1006065 tn?1251478669 I was prescribed Fentanyl Patches while in the hospital with severe kidney issues which caused excruciating pain. I was kept on them for four months and I am the one who asked to be taken off them because of breakthrough pain and withdrawal symptoms at the 48-hour mark of the patch life...I just could not justify staying on them with the withdrawals I was experiencing on a patch that was not handling my pain. My last patch was removed on Thursday, August 20th, which was 12 days ago.
1390687 tn?1281157239 i wound up in a hospital because i threw 250 times a day and started throwing up blood. i got dehydrated. my blood pressure and blood sugar shot up out of control. coming off of this is far worse than the patches and they sucked. i am on my 3rd day now and slowly getting better. it is the hardest thing i have ever done. i feel for all of you and i blame dr's because instead of figuring out what was wrong with me they just shelled out pain meds.
5009469 tn?1362276993 Hello, I've been on 300 mcg Fentanyl & 120 mg Oxycodone for over 8 yrs. I started seeing a new Dr 12/31/2012, she first told nme she wanted NOTHING to do with my pain meds, she referred me to a PS. Since I couldn't get into see him until April, she decided to decrease my pain meds, the first time she dropped my Oxy to 60 mgs. then 17 days later she decreased my Fentanyl to 50mcg & my Oxy to 15 mg, it's been 6-7 days & my body is going thru alot of different things....
Avatar m tn My question is about managing the withdrawal symptoms - what are some specific things I can do to help manage 1) high blood pressure, 2) high heart rate, 3) pain, pain everywhere, 4) restlessness, 5) getting some sleep. All kooky suggestions welcomed - I am hydrated, I'm taking hot baths, I'm cycling on a trainer for 20-minute stints every day, I'm eating well, I'm taking my vitamins, and you know, being sensible, but OUCH. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn its the duragesic flat patches i also have very high blood pressure
Avatar f tn We had to take my mother-in-law to the ER because her blood pressure was very low. When we arrived and they saw the Fentanyl Patch, the first thing they assumed was overdose. They did a tox screen and found no opiates in her system. The patch had been replaced approximately 24 hours prior. She has been on the Fentanyl Patch (100 mcg) for about 3 years and uses a tegaderm patch over it to hold it in place. It was on her stomach.
Avatar f tn MY DOCTOR INCREASED THE PATCH TO 75MG, I HAD IT ON FOR WEEK . THEN ALL OF SUDDEN I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY, MY BLOOD PRESSURE WENT TO 104/105 IN THE DOCTORS OFFICE AND HE DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. SO!! MY LIFE TO ME WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A DRUG. MY LIFE I HAD TO TAKE CONTROL OF. I FOUND COURAGE FROM , GOD FIRST! THEN MY FAMILY. I SPENT A WEEK WITHDRAWLING FROM THE HELL OF THAT DRUG AND NOW AFTER 8 DAYS I STILL TRYING TO FIND SOME STRENGTH .
Avatar f tn Not to sound rude but if you can just get off all your pain meds because you are pregnant, than you must not be in enough pain to be on them when not pregnant!
Avatar f tn He actually got angry and walked out of the room, called in 90 tramadol 50mg and .02 clonidine blood pressure patches.Tomorrow is the last day of my patch. Am I going to be okay? Does anyone know what can happen. I haven't abused my meds but have real chronic pain. I have no Insurance...what in the world will I do?
Avatar n tn ) He gave me Clonidine, which works for most people to help with the jitters, restless legs and creepy crawlies, but it brought my blood pressure down too low. So, I took a half dose to help my wds without bringing down my b/p too much. My doctor wants me to STAY on my Darvocet...three times a day and my Clonazepam at bedtime. He didn't take me off either of those during my Fentanyl detox. I have been off of Fentanyl 7 days 14 1/2 hours! The wds are gone...
Avatar f tn she suggested no rehab she wrote me three scripts imodium for diareaha, a blood pressure pill that dont do **** and i already have low blood pressure and wants me to take 30 mg of oxycodone a day in place of hydrocodone 40 mg a day and 50 mcg of fentanyl every 48 hours. i feel like **** and my pain is getting worse every day not bettter. i am haveing a hard time not giveing up.
515278 tn?1318971526 I would be looking at 2 diffent things 1 is blood pressure im fairly certain this is your problem the othe is blood sugar but blood preshure spikes are comon coming off narcotics this is not normal for withdrawals so get to a doctor and get checked out it might be as simple as b/p meds for a wile good luck and God bless.......
