560813 tn?1281606868 nothing (no eggs at all) he immediately switched me to femara after first failed attempt with clomid..first month of femara..nothing at all..
Avatar f tn did u get preg while on femara , im on femara and was wondering if there is any succuss stories from it thanks renae
Avatar f tn Femara 5 mg for days 2 - 6 shortens my cycle by about 1 week (ovulate about day 14 instead of around day 20-21). My previous femara cycle resulted in my second daughter (with IUI). Am in middle of a new cycle now and did the IUI 2 days ago. So TWW for now.
Avatar f tn I just finished my 5th cycle of clomid (waiting for af to show..got negative beta on Wed.). My lining was so thin last cycle (4.2 on day of trigger) that my RE took me off the clomid. I asked about doing femara for this next cycle but she doesn't use it in her practice anymore because she had low success rates with it.
Avatar f tn ve had good success with Femara. Also, adding metformin or dexamethasone can help depending upon your situation. Men can use Proxeed to boost the sperm count and quality. It could be time to consider IVF too. Or, at least switching to an expert in fertility who can review your case in depth and look for any missing tests or medications that haven't been tried.

Avatar f tn A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc. and even more in women than men, so the only true way to know if you had abnormally low levels would have been to test you a lot, not just twice. You did have the same levels twice, so it might be a problem. A question would be, how's your sexual desire? How's your stamina? How's your ability to build muscle? How's your energy levels?
Avatar f tn My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?
Avatar f tn Dear Cinders11: Enclosed in quotations is the section of the femara package insert produced by Novartis. "2.5 Use in Hepatic Impairment No dosage adjustment is recommended for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, although Femara blood concentrations were modestly increased in subjects with moderate hepatic impairment due to cirrhosis. The dose of Femara in patients with cirrhosis and severe hepatic dysfunction should be reduced by 50% [see Warnings and Precautions (5.3)].
1299014 tn?1273247877 s low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara! Any help will be appreciated !
Avatar f tn If I choose this route, then on CD2 I would get bloodwork done and start the Femara. Then on CD12 I would go in for an u/s to look at my follies. I would get a trigger shot and we would be doing timed BD. This option is a lot more time consuming and expensive as I would have to pay for all the follow up visits after the initial bloodwork. But doesn't give me any greater odds then using the Clomid.
413852 tn?1317308712 Your OBGYN is right. Mine also had me use Femara for 4 cycles to try to increase our chances since I am in the dreaded "unexplained" category. It worked great for me, I O'd consistently, and had minimal side effects (just headaches and hot flashes here and there). We didn't end up with our BFP, but I have seen a lot of women who have with the Femara. Here are two information packets on it.
1404364 tn?1289431561 I'm having ovulation issues - as usual. Two weeks ago, I did my first cycle of Femara of 2.5mg on CD 3-7. Nothing happened so I am now on CD 7 of 5mg and hoping for the big O. I have been having menstrual type cramps and even some lower back aches for a couple of days now. I have done Clomid several times and never experienced any side effects. I'm hoping this is a good sign! Anyone experience this on Femara? Or has anyone not O'ed on 2.5mg but been successful at 5mg?
Avatar f tn The femara is better for you because it doesn't thin your uterine lining like clomid does. I also noticed alot less side effects with the femara. I didn't use the menopur with it though, so I only had one follicle. But it worked for me on the 2nd cycle!
Avatar n tn I went off all meds in Jan. Since mid Feb to mid Apr my markers went to 180. I started Femara in early Apr. After one month, marker went down to 170. About the same time I started Femara, I have constant sever pain in my right rib area and now pain in my lower right skull. Bone scan was negative. I know this is likely to be bone mets, but is it possible this could caused by Femara, since the bone scan was negative? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
1434731 tn?1382722384 My RE told me not to use clomid for more than 5-6 cycles because after that it can have adverse effects. I've used both clomid and femara in the past while doing IUI's. I actual do ovulate without meds but my progesterone level was low and the RE said the meds made for "better" ovulation, as I could tell because my cycle on clomid or femara was ~28 days instead of just 21-22 days.
788859 tn?1236734548 I usually use the answer opk. You can get them in the 7 tests or the kit which comes with a cup and 20 test strips in case you are not sure how long you cycle runs or when to start testing and incase it is hard to read you have extra if you need them. But they expire 30days after opening and are not supposed to use them after that.
Avatar f tn So I am on Femara now and doctor also told me to use the OPKs, BBT seems to be a little inaccurate especially with alot of us lacking sleep. He said my most fertile days are as soon as I get the positive, and the day after- thats it. If I do not ovulate this cycle, come back and see him. So thats good news. Has anyone taken Femara? Any side effects?
586512 tn?1218512079 I'm also taking metformin, though I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS. Doc said it would help with the lining of my uterus. We tried 3 cycles of clomid and IUIs. No success. Clomid gave me hot flashes and may have made my cervical mucus hostile. This cycle, I took femara and had IUIs (in 2ww). I didn't have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid.
478429 tn?1265244387 Hey ladies, I'm doing Femara this month for the first time - not much luck with Clomid (8 months= 1 BFP early m/c). So I took one month off and decided to give Femara a try before injectables (if needed). So, who here got p/g taking Femara? Trigger ? IUI? etc.... and how many cycles did you do? I'm excited to try something new that could really work, so I'm wanting a bit of good hope!!!

Avatar f tn My understanding is that clomid can cause or worsen cysts and thin your lining. My RE doesnt even use it anymore. Femara is supposed to be better for the lining and cause less problems. I dont know if you will have to go for another lap. It depends on if the cyst is growing or not. Good luck to you.
495138 tn?1221217880 Should I discuss with her which one is best for me or should I just go with the clomid?? I live in Canada so i dont even know if they have Femara here?? Just looking for peoples opinions.
506760 tn?1218044941 In my last 4 cycles on 5md Femara CD3-7, I have always had a super sized mature follicle ranging 28mm to 32 mm on CD14 averagely. Maybe increasing ur dose might help, coz u reached 16 once - right?
405855 tn?1217100767 My lead follicle was 32 mm on CD14 in the last cycle, so my RE asked me to come in early in the next. So in my second cycle I went in on CD12 and found my follicle was 28 mm, that's when they gave me trigger shot this time. My question is that am I not supposed to get a LH surge when the follicle grows like 18-22mm and then I should be ovulating. Why at both times I did not get a surge at that size and why did I not ovulate.
