Avatar m tn If the wall thickening has an underlying cause is pathological and if not successfully treated the heart wall will not relax and this rigidity will impair the amount of blood that fills the chamber during the diastole phase. Also, the enlarged size can crowd out space for filling. The EF can be normal, etc. but it is pumping less blood with each heartbeat. And the reduced CO will eventually provide less blood from the lungs and heart failure. Worst case scenario.
Avatar f tn i am 59 normal bmi treated for htn and high chol. can these echo findings cause chest pain and do the echo findings relateto each other or are they just incidental findings.
Avatar n tn You are probably referring to the septum wall. That is the wall that separates the left and right lower heart chambers, and the thickness has an estimated range of 6 to 11 mm. Thickened heart walls reduces the filling capacity, and usually the rigidity impairs to some degree the ability to pump as well. If this condition is serious, it can cause shortness of breath, etc.
Avatar n tn An EKG is not a very good source for identifing any structual abnormalities and there are many causes other than a heart condition that can provide a false positve, An echo shows the left ventricle has some thickening the wall. This condition can cause some rigidity of the heart wall and as a result the chamber is not able to fill with blood to the degree that is normal, The wall size can be due to an abnormal burden for the heart and that can be the result of high blood pressure, etc.
Avatar m tn The E is the early filling phase and the A is the following phase with the upper chamber contraction and pump blood into the left ventricle. When the heart wall is thickened the left ventricle does not fill very well due to the rigidity of the heart wall so the "A" phase may be compromised (restricted pattern of filling). Of additional medical significance is the atrium (upper chamber) pumps against a higher resistence and may enlarge.
Avatar f tn I have found nothing per say, but I always check the chest wall as well as my breasts and under my arm. I have noticed that one the chest bones on my left side a little under the collar bone protrudes slightly more than my right side. I have no soreness what so ever. As I never used to feel my chest wall before I got BC, I have no idea if this has always been the case. What is your view on it?
Avatar n tn Thickened heart wall is problematic as there are filling restrictions and reduced contractility due to rigidity of the wall.
1663450 tn?1302885247 This subject is oftened discussed on the heart disease forum for registered members who share their experience with a heart disorder, and you appear to be referring to the left ventrical (pumping chamber), and thickening refers to the heart wall, and the condition is referred to cardiomyopathies. A thickened wall will not relax very well and the rigidity will reduce the filling capacity. Extrinsic cardiomyopathies – cardiomyopathies where the primary pathology is outside the myocardium itself.
Avatar n tn I have hypertension that was diagnosed 2 years ago and I am on Lisinopril and it is controlled. My father had heart disease at 59 and had a CABG x3 with a vavlve replacement so this makes me a bit concern. I am only 40 years old. Should I be concerned? I exercise and try to keep my weight controlled and do not smoke.
1645754 tn?1301146675 Hypokinetic indicates there may be some impairment to the wall movement when the heart is in the filling phase. Movement should be relax during filling to dilate and fill adequately and wall movement should have some contractility (systole phase) to help pump blood into circulation. Q: DIASTOLIC DYSFUNCTION >>>>>>Diastolic is the medical term for filling phase. Supports hypokinesis finding of the above comments.
1033165 tn?1309435416 does anyone have any problems with chest wall neuropathy? and if so what have you done for help in pain management. I have tried different drugs(which I am currently still taking) physical therapy, inner costal rib injections, tens unit. Can't seem to find any relief for the severe pain. Please help with any ideas. I got this pain from a lung resection surgery I had last July.