Avatar f tn ave me a script for clonidine(used to lower blood pressure) I was hesident to do this because my blood pressure runs low(100/60).I really want to get off this medicine. I do take Dilaudid 4to 6mg. twice a day due to DDD,fibro.had knee replacement and suffer from chronic pain.I want this process to end because I am very anxious to get rid of this Fentanyl. I know I have to o this taper slow, because that is the best way.
Avatar f tn I am a single mom of 4 kids plus an elderly dad to take care of. In addition, I have several underlying health issues (high blood pressure, fibormyalgia, anxiety, a slight heart problem) so cold turkey isn't the way for me to go. But I've just been thinking that maybe since I'm not physically addicted to morphine I could just stop?? Or does it matter ... a narcotic, is a narcotic, is a narcotic??? Thanks for any hep you can shed on this.
Avatar f tn t take these if you are on any kind of antidepressant without talking to a doctor, they can cause a spike in blood pressure or something like that if you mix them with a prescription anti depressant). The L-theanine is a natural valium of sorts..it's helped me so much that i don't need xanax anymore, but everyone is different, hopefully it will help you.
Avatar m tn I did/do explain, from the beginning of the patch use, I experienced discomfort with anxiety, rocking, restlessness towards the end of the 72 hours, not so much pain. I was given a blood pressure med, or anxiety meds to aleviate symtoms - which I was reluctant to use. So then they put me on 100mcg, that was down from 125, every 48 hours - but still i can't seem to think straight or concentrate.
Avatar f tn My dr, gave me clonidine for the restless leg syndrome but this med has a tendency to lower your blood pressure. I did not take this because my baseline pressure is 100/60.I will let you know how I make out with my next appointment. It sure feels good to have friends on this site. Hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas and new year. Hope everything is doing well with you.
9258244 tn?1402972453 and Clonidine for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future.
Avatar m tn sounds like to me you might need some clonidine not only for the withdrawls but for your blood pressure. Dont hesitate to go to your local ER for evaluation.Dont want your blood pressure to go to high. Hang in there.
655875 tn?1295695107 I want to pass my responsibilities over to someone else the next few days. It feels like my blood pressure is over the roof. Poor family.
Avatar f tn what were the side effects you experienced? This Doctor didn't mention ANYTHING!, even though he knew my heart history, high blood pressure, and they didn't work before, but I can't remember the details, so he just insisted to use MORE and that was THAT! Did they make you sleepy?, I know they didn't help my pain before but that's all I can remember,(they stopped them within 2 months,nI DO remember that!
Avatar f tn I find clonidine is a big help, it is an old blood pressure medication but helps temper the surge of epinephrine that you get while detoxing and is responsible for many of the nasty symptoms. Also, I have found some help in amino acids and other supplements . Many others on here know more than I do, but I am taking quite a few including Emergen c, tyrosine, theanine, Lysine , calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc. I would be happy to tell you more if you are interested.
Avatar f tn What OTHER meds are you talking. I take 16 other meds BUT they have to do with heart, BLood Pressure, etc. NOTHING to do with pain or Stress or ANYTHING like that. I just wonder of you are taking any other type of meds at all. Whether that might have something to do with it. There's also the chance that maybe it's a little too strong and that is affecting it in some way. HEAT plays a HUGE part with the Fentanyl as you saw in my post last week.
268911 tn?1213744781 Withdrawal from narcotics is a dangerous game, the worst of the discomfort any addict will tell you comes on the third day and lasts till the fourth. This is the dangerous time, low blood pressure can lead to seizures and respiratory failure.Any body with any true knowledge about addiction will tell you that a medical detox is the only safe way, then getting help for the reasons why you are taking part in such a life destroying activity.
Avatar f tn I'm a chronic pain patient and have been on the fentanyl patch for over 5 years. I am currently tapering off at my own request. All I can tell you is what my doctor told me and my own experience with tapering fentanyl. A couple years ago I asked to drop from 75 to 50 mcg never imagining what was in store for me. Within two days I was a barfing, leg-kicking, insomniac mess. Hot showers/ baths helped tremendously for the worst of it.
Avatar m tn ve had every kind of withdrawl symptom you can imagine from the constant nausia, shaking, stroke level high blood pressure, heart attack symptoms, etc. Right now I have constant nausia, lump in my throat massive anxiety-crying panic attacks that won't stop.
