Femara twins

Common Questions and Answers about Femara twins

femara

Avatar f tn Eventually a few months later I get to an actual fertility specialist. He put me on femara 2.5mg twice a day. I had no side effects from femara, whereas with clomid the side effects were terrible (moody, hot flashes, sore boobs, etc) femara was wonderful compared to clomid! my first cycle on femara I did not ovulate, but on my second round of femara i used hcg injection and got pregnant that way. good luck!!
Avatar f tn Okay so I used femara this last cycle and ovulated 4 days in a row does femara or multiple days of ovulation make me increased chances for twins because im hoping there is only one baby in there
1580043 tn?1333550441 Hello! Yes, cramping from both ovaries is common from Femara and Clomid (and other similar ovulatory drugs) by increasing amounts of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Under normal hormone levels a race progresses for one follicle to become the largest, but when there's extra FSH multiple follicles will become enlarged in both ovaries. This is most likely what you're feeling, as I've had similar symptoms from Clomid.
Avatar f tn I did avoid clomid this time inorder to avoid another set of twins (I do understand this could happen with femara too). I am blessed to have twins, but carrying twins were hard on my body and they were premature. I would like to avoid the complications that come along with it.
1190279 tn?1324936257 I would ask about a combo cycle. Femara or clomid cd3-7 and then some kind if injectibles (follitism or something like menopur) cd8 until your follicles are mature and ready to be triggered. This is way cheaper then injections only and has a lower likelihood is producing high order multiples. This is what ended up working for me when clomid and Femara alone didn't. I am now 18 weeks pregnant with my second. Good luck.
788859 tn?1236734548 yes femara has a short half life, so its out of your system way before conception starts! a lot of people on here have used it to get pregnant.. i used it on many cycles combined with injectables.. it helps with ovulation and endometriosis suppression as well, and has less side effects for most people than clomid! GOOD LUCK!
506810 tn?1210691647 Hey everyone. I'm Danielle i'm new here:) I was diagnosed with PCOS last January and started metformin and provera (to start my period). I just took clomid a couple weeks ago on days 3-7. My doctor said i had like 20 follicles but none were mature. Does anyone know a reason why they didn't mature? So now she took me off of metformin and I just started avandia. And wheneveer I start my next period she's gonna put me on Femara and an hcg shot.
Avatar f tn The doctor can use ultrasound and blood work to check for this. I used clomid and got prego with twins first try, I am now using Femara to try to for another. Your doctor can use Provera to help you start your cycle as well. I would make an app. asap. You have been trying for a year now so they should help you. You might not need in vitro at the point. There are other opptions that do not cost as much. Don't give up! It can still happen for you.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.
Avatar n tn Clomid and femara help with ovulation, but don't have that great a tendency to cause you to ovulate more than one egg at a time. So they are really useful when trying IUI. The IVF meds (and though I did IVF I can't recall all the names and which drug has what action) stimulate the ovaries to produce a lot of eggs during one cycle. This is fine if you are doing IVF because the eggs can be retrieved and then a select number placed back inside.
Avatar f tn i would strongly suggest you pop into the fertility forum and ask this question, many of the ladies there are on it and are such sweet ladies. i also beleive they told me about femara, which is the same thing as clomid but less side effects, so less mega "B"ness you could say.
Avatar f tn I'm trying to conceive and I was instructed to take Femara for five days starting on cd3 through cd 7. I also started gonal f (75iu) on cd7 and I took that uo until today which is cd 10. I went to the doctor and my follies wasn't ready yet so I was then instructed to take 150iu of gonal f up unitl Wednesday which is cd12. I am do back to the doctor on Thursday to see how many follies I have and the sizes. I'm nervous but overly excited al at the same time.
Avatar f tn I am still a little conflicted about this - I was really hoping to use femara and maybe be able to try for twins this time since I would love 3 kids. But I know that what is meant to be will be and I am happy with that whatever happens even if a m/c occurs.
1287560 tn?1272216521 I also did femara, it doesnt overstimulate you and cause too many follicles or cysts, it also keeps your lining from thinning. I did it first cycle and I am now 22w5dpg. Good luck.
Avatar f tn s cancel cycles that go much higher than that! I did my first injectable cycle this month with femara + follistim.. in the 1ww now.., but it has worked for a lot of people, i want to say thats how heathjo got her twins! GOOD LUCK and keep us updated!
679002 tn?1233867494 Hi-- my cycles are long but I O'd last month on CD 18. This month I did Femara & am on day 14 now-- Dr thinks it will be another 2-3 days. I'd suspect you'll be sooner. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I took Clomid for 7 cycles and 5 cycles with Femara... When you took fertility drugs.. your chance will have twins or triplets or more...IVF has higher percent of twins or triplets... I did try 2 IUI and didn't work.. my doctor wanted me to do IVF but we can't afford because of the cost.. and of course the pain and the stress during IVF procedure... We decided not to go through IVF and put all faith in to God's hand... I am 38 years old and will be 39 next month...
1190279 tn?1324936257 I had letrozole(femara) and follistim and only had 1. They should monitor you so you know how many follicles u produce before u do the hcg shot. Good luck.
Avatar n tn As long as you have eggs you are still in the ball game! You could always freeze any extra for later use. Sorry to hear about your twins! I lost my daughter shortly after birth at 22 weeks 3 days. best of luck! It is never to late to try if they can get some eggs!
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
144100 tn?1283522567 First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?
405370 tn?1332206110 My DH has 1% morph .. and IUI with Femara worked for us. I don't think morphology is a big problem as long as the count is not too low. (at least what RE told me) Good luck.
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
