Because your body is sent into immediate w/d's and being that your on the Fentanyl like I am...it's too much for your body to handle. So...not a good idea unless your under a Doctors care and still it's going to be very uncomfortable. It's too bad that the Government doesn't see the amount they would save if you were to initially go through the w/d's and not have to take the meds afterwords.
Hi.....I have been following your posts for months, hoping for a bit of hope and knowledge from others who have been there before making a very tough or wrong choice. I don't even know where to start, I'm so confused. My son is 21 and apparently a very heavy drug user. Everything came to light about a year &1/2 ago. arrested on sale and pocession, I bailed and went through all the things that come with it lawyer, $$,etc.giving him the benifit of the doubt.
And yes, I was only taking 40-60 hydrocodone a month, then I moved, ( across state and I and my son had to load rental moving trucks - then do painting in old house and prep for sale) had to take care of mom in law and 90 lb shepard in and out of my explorer. So I had to increase dose did not realize I had to call them. I just looked at my paperwork and do not see anything about that. I guess I had been taking them so long just figured I knew what I was doing.
i would have to go through that nasty withdrawal just like i did with fentanyl. for me, that was not a good long term med because of the mental and physical exhaustion it caused. i was only on it for 8 months or so and could not imagine being on it for life. methodone use long term can effect some of your organs as i am sure others could testify to. i hope you continue to post as i will be interested in what you decide.
Daily (or moreover-when I'm in pain) I use a 50mcg/hr fentanyl transdermal patch and take 10/325mg oxycodone (generic perkocet) for break through pain. As of lately itself like my msk has been muuuuccchhhh more controlled and manageable. I hope you one day soon also find your perfect balance and regimen! Im sotry that this post is a bit half-assed but I'm typing it on a kindle fire...lolol I have never actually posted on anything like this so I more then likely wont be checking back..
Today is the first time in months I've been able to read. I have a passion for reading but while I was on the fentanyl I couldn't concentrate enough. r2r....hope to hear a lot from you. I read your posts. badeggs...you know you're the strong one. You have more physical pain than I ever thought of having. I bet that baby is adorable. tomnypls....I really was going to get the tags for my car today, but it's not my fault there was a jewelry sale at Illusions. I needed earrings.
Thank ya'll so much for the advice and info! I had already detoxed off the fentanyl patch over a 100days ago. For Fentanyl it takes a long time to detox and its hell. Ask anyone else who has detoxed off it. I was like Ray Charles in the movie 'Ray" when he was detoxing off herion, and Fentanyl is 2x as stronger as herion. Anyway, so I guess my body is extremely messed up from the cold turkey w/d.
Now she is back in the hospital for severe N/V 2 days past her 2nd carb/taxol therapy. She has a G-tube, is on Fentanyl, and is on TPn at home. She looks like she has aged 20 years at times. She is only 44. I have read several article dealing with bowel obstructions and OC. All don't offer much hope. We recently closed our business and I had a temporary job lined up. Well temporary is over, and I am looking for work. We have enough savings to last 6 months.
I have been seeing a Pain Management Doctor for over two years now and have not once been asked to submit to a blood or urine test? I read in these posts all the time about the troubles that people have gone through due to false negatives and "losing" meds etc. What I'm wondering is, do most CP patients get tested, is it the norm? Or like me, do most never have to submit to a test? Is the system broken?
I am 50 and have been in menopause for about 14 months. Since April of last year, I have experienced periods of INTENSE hot flashes and night sweats - sometimes 30 within 24 hours! These periods last 6-8 weeks and then the hot flashes reduce in intensity and occurance gradually over the next 10 weeks. Then, unfortunately, they start again. I am currently in my 3rd cycle of this pattern. I haven't had a period since November 2005. My GYN has done blood tests - I'm definately menopausal.
The patent for Zofran recently expired, which is why it can now be purchased and manufactured in a generic form. There are several strengths of generic Zofran available for sale, including Ondansetron 4 mg to 8 mg tablets. It also comes in several forms. I don't know the cost differance between generic and brand name but there should be a difference. With all newly patent expired meds the cost will eventually come down.
