Hi all. This is my second month on Femara. I just found this website today. I took clear blue easy digital ovulation tests. My first month on Femara I didn't get a positive OPK. But I tried again this month. We got a positive OPK on Friday which is really early for me! CD 10 - I usually Ovulate on CD 13 or 14. It is too early for me to do a HPT. I am going to an OB and not an RE yet. Dr. said he would refer us to the RE if this doesn't work. I am very hopeful that this month worked!!

I was on Femara and Necon for 3 months to treat endometriosis. 2 weeks into treatment I started getting side effects like scary muscle pains throughout my body especially in my chest and legs, unable to concentrate and focus, memory loss, joint pain ,anxiety, rage, depression... the list goes on and on. Every time I would call the prescribing dr with a side effect he would tell me it is not from the medication.

Clomid was awful for me as well. But you might want to talk to your doctor about Femara. Some doctors won't use Femara, but if he/she is open to using it, it can be a wonderful option! I had much better success on Femara than on Clomid! Good luck!

I lost my hair and was nauseated but 2 treatments in they discovered the port they implanted in me caused an infection that traveled to my heart and resulted in open heart surgery and 6 months later my cancer came back. At this point my wonderful doctor suggested femara or letrozole that shrunk my tumors in half and I was able to have another surgery. The last surgery seemed to get all of the cancer and I continue to this day to take femara and I'm currently 4 years in remission.

well i wasnt able to find one particular website that had great info on femara used as fertility drug (of course there were lots of warnings about the birth defects - however it said that the birth defects weren't more numerous than the control group!) But there was a lot of info as using femara constantly for 3 months (like lupron) but it had less side effects and they re-lapped patients at the end and the endo was gone!

Hi! Most good infertility clinics have counselors who actively work with the patients when they get to the point that you are at, and many patients do! So I would highly recommend that you find a good counselor first of all! Other things that have worked for people include taking a break for awhile, or even giving up--and adopting. For some reason it seems that the harder you DON;T try, the better your odds!

A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!

First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?

and that the eggs are probably lower quality and would be more likely to have abnormalities. She suggested Femara but said that even that won't improve the egg quality. So my questions: is the FSH level an indication of poor egg quality or reduced reserve or both? Have other people gotten pregnant and carried the baby to term with this high of number? I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.

I didnt get any response from any healthcare providers on my Tamoxifen/Femara question regarding weight gain and loss. Can anyone answer that question for me.

I have been taking Femara the last 3 month, I also take metformin and esterdiol since my lining does not get thick enough on it's own. I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!

d like to discuss trying femara for this 6th cycle instead of clomid since it thinned my lining so much for this cycle. But..I want to know..can I expect the same type of results from femara as I have with clomid? On 100 mgs of clomid, I have had a mature follicle ready for trigger on Days 10 and 11. Thoughts? and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!

So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? So, I took Femara for the first time this cycle - 10 pills on CD7 (he'd rather do them on CD3, but since my cycles have been running long, he took a chance). Anyway, I've been waking up with rather severe tummyaches and intestinal cramps and also getting massive headaches (borderline migraines) in the afternoon.... Could this be due to the Femara?
