? The membrane on the back of the patch seems to be in good condition and My body temperature when I was wearing the older patch was average(although I sweated a bit).
I too use the Fentanyl Patches. The ONLY one that I've ever used is the Mylan Brand and it has without a doubt the BEST adhesive that there is. You might have your Doctor request this brand for you from now on as I think it MIGHT help to solve your problems. :) The patches that were recalled can be found on the FDA website - however - I can let you know that the ONLY ones that were recalled were the 25 mcg patches.