Avatar n tn d quite like some advice, basically i keep getting like a sharp pain in my rib cage on the left side, like a sharp pain that comes and goes, and it doesnt get worse nor better, I almost felt like i was having a heart attack, and everytime i've been the doctors they keep telling me it's just muscloskeletal related, but also i've had very weird dizzy spells that come on all of sudden and with my ribs they stick out far too much and im not terribly skinny just average, worried and only
Avatar f tn A bone island should not be anything to worry about and would not require treatment. Possible causes of your symptoms include chest wall inflammation, pleuritis, causes related to the GI or respiratory tract etc. You could consider seeing an internist for evaluation of your chest pain. After a cause is identified it can be managed accordingly. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
1754444 tn?1312348075 Usually when there is diastolic dysfunction is due to an abnormal increase in heart wall size (the rigidity of wall inhibits the chamber to relax and fill normally. Or DD can be caused by right side heart failure...failure to pumped sufficient blood to the lungs to be oxygenated and as a result less blood goes to the left ventricle. I don't see anything with your echo report to indicate a cause for DD.grade1 which is not very serious.
Avatar f tn a thorough evaluation by a physician is indicated for muscle rigidity. The doctor should check reflexes, sensation and muscle tone. Diagnostic tests like CT scan, MRI, nerve conduction studies or electromyography and certain blood tests as necessary are done. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause and severity. Do keep us posted and take care.
700966 tn?1228661931 hi guys just a different picture on this i too suffer from costo in the chest wall muscles under my breast and accross the ribs around my back ,i get flares all the time and it may last days to weeks i understand it is difficult not to worry about the heart being involved ,but trapped nerves ,digestion problems ,anxiety ,stress ,lack of exercise ,breathing wrong ,will make the situition worst ,have u tried swimming ,streching the muscles every morning ,acupunctue, massage ,a hot water bottle pla
Avatar f tn This condition is related to heart wall stiffenss and medically termed diastolic (filling phase) dysfunction. The rigidity of heart walls limits the filling capacity of the left ventricle where relaxation provides some elasticity to the chamber walls and increases the capacity. The underlying cause for DD can be high blood pressure and/or coronary vessel lesions. 2) Trace tricuspid regurgitation ...considered medically insignificant and almost always does not progess nor cause symtoms.
Avatar m tn The underlying cause was lack of adequate blood flow to a section of the heart and that impaired heart wall movement (hypokinesis) and the hypokinesis reduced the force to adequately contract and pump blood into circulation. My therapy has reduced the heart size, revitialized heart cells, and the ejection fraction has returned to normal. My LAD is totally blocked as well, but the body system can compensate by developing collateral vessels to feed into the deficit areas, etc.
Avatar m tn HEPPA filters can be installed at home to take care of the allergens. Please consult an asthma specialist or any chest specialist and a change in prescription medications may help. Also pulmonary function tests should be done to assess the degree of obstruction and this will help in dose adjustment. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn I am starting to hurt through my chest and legs and hands. I am starting to have some sweats. My question is: are these pains part of cold turkey from the Subsys or new symptoms of the new meds I have been given? Lastly, how long does the fentanyl last in my system?
Avatar f tn Dear sir I have coughing from last month, fever 102-104 regularly. Mentaux test positive and chest X-ray shows bronchetactics changes in (L) upper mid zone. Bronchial wall thickening noted. Nodular densities noted (L) upper zone Important : infective/inflamatory pathology. So I want to know how to cure.
Avatar m tn ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. As I vomit and shat myself in my yard from methadone detox, I remember wishing I was a heroin or any other kind of addict. Anyway, mute point, but wanted to share. How much and how long methadone use have you got under your belt bullseye?
20834869 tn?1528912928 I have been experiencing as well alot of times that my skin hurts, all over my back, neck and chest. Pain that is odd to describe but it feels like razor blades across my skin when someone touches me, or even when my clothes touch my skin. This happens to me alot. I have a hard time being touched because it hurts so much. I am just starting to notice a pattern between all of these "symptoms" or whatever they are, and it makes me wonder if it may be spinal cord related?
Avatar f tn this ***** but any one noticing that Patches work better on sides of chest other than outer body and does anyone overlap patches in same spot an anyone change daily thanks? Also it says in pamphlet that u might encounter slow urination or not being able to empty bladder completly and alway feeling like I have to urinate! Anyone else please I sleep threw the night but I get all those symptoms I've been on this med.