For me, by the time I found out about it, it was too late for my hands, but I do find it helps other joints for me. It can be a little pricey, but a lot of pharmacies have a "buy one get one" sale. Also, Costco carries it at a better price. The ThermaCare hand wraps help me a lot! Cold makes mine much worse (I hate winter and air conditioning!) There are OTC creams you can rub in. I never found them to be much help. But I do have prescription creams that help a lot.
never used/abused drugs. Was on all kinds of meds for pain such as Fentanyl, (made me loopy so I just didnt put any more on after about 6 months,) MS Contin, OXycontin. Stopped all of those no problem. Then they gave me Percocet fopr BT pain. I Started running out of my scripts earlier and earlier. Long story short, right now I ma tapering slowly. I am taking them AS prescribed and planning on tapering mo0re. I have reduced from 15-18 pills a day to 8 pills per day for the last 2 weeks.
My weight loss came because of the meds I'm on - the Fentanyl Patch. For some reason it has taken my appetite away and the weight came off and I wasn't even trying!!! I KNOW this has NOTHING to do with Pain Management BUT in a way it does because for ONCE I'm TAKING CARE OF ME!!!! I can't begin to tell you all HOW EXCITED I am about today. My appointment is at 5:00 pm tonight and I can't WAIT!!!
I already mix with motrin i was open for suggestions..the pain doctor told me to just stop taking them for a couple of weeks i am like damn that is kinda rough doc,but i did manage to stop for a couple of days and they did work better..
I am a 38-year-old, single mother. My daughter is almost 15. I work in a professional field. I am extremely nervous about joining a community like this and posting things for all to see. However, my desperation must outweigh my anxiety and fear b/c here I am... Please be patient with me - this is all new to me. I spent the past 30 minutes typing a post which really was about as long as a novella.
I still have neuropathy in fingers and toes, and my chemo brain is still a bit there. I do go for walks, and exercise (just not like I did and as often as I did prior to the cancer diagnosis). It has been 3 months plus.... and my hair has only grown approx 1/4 inch. On May 1 I begin my 2nd rd of chemo...I have put it off for a few weeks so that I can travel and enjoy a bit of freedom from the ugliness of the chemo side effects. I was on the same 2 drugs you have been on.
fentanyl, hydromorphone, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, and oxymorphone. Some of the possible REMS being considered include: • Removing extended-release forms of the drugs from the market. • Requiring doctors to have special education and certification to dispense the drugs. • Requiring pharmacists to have special certification to dispense the drugs. • Dispensing the drug to patients only in specific health care settings. • Monitoring each patient using the drug.
I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale and they will reply telling you which hath the best price. And the sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)." Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. The drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever moving from his tent.
I am looking at a DEA report on the retail price of pain meds on the street for the month of August for California. $10 - $120 per pill for Oxycontin, $10 - $75 for Fentanyl patches, and so on through every pain pill I've ever heard of.. Every one of these pills came from someone who told their doctor they were in pain.
told surgeon on 2 separate occasions he ignored my questions as to why this happened. The last 8 months have been hell for me. i am now on 800 mg of neurotin 3x a day. i cannot put any weight on my left leg at all.i had an MRI and a Cscan done , not really a 100% sure , but it looks as though the screw on the left side of the plate in my lower back went down too far and is actually sitting on the nerve going down theleft leg. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been treated for depression since 1991 and am on lexapro and just started gabitril. The problem is that I never sleep well and have become addicted to ambien but do not know how to tell my psych this. I get the ambien over the internet and sometimes take 100mg or more at a time. How do I stop on my own? I cannot afford a clinic and I know my psych will make me go to the hospital if I tell her.
Thank you so much for your response. I have been using for like 4 and a half years now, I used to be pretty social and would go out a lot and drink and do coke and then one day its like I traded it all in for oxycontin and got so addicted it was shocking. Id never really been addicted to something before the way ive become addicted to oxy. Its literally taken over my life and I want so bad to stop it.
remind yourself how much you love your family and how you're doing this for them. We are with you and are here for you!
I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back. Then we tried message therapy, it helps but only for a short period. And I have tried changing my pillows on my bed and sleeping in different positions and nothing seems to help for long term. What can I do?
Hi everyone - I have just come across this forum - and would like to ask help and advice. I have been taking nurofen plus (ibuprofen + codeine sulphate 12.8 mg per tablet) for 5 years - I take about 24 tablets per day (all at once - like the feeling along with the pain killing effects) I must give these up - for I understand this is addiction - and must find another way to deal with pain. I guess nurofen is much like tylenol (2? 3? 4?) - dont know which one.
(however, a shadow on the internet so you don't really know, but i am), and have worked with supplements for about 30 years. i have taken them for over 35 years now. i will tell you, b-6 toxicity exists. i am a supporter of taking supplements, but agree, this one is a cautious one. i have the problem myself! i have numb toes, mild nerve damage upon EMG findings. they thought i had maybe ms/als/ something.
